Employee Highlight: Dylan Tuttle, Golf Shop Cart Staff
Originally from Apex, NC, Dylan Tuttle grew up with a love for sports and the outdoors. With a father who pitched for NC State, Dylan spent much of his childhood on the baseball field before discovering a passion for golf—often playing alongside his dad in their free time. He continued baseball through high school but ultimatelyshiftedhisfocustogolfaftermovingtoBooneforschool.
Now fully committed to pursuing a career as a PGAprofessional, Dylan is an integral part of the Hound Ears Golf Shop team. He works as a shop assistant while supporting the Cart Staff, assisting members with their golfingneeds,bookingteetimes,maintainingtheshop,andhelpingmanageincomingmerchandise.Hisgoalis togrowintoanAssistantroleandcontinueadvancingtowardhisPGAcertification.
Dylan’s passion for the game extends well beyond work. In his free time, you’ll often find him practicing his golf game—especially chipping at Willow Creek—or exploring ways to improve his game. He enjoys playing thenewlyrenovatedHoundEarscourse,withHole#15standingoutasafavoriteforitsdramaticdownhilldrop. HealsoappreciatestheupdatestothecartpathandthechallenginguphillPar5onHole#4.
Looking ahead, Dylan dreams of traveling to Scotland to experience some of the world’s most iconic courses, all while playing with his favorite Mizuno clubs. Complimenting his chosen profession, his all-time favorite golfmovieistheclassicCaddyshack.

Calamity Jane Open on September 10th
In honor of Bobby Jones and his beloved putter, Calamity Jane, we will hold the 5thAnnual Calamity Jane Open on September 10th. This social event is open to golfers and non-golfers, and all are encouraged to sign up and play. The reigning 2025 Champs are Scotty and Julie Beam. 2024 winners were Brad Peete and Vic Cochrane. 2023 saw Larry BowmanandCharlieReedtakehomethetrophy.OurinauguraleventwinnerswereJimmyandFrankieEpperson.
This two-person team event will be held as part of our Nine & Dine program. Mixed couples, same-sex teams, and single entrants are all encouraged to sign up. We will again have an expanded field of 108 golfers. The previous four tournamentssoldoutall108slots,sopleasesignupearly.TheProShopwilldetermineallgrouppairings,sopleasedo notrequesttoplaywithspecificcouples.
The event will be an 18-hole modified alternate-shot putting contest beginning with a 3 p.m. shotgun start. Each team willplayall18holesusingonlytheirputters.Teemarkerslocatedoneachgreenorcollarwilldeterminewhereplayers striketheirfirstputts.Bothplayerswillhitthefirstputtoneachhole,thentheteamwillchoosewhichballtoplay.The playerwhoseballwasnotselectedwillhitthesecondputt,andteammateswillalternateshotsuntiltheballisholed.All finalputtsmustbeholed;therearenogimmiesofanylength.Aftercompletingahole,playerswillproceedtothenext green.Themaximumscoreoneachholeis5.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Separate male and female putting contests will also be held on the practicegreen.Theawardsceremonyanddinnerwillbeheldintheclubhousefollowingthetournament.Theentryfee, including dinner, is $80 per person. In addition to these special events, our weekly Ladies’, Men’s, and Mixed play days continue to be very active in both Tennis and Pickleball. These are great opportunities for players of all levels to meet others and enjoy the game in a welcoming, social environment. In Pickleball Open Play (PBOP) on Wednesdays at 9am and Fridays at 1pm, our Pickleball Professional, Elizabeth Barry is there to organize the experienced player court and recreational court. She is also there to help guide the beginners. Registration is required for weekly events. Tiffany’s Furever Friends Avery Humane Society Round Robin - Saturday,August22at10:00AM This event supports the Avery Humane Society, the only Humane Society in NC that does not receive any funds from the State and is operated only by private donations. We invite all members—whether you play tennis or not—to consider contributing to this important cause. We are accepting donations of pet food (most needed), old towels, pet toys, newspapers, and checks made payable to “Avery Humane Society”. Donations can be dropped off daily at the Racquet Sports Pro Shop from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This Tennis Special Event will feature three sets of fun doubles play followed by lunch. Strength & Stretch Continues to Grow!
Our Strength & Stretch classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings have become one of the most popular offerings in the Fitness Center. It has been wonderful to see so many members making strength and mobilityaregularpartoftheirwellnessroutine.
Duetothecontinuedgrowthanddemand,weareevaluatingthepossibilityofaddingalaterStrength&Stretch class next year to provide additional flexibility for members' schedules. We appreciate your enthusiasm and support as we explore the best way to expand the program. As a reminder, our Strength & Stretch classes are limited to the first 12 participants who register. Due to the size of the classroom, we limit class capacity to ensurethesafety,comfort,andenjoymentofallmembers.
If you have not registered for a class, we kindly ask that you give priority to those who have reserved a spot. Wealsoaskthatmembersbeconsiderateofothersandcanceltheirreservationinadvanceiftheyknowtheyare unable to attend. This allows members on the waitlist an opportunity to participate. Now that the Fourth of July is behind us, it's time to relax. Just kidding! This is the time of year we've beengearingupfor.
With multiple outlets running at full speed, daily golf functions, private events, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners keeping us busy, there is always something happening at Hound Ears. A tremendous amount of work takes place behind the scenes each day, and at times it can feel overwhelming when being pulled in severaldirectionsatonce.
Fortunately, I have an incredible team in place. They ensure that even when I can't be everywhere at once, everything continues to run smoothly. Many of you have seen more of our Chef de Cuisine, Michael Villiers, this year. Hopefully, you've also had a chance to read the past two newsletters, which highlighted first our local team members, Andrew and Chance Young, and then some of our international staff members,AkielStevenson,AndrewMorgan,DiegoHernandez,andDilonMorgan.
This month, we'd like you to get to know the rest of our international team members, Reyna and June CastilloandAlbertoAdrianzen,alongwithanotherof ourhomegrownemployees,BlaiseMcCann.
To say I couldn't do this without my team would be an understatement. I have the privilege of leading these talented individuals, getting to know them, and building lasting relationships with them. Each member of our team plays an important role in making your experience at Hound Ears exceptional, and togethertheyhelpmakeHoundEarsaplaceunlikeanywhereelse.

Blaise McCann
Blaise McCann is originally from Clearwater, Florida, and grew up with an older sister who is eight years his senior. Today, he’s a proud uncle to her two daughters. In 2010, Blaise moved to Lake Lure, North Carolina, where he attended middle and high school and discovered his passion for cooking. He got his start flipping burgers at a small restaurant in Chimney Rock, sparking what would become a decade-long culinary career. After coming to Boone for school, Blaise decided to fully pursue his culinary interests and has now been working as a cook for ten years. He is currently in his fourth season at Hound Ears, where he especially enjoys the art of plating— takingprideinmakingeachdishlookasbeautifulasittastes.
Outside of Hound Ears, Blaise enjoys spending time hanging out with friends, playing video games, reading, playing chess, traveling (he recently returned from a trip to Japan), and playing the guitar. He has also developed a passion for the outdoors, recently becoming an avid birder and forager. He enjoys identifying mushrooms and edible plants in nature and keeps a bird camera to observe local wildlife. So far, he regularly spots cardinals, chickadees, and gray catbirds, and hopes to one day see a rose-breasted grosbeak. Blaise appreciates the natural beauty of Hound Ears and values the camaraderie among the team. Over the years, he has built meaningfulrelationshipsandconsidersmanyof hiscoworkerslifelongfriends. @blaisecooks
Alberto Adrianzen

AlbertoAdrianzengrewupinPeruwithhisyoungersisterandinitiallybeganhiseducational journey studying computer science. However, his passion for the culinary arts began much earlier at the age of nine, when he learned to make lemon pies alongside his grandmother, whowasknownforpreparingdessertsforweddingsandspecialevents.
His career path took a turning point while taking a robotics class located next to a culinary school—an experiencethatinspiredhimtoswitchdirectionsandpursuecooking.Albertoquicklydiscoveredaloveforsushi and began working in a fast-food restaurant in Peru, honing his skills. He was later invited to serve as a sushi chefatasmallrestaurant,whichunfortunatelyclosedfollowingthepandemic.
Undeterred, Alberto launched his own business specializing in desserts, supplying local coffee shops with pastriesandbakedgoods.HistalentanddedicationledtoanopportunitytoworkaboardaCarnivalcruiseshipas a sushi specialist. He later joined a new Four Seasons Hotel in Florida through the H-2B visa program before arrivingatHoundEarsforhisfirstseason.
AtHoundEars,Albertoenjoystheopportunitytolearnandgrowbyrotatingthroughdifferentareasoftheclub, includingthediningroom,TeeHouse,andTerrace19Lounge.Lookingahead,heplanstocontinuehisculinary journey in Montana for the winter season. Outside of work,Alberto still enjoys spending time on his computer playinggameswithfriends,exploringBoone,andplayingminigolf.Hisdiverseexperiencesandenthusiasmfor tryingnewthingsmakehimavaluedmemberoftheHoundEarsteam.

ATTIRE POLICY REMINDERS
1. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times at Club facilities except the pool area and wet areas such as locker rooms and saunas. Bathing suits may only be worn in the pool and locker areas. All other facilities require appropriate cover-ups and shoes to be worn.
2. Proper attire is required in the Clubhouse at all times. Tee shirts, gym attire, sweatpants, tank tops, short-shorts and swimming attire are not allowed. Gentlemen should wear a collared shirt (or appropriate non-collared shirt) and hats are to be removed in all areas of the Clubhouse. More casual attire is acceptable only when coming to the Clubhouse solely to utilize the Mail Room.
Hound Ears Room: Country Club casual attire worn with a collared shirt and slacks. Jackets with or without ties are always appropriate. Jackets are encouraged on Saturday night.
The Grille Room: Country Club casual attire worn with a collared shirt and slacks or appropriate denim. Jackets are encouraged. No ragged jeans are allowed.
All other Clubhouse venues: Country Club casual attire worn with a collared shirt or slacks or appropriate denim or golf attire.
