When I think of freedom, I can’t help but reflect back over my life, my struggles, my triumphs, my many Democratic and Republican clients, and my life-long friends. Especially, people who have poured into my life like, Judge DaSean Jones, the presiding judge for the 180th Criminal District Court, in Harris County, Texas. Judge DaSean Jones is a father, husband, lieutenant colonel, district judge, lover of our "UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION" and also serves as a picture of strength, courage, and intestinal fortitude in my book. When I think of role models, I don’t think of entertainers and professional athletes, I think of people like Judge DaSean Jones. His name is one of the first names that comes to mind when I think of people who have influenced me and my way of thinking over the years. So, as we prepare for our stretch-run to Tuesday, November 8, 2022, as the publisher of Houston Business Connections Newspaper©, I would like to encourage you to join me in “PUTTING PEOPLE OVER POLITICS” during this pivotal moment in the history of our great nation. Now, listen up! I’m not a perfect man. Nor am I an outlaw like some folks will have you to believe. What I’ve done is something that no other Black man in America has achieved — but I digress. Look — no man is an island. So, we all need each other to accomplish God’s will for us as individuals, and as “ONE NATION UNDER GOD.” Now, that being said, please understand that, for us to accomplish anything in life we must accept God’s plan for us as individuals and as a nation. And we must also embrace God’s vision for America as it continues to

unfold during these trying times. Thus, coming to this realization has liberated me and made me a free man in these United States of America. Now, the road for me hasn’t been easy, it has taken me a lot of time to come to grips with the fact that my success and fulfillment in life can only be achieved through my willingness to help other people like my client DaSean Jones, Alexandra de Moral Mealer, Trever Nehls, and many others, achieve their goals. who I will always admire, “The Great Muhammad Ali.” He was told that he had to conform to be champ, but Ali said, “I will be the champ like I want to be – not the champ like you want to be.” That statement has stuck with me throughout my entire life. I will forever respect him for making that statement. Whether you choose to get a degree, master a trade, have a business, climb the corporate ladder, or do what makes you whole on your own terms – you’re still just as FREE AS THE NEXT MAN! THE REAL DEAL.

I looked to my grandfathers for mentorship while growing up. From an early age, I was inspired by their stories of service and leadership in the defense of our freedom. My maternal grandfather was the first in his family to graduate high school and through his career of service in the U.S. Navy, also became the first in his family to graduate college. My paternal grandfather was forced to flee Spain

as a political refugee. He ultimately gained his U.S. citizenship through service in the U.S. Army. Following in my family’s tradition, I decided to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point following the 9/11 Attacks. Upon graduation, I served in the Army bomb squad. Through my experience leading soldiers in combat, I demonstrated the skills necessary to lead during times of crisis and that has prepared me to lead the county

through the crisis we currently face. The protection of our freedoms has been a theme throughout my life, one that my entire family has shared. They’re too important to sit idly by hoping that someone else will protect them and that’s especially true in Harris County, where our way of life has been under attack. I’m running for Harris County Judge to restore our way of life.

Instead, in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, the local populace has no freedom outside of what Al-Qaeda or the Taliban arbitrarily decides. The brutality of how the Taliban subjugate the Afghan people is truly horrific – that’s why you saw Afghan citizens desperately clinging to the landing gear of airplanes as they took off from the tarmac. The Afghan people knew what it meant when America left: the little freedom they once enjoyed would be gone and they’d now be subjugated to the brutal, dictatorial rule of the Taliban. My Afghanistan interpreter, Agha, was able to get out before the Taliban assumed control – something we worked on for years after I returned to the states from my deployment there. Agha is now living in Texas and is employed full time with a national trucking and logistics company. He couldn’t be happier and more grateful to be living in a

As every American should know and never forget: Freedom isn’t free. The ability in our day to day lives to live as we see fit in the world’s most prosperous country is a consequence of the sacrifices of countless men and women who have sacrificed their lives defending America. The United States Constitution explicitly establishes our freedoms. The freedom to speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press and many others are integral to the unique American freedom we enjoy; however, the Constitution and the freedoms spelled out therein are little more than words and ideas without someone to defend them. As a retired US Army Colonel, who served 33 years defending our Constitution, I know firsthand the sacrifices our men and women make on a daily basis to ensure our homeland is secure and Americans are able to enjoy their Constitutional freedoms. For many people outside of America, freedom isn’t

country where his freedom is established by the Constitution and defended by our men and women in uniform. As Americans, we so often take for granted the blanket of freedom our Constitution and nation’s military provides. But we can always be reminded when we look to our nation’s veterans to share stories of the sacrifices they’ve endured and made to defend our freedom. I hope the millions of Americans celebrating July 4th this weekend will reflect on and honor the sacrifices our military men and women have made so that we have something to celebrate on July 4th; and I hope they express pride to be living in the most free and prosperous country on Earth – a country which protects our endowed freedoms and liberties from those who would do it harm. That’s what freedom means to me and millions of Americans who’ve served this country and honor its foundation, and I pray we never forget it.

About Trever

Trever Nehls has dedicated his life to service. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the US Army National Guard. He was deployed to defend our freedom in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait, and commanded troops at the company, battalion and brigade level. Trever is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, the Joint Forces Staff College and the Command and General Staff College. This past August, he retired with the rank of Colonel after 33 years of dedicated service. He is a decorated combat veteran, most notably the recipient of three Bronze Star medals. While not deployed, Trever served his local community at home as a law enforcement professional.

In 1993, Trever began his Texas law enforcement service with the Sugar Land Police Department, serving in various roles until he was elected as Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable in 2012. He served two four-year terms as Constable

of Fort Bend County Precinct 4. During his tenure as Constable, Trever cut unnecessary waste, instituted body cameras for all his deputies, and kept our communities safe. He also waded through waist deep flood waters during Hurricane Harvey to rescue dozens of people and pets. Trever comes from a long line of military and law enforcement family professionals. His father, Edwin Nehls, served with the U.S. Army in Korea and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, our nation’s second highest medal for heroic actions for his bravery in hand to hand and small arms combat exchanges in Pau-gol Korea. Following military service, Edwin joined the Dodge County, Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office, where he became the elected Sheriff. Trever’s older brother, Todd Nehls, also served in the U.S. Army for over 36 years retiring with the rank of Colonel. Todd also served with the Dodge County, Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office and also served as the elected Sheriff. Trever’s twin brother, Troy Nehls, served the U.S. Army with 21 years of admirable service, retiring as a Major. Troy later served as the Sheriff of Fort Bend County, Texas. Currently, Troy serves as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressional District 22. Combined they have over 100 years of law enforcement service and over 90 years of military service. Today, Trever is the President of a Fort Bend County based biotechnology company. He will take his experience in the public and private sectors to make Fort Bend County government efficient and effective. He’s 100% pro-business and believes taxes and spending is out of control and would work to cut the waste to reduce the

tax burden on Fort Bend County residents. Outside of his professional life, Trever is engaged in numerous community service organizations such as the Exchange Club and Rotary Club. Trever is also a life member of the VFW Post 3903 in Rosenberg. He and his wife Kerri are raising their three children Madison, Wyatt, and Parker here in Fort Bend County. Trever and his family are active members of Grand Parkway Baptist Church. They have four dogs named Charlie, Duke, Cookie and Champ.

ISSUES Business

Trever Nehls is the President of a Fort Bend County based biotechnology company. As President he oversees the business’s employees, budget, international

and domestic sales, and research & development. Trever strongly believes government should support small businesses as they are the lifeblood of our economy. He is 100% pro-business and would put his experience to work to make Fort Bend County the best county to do business in the state of Texas, by working directly with business to streamline burdensome government regulation and processes.

Spending/Taxes

As the former Precinct 4 Constable, Trever Nehls has firsthand experience running a county office and dealing with the budgeting process and Commissioner’s

Court. He’s seen the waste and overspending for years by our county government, and if elected County Judge will find and cut unnecessary spending and lower the tax burden on all Fort Bend residents.

As a U.S. Army decorated combat veteran and current member of the Army Reserves, Judge Jones has truly dedicated his life to public service. Judge Jones is running for re-election to continue demonstrate that justice at its best arises from unbought, unbossed, bold citizens who respect the rule of law as it is written. In criminal cases, too often the people who make life decisions for so many of Harris County's citizens do not share similar life experiences of those they punish daily. Living and working throughout the world from childhood onward, Judge Jones learned about and engaged in various cultures and ideologies. These are the same things that make Harris County great. After witnessing first-hand how too many judges were closed-minded and prejudiced towards some defendants and attorneys, but afforded others with whom they were socially or financially in line with better opportunities and common courtesies, as well as "the benefit of the doubt," Judge Jones ran for office and won in November of 2018; making him the first minority to preside over the

180th Criminal District Court since its inception. Financial status, connections, race, clothing and other variables should not come into play in regards to the administration of justice. Judge Jones was raised by his dad, a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and his mother, who passed away on Valentine's Day a few weeks after his return from his second tour in Iraq. Judge Jones has three siblings. Two of which are disabled veterans. While in elementary school, Judge Jones visited Auschwitz, Anne Frank's house, and other key historical examples of social injustice and abuse of power. These experiences have helped mold him into the person he is today. After graduating from the storied Tuskegee University, Judge Jones commissioned as an Army Field Artillery Officer, where he led soldiers from all walks of life and held the highest standards as military combat arms officer. Judge Jones, his wife and three children reside in Houston, where his children attend public school.

Promote access to mental health services for those offenders whose criminal conduct is connected to mental health issues. Encouraging diagnose and plans to aid those with such issues in effort to reduce new law violations. Impact the community by having an increased presence in spaces where criminal court judges are not normally found (e.g. schools, parks, community gatherings, et cetera)

Follow the law and uphold the United States Constitution, Texas Constitution, and all current laws in effort to treat everyone with dignity and respect. A judge must remove himself from personal biases and reach conclusions that are the sum of the applicable law.

PUTTING MY EXPERIENCE TO WORK Jeralynn Manor was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her mother was a nurse, and her father, a career officer with the New Orleans Police Department. There he set the bar high for his daughter. He attained numerous awards and accommodations, including various achievements, such as becoming the first African American counter-sniper for the SWAT department and the first African American diver on the dive team. Manor’s hard work and high goal standards are certainly founded in her bloodline. Jeralynn Manor’s “service to all mankind” mantra and dedication to her craft is evidenced in her career achievements. Jeralynn studied philosophy at Xavier University in New Orleans before finishing her undergraduate studies in Administration of Justice at Texas Southern University. She went on to Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she earned the American Juris Prudence Award in Bankruptcy under the tutelage of the Honorable Justice Manual Leal of the Southern District of Texas Bankruptcy Court. Jeralynn also and won 1st place in the Mock Trial competition. In 2001 Manor earned her Juris Doctorate and became a licensed attorney by the Texas Supreme Court. In her 18 plus years of practicing law, attorney Jeralynn Manor has worked in several areas. She concentrated her early career as a closing attorney for 3 major title companies. In this area practice, Jeralynn played an integral role in helping thousands of Texans achieve the dream of home-ownership. Jeralynn Manor currently practices in the areas of Personal Injury, Mass Tort, Civil Rights, Immigration and, Employment Law. Attorney Jeralynn Manor is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Pro Bono College of the Texas State Bar, and a member of the Champions of Justice Society of the Texas Equal Access to Justice. In 2010 and again in 2014, I had the honor and privilege of being elected Judge of Harris County Probate Court No. 1, one of the busiest probate courts in the country. In 2018, all 59 Republicans lost in Harris County judicial races. After much reflection, and because it continues to be the most rewarding experience of my career, I have announced my candidacy to regain my position as Judge of Harris County Probate Court No. 1.

As an attorney with now over 30 years experience in probate, trust guardianship, estate planning, and elder law, I have developed a reputation for handling the matters entrusted to me with diligence and integrity. I have often represented executors, administrators, trustees, guardians, and beneficiaries in complex probate proceedings, and recovered

millions of dollars in assets lost through fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. Over the years, I was also appointed by the probate judges to handle both contested and uncontested estate and guardianship matters. Prior to this next run, I will have served another 3 plus years as a practicing probate and estate planning attorney for the Law Firm of Campbell & Riggs, P.C. Prior to coming to the bench, I was licensed to practice in all Courts in the State of Texas, the United States District Court (Southern District), the United States Court of Appeals (5th Circuit), and the United States Tax Court. I also served two terms as a member of the District 4A grievance committee (which disciplines attorneys) and served as Chair in 1994. I am a member of the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Probate and Trust Section, Taxation Section and Litigation Section and the Houston Bar Association Probate, Trusts and Estate Section, Taxation Section and Litigation Section. I also belong to the Houston Business and Estate Planning Council and the Houston Estate and Financial Forum. Lucia became a resident of East Harris County forty one years ago. She began her career with Verizon formerly) GTE in Baytown and left when the company relocated their business office 11 years later to San Angelo, Texas. She attained a Real Estate License that sustained her as she pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. After graduation, she was hired by the Houston Chronicle as an Account Executive and after developing several initiatives that are still implemented to this day; she was quickly promoted to an Advertising Sales Manager. At the top of her game, Lucia was awarded Sales Manager of the Year for 3 Consecutive years. After 10+ years with the Houston Chronicle, Lucia accepted an Advertising Director's position with the Houston Community Newspapers. Leveraging her wealth of experience, Lucia started an advertising agency two years later, specializing in Promotional Products and Marketing/Advertising Services. Lucia has always been a very active member of her community and has forged great relationships personally and professionally. Native Houstonian Chris Daniel was elected Harris County District Clerk on Nov. 2, 2010 and took the oath of office on Jan. 1. He was reelected in November 2014 to another term. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Chris earned his degree in mechanical engineering. As an engineer, Chris designed oilfield tool and management projects and served as Project Manager in the Tubing Division and Research Project Manager in the Drill Pipe Division of National Oilwell Varco. In November of 2006, Chris became one of the youngest elected officials in the state of Texas when he defeated the Board Chair of Lone Star College System. During his time there, Chris spearheaded the Student Success Initiative and served as student liaison to the Board, helping bring textbooks online and helping the college expand to more than 60,000 full time students. In that time, the college grew to be the second largest in Texas. Chris attended Night Law School at the South Texas

College of Law, where he became involved in Intellectual Property and Patent Law and served as Nighttime Student Senator and Senior Student Senator of Student Government. Chris volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Houston Food Bank, Target Hunger and Rotary. He is an Eagle Scout, a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and a member of the Gatekeeper and the Lamb and Goat Auction committees. He loves to travel and has visited more than 14 countries. Chris is married to Jennifer Barber Daniel, and they have a son, John Daniel, and a daughter, Amanda Daniel. Judge Israel B. García, Jr. was born and raised in Austin, Texas. His father was an emigrant from Mexico who became a United States citizen when Judge García was 10 years old. This remains a very proud moment for the García Family. Judge García's mother was born and raised in Austin, Texas.

MAYOR KEVIN COLE: “Freedom – I believe freedom is the

A PASSION FOR LOCAL POLITICS Kevin’s passion for being involved in the local politics started in 1992. Kevin was appointed to the City of Pearland Planning & Zoning Commission in 1994. Kevin then ran for City Council in 1995 and was successful. He served a single term to 1998. Kevin will tell you his biggest accomplishment while on Council was being a part of a Council that secured long-term water rights for the City. Kevin made the decision to run for City Council again in 2004 and was elected. He served 2 terms ending in May 2010. Kevin had several major accomplishments during this time. Cowart’s Creek diversion project was an item he ran on and was able to make it a part of the 2007 bond program. Today, it is complete and will help a large area of the City’s drainage. The Lower Kirby area has developed because the Council made the decision to focus on a market-based approach to the area. Kevin was able to utilize the skills as a real estate developer and help lead the Council to perform a market analysis followed by a market-based land plan. This led to rezoning the area based on the market and the Lower Kirby area finally took off. The City had become the de facto developer in that area by putting in the infrastructure, but the zoning really was difficult to deal with. So the City needed to act like a developer in performing this. The City was successful in the 2007 bond program election. This was the largest program in the City’s history and covered roads, drainage, fire stations, parks, and the natatorium/rec center. When the real estate economy collapsed in Sept 2008, parts of the bond program were able to be implemented quicker. Several roads were moved up to take advantage of better pricing. He was elected Mayor of Pearland on November 3, 2020.

JUDGE BERT RICHARDSON: “I was raised in a military family and understand firsthand the sacrifices that others have made so as citizens of this State & Country we enjoy freedoms in many aspects of our lives that others throughout the world do not have. At an early age my uncle (my father’s brother) was killed in a crash of a F-106 USAF fighter jet. Not long after that my father left for Vietnam and flew over 160 missions as a fighter pilot. During that year many of his fellow pilots did not return home from that war. I knew several of the children from those families. My brother recently retired from the USAF and is a veteran of over 300 air missions in the Middle-east conflicts with the Special Ops Squadrons. I have heard many stories of those brave soldiers he protected during his flights. Without such sacrifices throughout our Country’s history, we as American citizens would not enjoy the blessings to worship according to the dictates of our own conscience, or enjoy the many benefits and opportunities offered in our country to better ourselves through education, hard work and to support our families. Judge David C. Newell Discusses What Freedom Means to Him

JUDGE DAVID C. NEWELL: “At the risk of stating the obvious, "freedom" means a lot of different things to different people. People find its meaning in the inspirational words of Martin Luther King, Jr. or maybe even a popular song. But one thing that I have observed about freedom is that people, including myself, do not seem to think specifically about what it means to them on a regular basis. If you look at the dictionary definition it can mean the quality of being free as in the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action. It certainly means that to me as I often marvel at little things many of us take for granted such as the ability to catch a quick bite to eat at a fast-food restaurant. But I also see it quite often in the big things like the ability to vote for who will be my voice in passing the laws that will govern my daily life. And that leads me to another definition of freedom, that of a political right. It is a great paradox that our freedoms are based upon our responsibilities as citizens of the United States to participate in the process of self-governance. You can feel that responsibility not only in those little reminders such as a notice for jury duty, but also in the eyes of soldiers returning from foreign soil where they fought to bring freedom to others and preserve it for us at home. So perhaps that is what freedom means most to me. Those dictionary definitions and real life examples serve as humbling reminders of how truly blessed I am to live in a country with so much freedom that I rarely have to question my access to it. And they also serve to obligate me to exercise that freedom in a way that preserves that liberty for my family, my friends, and my fellow citizens.” JUDGE DAVID C. JUDGE BEAU MILLER: “We have a complicated relationship with freedom in this country, because the Enlightenment values on which we were founded, while progressive at the time, only applied to land-holding men. Women, people of color, of differing cultural and economic backgrounds, of different sexual orientations, and people of diverse faiths all had to fight not just for liberty, but for basic equality. “We, the people”...., means everyone. What freedom means to me is the upholding of laws that advance personal freedoms, and which embrace the joyous diversity we all share. In case you don’t know, Judge Dedra Davis would have still defeated Republican Judge Brent Gamble in the race for Judge, 270th Civil District Court – even without the 105,158 straight-ticket voting cushion she received from Democratic voters in Harris County, Texas back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election. Here’s why: Dedra Davis received 651,843 overall votes. When you subtract the 515,812 straight-ticket votes, you come up with 136,031 votes. Com-

paratively speaking, if you subtract the 410,654 straight-ticket votes, Judge Brent Gamble received from his overall vote total of 530,480 you come up with 119,826 votes. So, in essence, even if you stripped away the straight-ticket votes received by Judge Dedra Davis back in 2018 she would have still hypothetically unseated the incumbent by approximately 16,205 votes back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election in my opinion.

Dr. Cynthia Lenton Gary Discusses Freedom and What it Means to Her

DR. CYNTHIA LENTON GARY: “According to the dictionary, freedom is the act of being free or at liberty instead of being in confinement or under physical restraint. In January of 1941, Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed what freedom means to him during his State of the Union Address. He said that every American has four basic freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want and freedom from fear. However, in my opinion, Nelson Mandela stated it better. He said, “For to be free is not merely to cast off ones’ chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” Freedom entitles us to quality of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It presents us with opportunities that were nonexistent for our ancestors. I can recall being in the fifth grade; my parent, my siblings and I went to visit my uncle in Fort Polk, Louisiana. My sister was a baby at the time, and she needed more milk. We stopped at a store and on the door was a sign that read, “COLOREDS ENTER IN THE BACK”. That sign worried me because in my heart I thought because we were living in America, a country known as the land of the free, the owner of that store should not have been allowed to put that sign up. From that day, I was determined to pursue a field of study that very few African American considered. I received my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/ Mathematics and worked as a Chemist for many years. As an African American female, and a citizen of the United States, I was able to receive a quality education that resulted in a bachelors, a masters and a doctorate degree. The lack of confinement and the lack of being restrained by racism and inequality also gave me the opportunity to be the first African American female to service on Missouri City council, the first African American female appointed to Fort Bend Independent School District board of trustees and it gave me the opportunity to service on the board of directors of the Houston Galveston Area Council (H-GAC). I have been blessed with many other opportunities that would not have existed had I not been free. As the mother of sons, I can proudly say that freedom of education and opportunity is why all my sons are college graduates who are working to pursue their dreams to ensure a successful future. I thank GOD for the most important characteristic of our lives and that’s FREEDOM.”

MANISH SETH: “I am free to ….” those are powerful words. We are fortunate to live in a country in which not only can we state those words but we can act upon them as well. I am reminded of this daily, when I watch the news and see people in other countries who do not have the freedom to live life to the fullest and enjoy the freedoms we have in the United States. I appreciate that we have the privilege to be ourselves and do what makes us happy. Freedom to me is the ability to be who we are and to be the best we can be. My parents came here from India so that their kids would be free to learn in good schools, free to make friends of their choice, and free to choose the careers of their own choosing. I was fortunate in that I had the opportunity to attend a university in which I could make choices and follow my interests and passions. Whether it was helping with student campaigns, run for office of student organizations, or choose the field of study that was most appropriate for me, I had the freedom to pursue my dreams. It didn't stop there for me. The freedoms provided in our country have allowed me to follow my dreams and work in an industry where I am able to impact lives and help others to achieve their dreams as well. While being able to choose your own professional path is important, our freedoms also allow us to meet people of different backgrounds and discuss our differences. We live in a great country in which we have the freedom to have different thoughts and ideas but still come together. OSCAR GONZALES: “My first reflection is that I come from poverty and struggle. My maternal side was from Mexico. My maternal grandfather built his home with his own hands in 5th Ward. He was a proud man who didn't believe in accepting handouts; worked all his life as a longshoreman. He raised his children after my grandmother passed away. He was a Conservative Democrat, if you can believe those existed back then. I learned a lot from him. My paternal side is Native. My dad’s family worked the farms and fields, picking cotton and watermelons. My dad believes in hard work too. I spoke English and Spanish, and in the 70's I was beat up for that. I learned to question everything because that was the battle cry of the Hippies during the 60's and 70's. Freedom to me is, being raised in poverty, and having the freedom to achieve and surpass the dreams and expectations you have for yourself. As a child I feared and admired Police. However, I dreamed of being an officer one day. So, I applied for the Sheriff’s Department at the age of 25-years old, and was accepted a year later, near my 26th birthday. My acceptance made me the very first Peace Officer on either side of my family. However, my only nephew also became a Peace Officer, but he unfortunately passed away two days before his 25th birthday. I served the citizens of this great city, state, and country, for a couple months short of 30 years. Section 3: The Senate

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.

Immediately after they shall be assembled in Consequence of the first Election, they shall be divided as equally as may be into three Classes. The Seats of the Senators of the first Class shall be vacated at the Expiration of the second Year, of the second Class at the Expiration of the fourth Year, and of the third Class at the Expiration of the sixth Year, so that one third may be chosen every second Year; and if Vacancies happen by Resignation, or otherwise, during the Recess of the Legislature of any State, the Executive thereof may make temporary Appointments until the next Meeting of the Legislature, which shall then fill such Vacancies.

No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

The Senate shall chuse their other Officers, and also a President pro tempore, in the Absence of the Vice President, or when he shall exercise the Office of President of the United States. Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

Section 4: Elections

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators. The Congress shall assemble at least once in every Year, and such Meeting shall be on the first Monday in December, unless they shall by Law appoint a different Day.

Section 5: Powers and Duties of Congress

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members,and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide. Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal. Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.

Section 6: Rights and Disabilities of Members

Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place. No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.

Section 7: Legislative Process

All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law. Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States; and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him, or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to the Rules and Limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill.

Section 8: Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States; To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries; To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

Section 9: Powers Denied Congress

The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it. No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.

No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.

No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another: nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another.

No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

Section 10: Powers Denied to the States

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection Laws: and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Controul of the Congress.

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

Article II Section 1

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.

He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows: Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President. The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected. The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them.

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Section 2

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such

inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

Section 3

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

Section 4

Article III

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Section 1

The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.

Section 2

The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;--to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;--to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;--to Controversies between two or more States;--between a State and Citizens of another State;--between Citizens of different States;--between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.

In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment; shall be by Jury; and such Trial shall be held in the State where the said Crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any State, the Trial shall be at such Place or Places as the Congress may by Law have directed.

Section 3

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

Article IV Section 1

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

Section 2

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on Demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.

No Person held to Service or Labour in one State, under the Laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in Consequence of any Law or Regulation therein, be discharged from such Service or Labour, but shall be delivered up on Claim of the Party to whom such Service or Labour may be due.

Section 3

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress. The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States; and nothing in this Constitution shall be so construed as to Prejudice any Claims of the United States, or of any particular State.

Section 4

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Article V

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

Article VI

All Debts contracted and Engagements entered into, before the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be as valid against the United States under this Constitution, as under the Confederation.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Article VII

The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States, shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same.

First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Second Amendment

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Third Amendment

No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

Fourth Amendment

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Fifth Amendment

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Sixth Amendment

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Seventh Amendment

In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

Eighth Amendment

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Ninth Amendment

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

10th Amendment

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

11th Amendment

The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.

12th Amendment

The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate; -- The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted; -- The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. And if the House of Representatives shall not choose a President whenever the right of choice shall devolve upon them, before the fourth day of March next following, then the Vice-President shall act as President, as in case of the death or other constitutional disability of the President.-- The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

13th Amendment Section 1

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

14th Amendment Section 1

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Section 2

Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice-President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.

Section 3

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Section 4

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Section 5

The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

15th Amendment Section 1

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Section 2

The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

16th Amendment

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

17th Amendment

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.

When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

18th Amendment Section 1

After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited.

Section 2

The Congress and the several States shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Section 3

This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of the several States, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress.

19th Amendment

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

20th Amendment Section 1

The terms of the President and the Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.

Section 2

The Congress shall assemble at least once in every year, and such meeting shall begin at noon on the 3d day of January, unless they shall by law appoint a different day.

Section 3

If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

Section 4

The Congress may by law provide for the case of the death of any of the persons from whom the House of Representatives may choose a President whenever the right of choice shall have devolved upon them, and for the case of the death of any of the persons from whom the Senate may choose a Vice President whenever the right of choice shall have devolved upon them.

Section 5

Sections 1 and 2 shall take effect on the 15th day of October following the ratification of this article.

21st Amendment Section 1

The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.

The transportation or importation into any State, Territory, or Possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited.

22nd Amendment Section 1

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

The District constituting the seat of Government of the United States shall appoint in such manner as Congress may direct:

A number of electors of President and Vice President equal to the whole number of Senators and Representatives in Congress to which the District would be entitled if it were a State, but in no event more than the least populous State; they shall be in addition to those appointed by the States, but they shall be considered, for the purposes of the election of President and Vice President, to be electors appointed by a State; and they shall meet in the District and perform such duties as provided by the twelfth article of amendment.

Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

26th Amendment Section 1

The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.

Section 2

The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

27th Amendment

“I can remember as a young boy if we were walking down the street acting disrespectful any neighbor could discipline us. Then when we got home and grandmama had heard what were doing we then got a second whipping. What happened to us?” — Quanell X

In case you don't know, Quanell X was born, Quanell Ralph Evans in Los Angeles, California. So, just for the record, Quanell’s parents, were both members of the Nation of Islam. However, after their divorce, Quanell found himself living in Houston with his mom and younger brother in the South Acres neighborhood, where he ended up attending Worthing High School. Now, what a lot of you guys may not know, is that Quanell was actually inspired by a September 1990, speech that was delivered by the Honorable Louis Farrakhan at the Sam Houston Coliseum to join the Nation of Islam -against the wishes of his parents. Once a member, it didn't take long for him to rise through the ranks, becoming a spokesman for the organization. A lot has happened since then. But, his passion for people hasn't changed. What a lot of folks don't know about Quanell X, is that he's seen and witnessed a lot in his lifetime, and he's angered by injustice -- and not just injustices that are perpetrated against Black people either. And if you ask me, I think a lot of his fight comes from walking into an apartment as a young man, back in July of 1992, and finding his brother Quinten and three others with bullets to their heads. That being said, when you hear him passionately defend his clients, and those who have suffered injustice, just know that he's coming from a place that many of us might not understand.
