VINEYARD
The Martin Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville, is the cornerstone of Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on some of the most beautiful, gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the vineyard uniformly produces wines with supple tannins, bright, forward fruit, and beautiful tannin structure.
HARVEST
The 2023 growing season opened with an unusually cold, wet winter that carried well into early spring, bringing cooler temperatures and more rainfall than the region had experienced in years. Budbreak occurred later than normal, and mild weather through June further slowed vine development. The valley did not see its rst triple-digit day until July 1, and although temperatures warmed through August, cumulative Growing Degree Days remained below the long-term average, keeping harvest roughly two weeks behind. These steady, moderate conditions ultimately proved ideal, allowing for extended hang time in our Cabernet vineyards. Flavors, color, and tannins matured gradually and evenly, achieving exceptional balance. Harvest in our Oakville estate vineyards began in mid-October and concluded just after Halloween, yielding fruit of outstanding purity and re nement.
