Dear Houstonians,
As a successful businessman, I have spent my career helping those in need of fair representation. My company has hired many individuals that make up the diversity of Houston. As mayor, my staff and leadership team will reflect the demographics of Houston, as you should expect as a taxpaying citizen. Tony Buzbee As Houston continues to grow, as a first-class city, we will face more challenges, from flooding, crime reduction, homelessness, and others. So, I implore you to work with me to engage our federal and state officials to help us with getting the funding we need. Over the years, I have built relationships with both Democrats and Republicans to make sure that I had lines of communication open at the local, state and federal levels. As mayor of Houston, having relationships with both Republicans and Democrats will allow my administration to have open lines of communication with Washington D.C. should we need it. Under my leadership Hurricane Harvey residents would have received funding quicker (due to relationships) rather than waiting on the state reimbursement process.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON ELECTION NIGHT The office of the Harris County Clerk has an updated plan for Election Night tabulation and results for the December 14 Joint Runoff Election that will adhere to state regulations while accommodating for THE DROP OFF LOCATION the size and scope of the third largest county in the nation. This plan has been approved by the Texas Secretary of State. All Election Day results will be dropped off at a centralized location downtown, where they will be

certified, tallied, and released to the public. The George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston, TX 77010, has been secured as the drop off location. This setting is large enough to host Election Night drop off from all 380 polling locations, the Central Count Station, staff and equipment needed for this process. As in the past, our office will provide real-time election night results and media availability throughout the evening. For questions, you may email county.clerk@cco.hctx.net or call 713-274-9550 for more information. Early Voting and Mail Ballot returns will be available after the polls close at 7 p.m., and the Harris County Clerk’s Office will provide Election Day results as they become available.

Tony Buzbee Is Asking For Your Vote on Saturday, December 14th Tony Buzbee has practiced law in Texas for over twenty years. As an undergraduate at Texas A&M University, Buzbee obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology and was a member of the university’s Navy ROTC program. Upon graduation, Mr. Buzbee entered the United States Marine Corps as a second lieutenant and served on active duty for the next four years. In the Marines, he was recognized at basic training as an Honor Graduate and received the highest leadership score of any lieutenant in his class. While with the Marine Corps, Tony Buzbee spent much time overseas in very dangerous places, including countries within the Persian Gulf and in African countries like Somalia. As an infantry officer, Buzbee commanded various Marine special operation capable (SOC) units. His career in the Marines continued to advance when he was selected to become a Reconnaissance officer in the First Marine Regiment. During this time, he received several awards, including honor graduate from Navy Dive School and Amphibious Reconnaissance Course, among others. Before returning to civilian life, Buzbee achieved the rank of captain and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. After his stint on active duty in the Marines, Tony Buzbee then applied to and was accepted into the Uni-

versity of Houston Law Center. During his time there, while also remaining on inactive status in the Marines, Buzbee became Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review. He was also elected as Class Captain by his peers and won both the State and Regional Mock Trial champion titles. Buzbee graduated from law school summa cum laude, second in his class. Thereafter, Buzbee served as a briefing attorney for a federal judge in the Southern District of Texas in the U.S. District Court. From there, he transitioned into an associate position at Susman Godfrey, LLP, a prestigious law firm known for their litigation practice. In 1999, Tony Buzbee started his own firm. He based his practice on the principles he learned in the Marines—be prepared, move fast, be fearless, and execute. Buzbee has since been routinely recognized as one of the most successful and one of the most talented lawyers in the United States. Buzbee has been wildly successful as an attorney. He has been involved in some of the most high profile cases in the United States. He has a reputation for winning. Because of his financial success, Buzbee has been able to give back. Buzbee serves on a number of boards, including serving as a regent of the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents having been appointed by the governor in 2013. He was honored by Texas A&M University when the University named the Buzbee Leadership Learning Center in his honor. Buzbee also endowed the Dean’s Chair at the Texas A&M University School of Law.

The Pollard Plan is designed to detail my vision for bettering the quality of life for everyone in District J. The Pollard Plan is not a partisan plan, it is a people plan. I have created three categories that identify and address many of our most pressing issues throughout the District. The first category, Needs Before Wants, details a fiscally responsible approach to getting the most out of our tax dollars by placing a greater emphasis on basic core services over everything else. The second category, Neighborhoods Determine Everything, addresses the fact that in order for our district to flourish, we must first have neighborhoods that are safe, clean, and inviting. Finally, the third category, Diversity is our Strength, stresses the importance of not only embracing the different cultures that make up our district, but highlighting this unique feature in order to create opportunities and economic growth. With a commitment to each of these three categories, I know District J will reach its full potential.
