Luxury Living and Exclusive Lifestyle

Editor’s Note
This month, HOT Magazine finds itself in a particularly enviable position: somewhere between a riverfront suite, a handcrafted Bentley cabin, and a private villa in Koh Samui where someone else is very sensibly preparing dinner.
We begin in Bangkok, which appears to have woken up one morning and decided that being merely exciting was no longer enough. Thailand’s capital is now making a serious case for itself as Southeast Asia’s new luxury style epicentre, and frankly, the evidence is difficult to argue with. Alaïa, Moncler, Zimmermann, Patek Philippe and Richard Mille have all expanded their presence in the city, while Capella Bangkok and Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok continue to give the global hotel rankings something to talk about. Add Michelin-starred dining, private-client salons, wellness programmes, art, design and that uniquely Bangkok ability to make refinement feel alive rather than over-rehearsed, and the message is clear: the city has not joined the luxury conversation. It has taken a very good table and ordered Champagne.
indulgent British refinement with astonishing hybrid performance, all-wheel steering and the sort of composure that makes physics seem briefly negotiable. It is equally convincing outside a five-star hotel, sweeping down the road to Hua Hin, or waiting beside a private villa with the quiet confidence of a car that knows everyone is looking.

Then, because balance is important, we escape to Koh Samui, freshly named the Best Island in the World by readers of Travel + Leisure in its 2026 World’s Best Awards. Which is lovely, of course, though anyone who has spent a few days there may reasonably ask what took everyone else so long. The island has grown up beautifully, without losing the relaxed charm that made people fall for it in the first place. Today, Samui offers secluded pool villas, serious wellness retreats, destination dining and long, lazy days on the water, but it still knows the value of a coconut grove, a quiet beach and an afternoon with absolutely nothing scheduled. That may be its greatest luxury: sophistication without stiffness, beauty without effort, and enough sea breeze to make over-planning feel faintly ridiculous.
From there, we slide into the Bentley Flying Spur, which is perhaps the most elegant argument ever made against sensible restraint. On paper, a grand four-door saloon weighing more than two tonnes should not behave like something with a supercar hiding under its dinner jacket. Yet the Flying Spur does exactly that. It combines limousine comfort, hand-finished craftsmanship and properly
Three stories. Three excellent reasons to dress well, drive well and disappear beautifully. Just a few of the stories you’ll find inside this month’s issue. We hope you enjoy the read.

Nimitr Celebrates the Monsoon with a Refined Thai Porridge Table
Available from 3 July to 30 September 2026, Nimitr Restaurant reimagines one of Thailand’s most comforting rainy-season rituals with premium ingredients and rooftop elegance.
As Bangkok settles into the gentle rhythm of the rainy season, Nimitr Restaurant & Rooftop Bar at 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok presents “Monsoon Porridge Table,” a seasonal dining experience that elevates one of Thailand’s most familiar comfort foods into a refined evening ritual. Available from 3 July to 30 September 2026, the menu celebrates rice porridge not as a humble bowl, but as a shared table of flavour, memory, and quiet indulgence.
Thoughtfully crafted by Executive Chef Korawit Rungchat, the experience draws on a dish long enjoyed in Thai homes across generations, particularly when the weather invites something warm, soothing, and deeply satisfying. At Nimitr, that sense of home is
preserved while the presentation is lifted through premium ingredients, elegant technique, and the restaurant’s polished rooftop setting. The result is a meal that feels both nostalgic and distinctly elevated—rooted in Thai culinary heritage, yet framed for contemporary Bangkok dining.
The journey begins with an Assorted Thai Appetiser Platter, bringing together sweet pork floss, spicy salted egg salad, crab meat stir-fried with preserved radish and egg, and herb-roasted peanuts. Each bite introduces a different expression of texture and taste, setting the stage for a menu designed to complement the delicate comfort of rice porridge. From there, the table expands with dishes such as stir-fried morning glory with prawn and shrimp paste sauce, spicy scallop salad with onsen egg and Thai herbs, and snow fish and Thai herb salad with ikura caviar—each balancing freshness, fragrance, and savoury depth.
For those seeking richer pleasures, the menu continues with premium braised abalone in superior brown sauce with broccoli and black mushrooms, deepfried sun-dried striploin beef, and braised sweet pork belly with coriander and black pepper. These heartier accompaniments bring warmth and generosity to the table, reminding diners why porridge, in Thai culture, is often less about simplicity than togetherness.
Served daily for dinner from 17.00 to 23.00, with last orders at 22.30, Monsoon Porridge Table is perfectly suited to slow, rain-kissed evenings in the city. Perched on the 27th floor in Phrom Phong, Nimitr brings Thai fine dining with a heart—an elegant urban retreat where heritage flavours meet the season’s most comforting mood.

A Chocolicious Wellness Journey at Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok
Swiss chocolate heritage meets Thai cacao, sensory wellbeing, and playful indulgence in a resort experience that turns chocolate into a daily ritual.
Chocolate and wellness rarely appear in the same sentence. One suggests indulgence, the other restraint. Yet at Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok, the two come together with surprising ease through the resort’s new Chocolicious Journey—an experience that treats chocolate not simply as a sweet pleasure, but as a philosophy of enjoyment, craftsmanship, and sensory wellbeing.
Drawing on Mövenpick’s Swiss heritage while celebrating Thailand’s growing reputation for cacao, the journey unfolds from morning to night. It begins with hot chocolate crafted from Thai single-origin cacao, introducing guests to the country’s emerging cacao culture and the subtle differences shaped by each growing region. Throughout the day, chocolate continues to appear across the resort’s restaurants and lounges, while suite guests are welcomed with curated
chocolate amenities that add a sense of quiet continuity to the stay.
The most unexpected expression takes place in the spa. The Chocolicious Sensory Retreat transforms cacao into a wellness ritual, beginning with a fullbody chocolate scrub before continuing into a massage using warm organic cacao candles made in-house. Here, chocolate moves beyond flavour into texture, scent, warmth, and touch— revealing an indulgence that feels as restorative as it is delicious.
At the heart of the experience is Mövenpick’s signature Chocolate Hour, held daily from 14.00 to 15.00 and reimagined in Bangkok as Chocolicious Chocolate Hour. The resort’s pastry team sources cacao from six Thai provinces—Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Loei, Phitsanulok, and Chanthaburi— creating a tasting journey that moves from delicate milk and white chocolate to rich dark varieties containing up to 70 percent cocoa. Local ingredients such as chilli, galangal, and lemongrass lend a distinctly Thai character, while handcrafted chocolates, fondue, choco -
late popsicles, and live crêpe and waffle stations add a playful sense of abundance. Champagne and sparkling wine pairings are also available for those who wish to linger, while the Chocolicious experience itself is complimentary for resort guests.
As evening arrives, the journey concludes with a handcrafted bonbon or praline presented during turndown service—a small, elegant gesture that captures the care woven through the day.
What makes the Chocolicious Journey memorable is not simply the chocolate, but the story behind it. By bringing together Swiss tradition, Thai agriculture, wellness, and gracious hospitality, Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok has created an experience that feels both indulgent and beautifully connected to its destination.

Meliá Chiang Mai Plants Deeper Roots with Its Go Green Initiative
Through its ongoing partnership with the Doi Suthep Nature Center, Meliá Chiang Mai has helped restore more than seven acres of northern Thailand’s dry tropical forest.
Meliá Chiang Mai is continuing to turn responsible hospitality into measurable action through its ongoing Meliá Go Green initiative, which has now helped regenerate more than seven acres of seasonally dry tropical forest in northern Thailand. Since the programme began, the hotel’s team has planted 6,650 native trees, supporting biodiversity, watershed health, and forest restoration in one of the country’s most ecologically significant regions.
The latest activity took place on 26 June 2026, when almost 180 hotel team members joined the Doi Suthep Nature Center to plant 800 native trees across two rai in Mae Taeng and Mae Rim, within Chiang Mai’s Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. Now in its 13th edition, Meliá Go Green brought volunteers together to plant carefully selected native species, including Quercus semiserrata,
Castanopsis diversifolia, Ficus capillipes, and Antidesma bunius, each chosen for its role in restoring the area’s natural forest ecosystem.
The hotel has worked in partnership with the Doi Suthep Nature Center since 2022, helping rehabilitate degraded areas with native trees that strengthen biodiversity and create habitat for wildlife. The forests connected to Doi Suthep-Pui National Park are among northern Thailand’s richest natural ecosystems, home to more than 300 bird species and nearly 2,000 species of ferns and flowering plants. Against that backdrop, the initiative feels both local and lasting—an act of stewardship rooted in the landscape that surrounds Chiang Mai.
For Meliá Chiang Mai, the tree-planting programme is part of a wider commitment to responsible tourism and community engagement. The hotel’s sustainability efforts extend into its 360-degree cuisine programme, which champions locally sourced, chemical-free seasonal ingredients while
working to minimise food waste. By collaborating with farmers, universities, students, and local communities, the hotel supports a more resilient food system that benefits both people and place.
Inside the hotel, The GALLERY social enterprise further reflects this philosophy, showcasing handcrafted products by local artisans and community enterprises while helping preserve traditional skills and generate sustainable income. Together with Meliá Go Green, these initiatives support the sustainability vision of the hotel’s owner, Asset World Corporation, creating environmental and social value that reaches beyond the guest experience.

Phetchaburi’s Culinary Heritage, Reimagined
Phetchaburi Dining Club at Avani+ Hua Hin Resort unveiled its latest tasting menu with an intimate media dinner celebrating the province’s remarkable produce, traditions and distinctive flavours.
On Thursday evening 23 July , Phetchaburi Dining Club welcomed members of the media to Avani+ Hua Hin Resort for the presentation of its latest tasting menu, “A Journey Through Phetchaburi.” The thoughtfully composed dining experience offered a contemporary exploration of one of Thailand’s most historically and culturally significant culinary provinces.
Known for its fertile agricultural landscape, abundant coastline and extraordinary natural ingredients, Phetchaburi possesses a cuisine with a character all its own. The new menu draws upon that heritage while introducing modern techniques and influences from around the world. Rather than simply reproducing familiar regional dishes, the culinary team has taken their essential flavours and reworked them with creativity, precision and a clear sense of place.
The journey began with a trio of refined snacks. Delicately sliced black kingfish was arranged like a rose and

paired with prik parn, Phetchaburi’s distinctive local pepper. Crab meat was presented in its shell with sea vegetables, salted duck egg and chilli, creating a rich meeting of sweetness, salinity and gentle heat. Rung Kun chicken completed the opening sequence, served with wild basil cream and surrounded by crisp leaves that provided a pleasing contrast in texture.
The menu then moved into a series of sharing plates designed to bring diners together in the convivial spirit of a traditional Thai meal. Grilled king mackerel was elevated by a fragrant reduction of red chilli and lemongrass,

mor kaeng phueak ice cream. Inspired by Phetchaburi’s celebrated tradition of sweet-making, the finale balanced nostalgia with contemporary presentation. The chocolate tart offered richness, the banana and jaggery introduced mellow caramel notes, and the ice cream referenced the province’s beloved taro custard.
The dishes were presented with an understated elegance that allowed colour, texture and craftsmanship to take centre stage. From sculptural ceramics to the finishing of each plate by hand, every detail reinforced the sense that this was as much a journey through Phetchaburi’s landscape as it
was a dinner.
With “A Journey Through Phetchaburi,” Phetchaburi Dining Club demonstrates how regional cuisine can evolve without losing its identity. Rooted in tradition yet confidently modern, the new tasting experience celebrates the farmers, fishermen, ingredients and culinary stories that make the province exceptional—presented beside the sea in the relaxed sophistication of Avani+ Hua Hin Resort.

La Familiare Brings Ferragosto to Pattaya with an Italian Summer Feast
On 15 August 2026, Pattaya Marriott Resort and Spa celebrates Italy’s beloved summer holiday with a joyful afternoon of coastal flavours, spritzes, and all-you-can-eat Italian indulgence.
La Familiare, the modern Italian restaurant at Pattaya Marriott Resort and Spa, is bringing a taste of Italy’s most spirited summer tradition to Thailand’s eastern seaboard with its “Italian Summer Ferragosto Feast.” Taking place for one day only on 15 August 2026, the celebration is inspired by Ferragosto, the cherished Italian holiday when families and friends gather by the coast for long lunches, sunlit conversation, and the easy pleasure of sharing generous food.
At the heart of the experience is Pranzo di Ferragosto, the grand summer lunch that traditionally stretches through the afternoon. At La Familiare, this festive ritual is reimagined as a lively all-you-can-eat Italian feast served
from 12.30 to 15.30, with Mediterranean flavours, upbeat entertainment, and a warm social atmosphere designed for gathering well.
The afternoon begins in suitably Italian fashion with free-flow welcome spritzes served from a roaming cart, featuring house-made Limoncello, Campari, and Italian bitters. From there, the buffet unfolds with a rich selection of regional Italian favourites and coastal indulgences. Highlights include grilled picanha wagyu steak, risotto with veal ossobuco prepared in a parmesan wheel, Tuscan-style crispy porchetta, chicken Milanese, Neapolitan-style pizzas, fried calamari, and carpaccio di mare with octopus, tuna, and swordfish.
Seafood lovers can linger at the Seafood Grill, where tiger prawns, slipper lobster, and local fish bring a fresh seaside note to the occasion. A live Pasta Station adds theatre and comfort
with Italian classics such as tagliatelle, ravioli, lasagna, seafood spaghetti, and cacio e pepe, while a Burrata Bar offers creamy burrata and stracciatella for those who prefer their indulgence soft, rich, and beautifully simple.
Vegetarian antipasti and salads add balance, while the Dessert Station brings the feast to a sweet Italian close with traditional favourites including tiramisu, torta paesana, and torta al limone. Priced at THB 1,499++ per person, with an optional free-flow beverage package at THB 1,088++, the Italian Summer Ferragosto Feast is a sun-drenched invitation to dine the Italian way—slowly, generously, and in very good company.

PISCES Charts a Quieter Course Through the Andaman
Launching in Phuket this July, Cape Odyssey’s new luxury catamaran introduces a more spacious, considered way to explore Phang Nga Bay and the Andaman Sea.
Cape Odyssey is bringing a new level of restraint and refinement to Phuket’s yachting scene with the July 2026 debut of PISCES, a purpose-built luxury catamaran designed for exclusive shared voyages and bespoke private charters across Phang Nga Bay and the Andaman Sea. Created at a cost of USD 2 million, the vessel represents a significant investment in its class, combining craftsmanship, privacy, and the instinctive service culture of a team shaped by more than three decades in luxury hospitality.
That pedigree comes from the award-winning Cape & Kantary Hotels group, whose hospitality heritage gives PISCES its quiet point of difference. Behind the project is Cape Odyssey founder Pai – Pongvarut Pangsrivongse, whose family connection to the Andaman runs deep. Cape Panwa Hotel hosted Phuket Raceweek for more
than a decade, while sister companies include Cape Yacht Charter and John Gray’s Sea Canoe. The name PISCES carries personal meaning too: it is Pai’s star sign, shared with his twin brother Prow, and has long been the emblem of the family’s Cape Hotel Collection.
At 26 metres long and 10.8 metres wide, PISCES is among the largest catamarans operating in Phuket, though its appeal lies as much in atmosphere as scale. Built with a high-grade fibreglass hull for a lighter, quieter ride, the vessel features generous solid teak decks, a large air-conditioned saloon with 360-degree views, an integrated sound system and DJ booth, multideck flybridge, shaded lounges, sun beds, a floating ocean pool, and private ensuite cabins. Cruising comfortably at 15 knots, PISCES allows smoother passages and more time in the places that matter.
Its Exclusive Shared Voyages are deliberately capped at 45 guests, far below the capacity often found on vessels of similar size, ensuring room to breathe and space to gather in private corners

rather than crowded rows. Departing Ao Po at 11.00 and returning at 19.00, the voyage explores Phang Nga Bay, including Naka Island, James Bond Island, Koh Phanak, Koh Hong, limestone cliffs, sea caves, and hidden lagoons, all accompanied by an onboard music curator who keeps the mood relaxed, sunlit, and golden-hour ready.
For private occasions, PISCES is available for bespoke charters of up to 70 guests, with personalised itineraries to destinations such as Phi Phi, Khai, Koh Hong, and Racha. On board, dining spans Mediterranean, Thai, and contemporary European cuisine, with signature sushi hand rolls, premium seafood towers by pre-order, and a cocktail programme curated for the rhythm of a day at sea.
PISCES launches in Phuket in July 2026. For reservations and enquiries, call (+66) 084 393 4531, visit https:// piscesphuket.com/, or email reservations@capeodyssey-phuket.com.

Kamalaya Shines a Light on the Power of Gut Health
At the award-winning wellness sanctuary in Thailand, the Enriched Gut programme helps guests restore balance from within through nutrition, holistic therapies, and personalised care.
Gut health has become one of the defining conversations in modern wellness, and Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary is placing it firmly at the centre of whole-body wellbeing. Long admired for its integrative approach to healing, the award-winning sanctuary in Thailand is highlighting the vital role the digestive system plays not only in digestion, but also in immunity, energy, sleep, skin health, metabolism, and emotional balance.
The idea is not new. The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates is often credited with the belief that all disease begins in the gut, and more than 2,000 years later, modern science continues to explore just how influential the digestive system is. At the heart of this conversation is the microbiome: the vast community of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms living in the digestive tract.

With around 70% of the body’s immune cells located in the gut, it is increasingly understood that an imbalance can be felt far beyond the stomach.
At Kamalaya, the dedicated Enriched Gut programme is designed to help guests restore balance from the inside out. Drawing on the latest scientific understanding alongside holistic healing traditions, the programme combines personalised nutritional guidance with a predominantly plant-based, nutrient-rich approach created to support the microbiome and optimise digestive function. The aim is not a quick reset, but a deeper recalibration—one that gives the body a steadier foundation for long-term vitality.
Treatments are thoughtfully layered to address both the physical and energetic dimensions of digestive health. Guests may experience Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage, Ayurvedic Kati Vasti therapy, ozone therapy, and targeted infusion therapies, alongside yoga, meditation, pranayama, acupuncture, and cupping. These are guided by Kamalaya’s multidisciplinary
team of wellness consultants, naturopaths, Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners, and movement specialists, ensuring each journey is both personalised and comprehensive.
Nutrition remains central. A varied diet rich in fibre, healthy fats, quality protein, and minimally processed foods helps nourish beneficial gut bacteria, while consistent eating habits, stress management, and restorative sleep support the body’s natural rhythms. Persistent bloating, fatigue, disturbed sleep, skin changes, and frequent minor infections may all suggest that the gut is asking for attention.
As Kamalaya’s Naturopath and Wellness Consultant Rita Castanhito observes, looking after the gut is not about tending to a single organ, but supporting the ground on which immunity, metabolism, and mood are built. In that philosophy lies the quiet intelligence of the Enriched Gut programme: nourish the gut well, and the whole body is given more room to thrive.

SunRay Social & Swim Club Debuts at SAii Koh Samui Villas
A new poolside and beachfront concept by S Hotels & Resorts blends daylight socialising, relaxed dining, music, wellness, and easy connection by the water.
S Hotels & Resorts is introducing a fresh expression of leisure with the launch of SunRay Social & Swim Club, a new concept designed around the pleasures of daytime connection, poolside ease, and unhurried beachfront living. Soft launching on 1 August at SAii Koh Samui Villas, the brand’s adult-only retreat, SunRay will be available exclusively to adult guests, creating an intimate setting for meaningful moments, shared experiences, and quality time in the sun.
Rather than leaning into the intensity of nightlife, SunRay follows a softer rhythm—one guided by daylight, water, music, and the simple joy of being together. The concept reflects a growing appetite for soulful daytime socialising, where guests can move effortlessly between wellness, dining, drinks, music, playful activities, and relaxed poolside conversation.
At SunRay Samui, the day unfolds through four distinctive moods. “First Light” begins with sunrise wellness sessions such as yoga and Pilates, setting a calm and restorative tone for early risers. As the morning drifts forward, “Morning Drift” invites guests to settle into pool floats, board games, and dedicated listening corners created in partnership with Gadhouse, the Bangkok-born turntable label admired for its retro-inspired design. With Henry turntables, feather-light Wesley headphones, and a vinyl library spanning moods and eras, the experience adds a tactile, nostalgic pleasure to the shore.
As the sun climbs higher, “Peak Sun” brings a more sociable energy centred around pool-friendly dining, refreshing drinks, and shared moments. Globally inspired comfort dishes, SunRay signatures, and local favourites are designed for leisurely grazing, lingering lunches, and relaxed dinners by the water. A drinks programme of sun-ready cocktails and easygoing serves leads naturally into daily Happy Hour from 15.00 to 17.00.
Playful programming keeps the mood spirited without feeling scheduled, from poolside games and waterproof Uno to Jenga and creative sustainable DIYs. As the day turns golden, “Golden Hour” introduces downtempo beats, sunset anthems, fire dance performances, live DJ and saxophone sessions, and Muay Thai dance showcases on selected days.
Following its Koh Samui debut, SunRay will make its official global launch in October, expanding to SAii’s beachfront resorts in Phuket and the Maldives. GHA DISCOVERY members can enjoy an exclusive SunRay Day Pass for THB 1,500, including pool access, signature activities, and THB 2,000 in food and beverage credit.

Thailand: A Retirement Life
Beautifully Within Reach

Thailand has again affirmed its place among the world’s most desirable retirement destinations, earning second place in the Expatriate Group’s 2026 Retirement Abroad Index. With a score of 77 out of 100, the Kingdom finished just one point behind the Philippines, which took the top position, confirming what many international residents have long understood: Thailand offers an exceptionally attractive blend of affordability, comfort, climate, healthcare and lifestyle.
For those considering life after work, retirement is no longer defined simply by stepping away from a career. Increasingly, it is about choosing a setting that allows life to feel richer, calmer and more rewarding. Thailand answers that desire with rare confidence. It is a country where the practical and the pleasurable meet with ease: modern hospitals and morning markets, beachside homes and vibrant city life, excellent food and a warm climate, established expat communities and a culture known for hospitality.
The Expatriate Group’s ranking is especially meaningful because it looks beyond holiday appeal. As a London-based international insurance provider, the company understands the issues that matter when people are planning to live overseas for the long term. A retirement destination must offer more than scenic beauty. It must be manageable, medically reliable, financially sensible and welcoming enough to become home.
Thailand’s score reflects strength across several of those essential categories. It is not simply a tropical escape, nor merely an affordable alternative to more expensive countries. It is a mature retirement destination, with the infrastructure, services and lifestyle variety to suit many different kinds of retirees.

Affordability remains one of Thailand’s most powerful advantages. For retirees coming from North America, Europe or Australia, everyday life in Thailand can offer a level of comfort that would be significantly more expensive elsewhere. Housing, dining, transport, domestic help, wellness treatments and leisure activities are often more accessible, allowing retirement savings to stretch further without requiring a life of compromise.
That matters enormously for those living on pensions, investments or fixed incomes. Financial breathing room brings peace of mind. It allows retirees to dine out more often, travel domestically, enjoy regular healthcare check-ups, hire assistance when needed, or choose a home with more space and comfort. In Thailand, value is not simply about spending less; it is often about living better.
Healthcare is another cornerstone of Thailand’s appeal. In Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hua Hin and other established expat centres, retirees have access to modern private hospitals, specialist clinics and internationally accustomed medical staff. Many doctors speak English, and private healthcare in Thailand has long attracted patients from around the region. For older adults, this combination of quality, accessibility and relative affordability is one of the most reassuring reasons to consider the Kingdom.
Yet the retirement appeal of Thailand cannot be measured by practicalities alone. The country’s deeper charm lies in the atmosphere of daily life. Warm weather encourages outdoor living throughout the year. Mornings can begin with a walk by the sea, a round of golf, a swim, or coffee in a neighbourhood café. Lunch may be fresh seafood, a bowl of noodles, or a leisurely meal with friends. The pace is gentle without being dull, sociable without being intrusive.
Thailand also offers a remarkable variety of places to settle. Chiang Mai appeals to those who prefer a cooler northern climate, cultural richness, temples, cafés, markets and a slower rhythm. It is often favoured by retirees who want value, community and a more contemplative lifestyle.

Hua Hin, by contrast, offers one of the country’s most balanced retirement settings. Long associated with royal heritage and seaside refinement, it combines coastal calm with everyday convenience. There are good hospitals, golf courses, international supermarkets, restaurants, beachside condominiums, private villas and established residential communities. For many retirees, Hua Hin feels polished but relaxed, comfortable but not overwhelming.
Phuket offers a more cosmopolitan island lifestyle, with international connections, marinas, private healthcare, fine dining, luxury villas and a well-developed expat network. Koh Samui delivers a softer tropical rhythm, appealing to those who dream of island living with a wellness-oriented atmosphere and a strong sense of escape. Bangkok, meanwhile, remains the choice for those who want worldclass dining, culture, shopping, hospitals and the stimulation of a major Asian capital.

This range is one of Thailand’s greatest strengths. Retirement is deeply personal. Some people want beach walks and quiet evenings. Others want cultural events, restaurants, good hospitals and easy international flights. Some seek community, others privacy. Thailand offers all of these possibilities, often within a short flight or comfortable drive of one another.
The Philippines’ first-place finish in the Expatriate Group’s 2026 index reflects its own considerable strengths, including widespread English use, cultural familiarity for many foreigners and a retiree-friendly profile. Yet Thailand’s second-place result, only one point behind, is highly significant. It suggests that the Kingdom is not merely competitive, but very nearly at the top of the global field.
For many retirees, the difference between first and second place will come down less to statistics than to personal feeling. Thailand offers a particular kind of daily elegance: the grace of its hospitality, the sensory pleasure of its food, the ease of warm evenings, the beauty of temple bells and coastal light, the simple comfort of being able to shape one’s days with more freedom.
Of course, any move abroad requires thoughtful planning. Retirees should consider visas, health insurance, location, long-term medical needs, property choices and the realities of living in a different culture. But for those who plan carefully, Thailand offers an unusually rewarding proposition: a retirement that can be both practical and pleasurable, financially sensible and deeply enjoyable.
Thailand’s ranking as the second-best country in the world to retire in is therefore no surprise. It reflects a truth already visible in communities from Hua Hin to Chiang Mai, Phuket to Bangkok: the Kingdom has become one of the world’s most compelling places to begin a new chapter.
Here, retirement need not feel like a retreat from life. In Thailand, it can feel like an arrival.

Koh Samui
The Island the World Has Fallen in Love With

From secluded pool villas and transformative wellness retreats to sophisticated dining and days spent drifting through the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui has quietly perfected the art of tropical luxury.
There are islands one visits, and islands one falls hopelessly in love with. Koh Samui belongs firmly to the latter, a sentiment clearly shared by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, who recently voted it the Best Island in the World for 2026.
Once known primarily for its coconut plantations, palm-fringed beaches and laid-back backpacker spirit, Thailand’s celebrated Gulf island has matured into one of Asia’s most compelling luxury destinations. Its evolution has been assured rather than hurried, allowing Samui to retain the relaxed character that made it special while embracing a new generation of private villas, design-led resorts, destination restaurants and world-class wellness sanctuaries.
The island’s appeal is no longer simply its beauty, although there is certainly no shortage of that. Samui’s real luxury lies in the way it brings together privacy, nature, gastronomy and wellbeing without ever feeling overly polished or overproduced. The question is no longer whether to visit Koh Samui, but how to experience it properly.
The Rise of the Private Villa
Few destinations have embraced private-villa living as successfully as Koh Samui. Across the island, striking residences now rise above secluded bays, disappear into coconut-covered hillsides and open dramatically towards the Gulf of Thailand.
These are not merely oversized hotel suites. Many feel like fully realised private estates, complete with expansive living areas, infinity pools, landscaped gardens, spa rooms, fitness studios and teams of staff dedicated to creating an entirely personalised stay.
The architecture is as varied as the landscape. Sleek contemporary villas with floor-to-ceiling glass sit alongside refined tropical pavilions crafted from stone, timber and natural materials. Some are positioned to capture fiery sunsets, while others look across serene eastern bays as the morning light moves across the water.
For families and groups of friends, the attraction is obvious. Multi-bedroom compounds provide the freedom to gather when desired and retreat into privacy when needed. Cinema rooms, children’s pools, private chefs and round-the-clock concierge services elevate the experience further, creating a holiday shaped entirely around the guest.
Choosing a villa in Samui is therefore less about selecting the grandest property and more about finding one that reflects a particular way of living. Wellness-focused travellers may seek yoga decks, treatment rooms and cold-plunge pools, while culinary enthusiasts might prioritise a chef’s kitchen and a terrace designed for long dinners beneath the stars.
Wellness With Purpose
Koh Samui’s reputation as a wellness destination has developed steadily over several decades, but today the island offers something far more meaningful than an impressive spa menu.
Here, wellness is often immersive, highly personalised and genuinely transformative. A day may begin with sunrise meditation in an open-sided sala, followed by functional movement, nutritional consultations, herbal therapies or a deeply restorative Thai massage. Contemporary practices such as breathwork, sound healing, infrared therapy and sleep optimisation sit comfortably alongside traditions rooted in Thai medicine and Buddhist mindfulness.
The setting plays a significant role. Many retreats are tucked into jungle-clad hillsides or positioned above quiet stretches of coastline, creating an immediate sense of separation from everyday life. The sound of the sea, the warmth of the air and the island’s naturally slower rhythm become part of the treatment.

What distinguishes Samui from larger wellness destinations is its intimacy. Programmes are often highly personal, groups remain small and the surroundings feel more sanctuary than institution. There is room to disconnect without feeling isolated and to undertake serious physical or emotional renewal without sacrificing comfort.
For modern travellers increasingly interested in longevity, balance and mental clarity, Samui offers the rare possibility of returning home not simply rested, but genuinely restored.
An Island Dining Scene Comes of Age
There was a time when island dining was expected to be picturesque rather than particularly ambitious. Koh Samui has moved well beyond that assumption.
Its culinary scene now ranges from elegant resort restaurants and intimate chef’s tables to sophisticated beachfront venues where fine dining is served with bare feet in the sand. Many of the island’s most interesting kitchens combine international technique with unmistakably Thai ingredients, creating menus that feel contemporary while retaining a strong connection to place.
Fresh seafood naturally plays a leading role, joined by coconut, lemongrass, galangal, tropical fruit and the bold flavours of Southern Thai cuisine. A single tasting menu might move effortlessly between local fishing traditions, European technique and modern Asian presentation.
The atmosphere is equally important. Dinner may unfold on a candlelit terrace overlooking the sea, in a dramatic hillside dining room or beside the beach as the final light disappears across the horizon.
Samui also rewards those prepared to make food part of the itinerary rather than treating it as an afterthought. An evening might begin with cocktails at a cliffside bar, continue with a carefully composed tasting menu and end beneath the stars at one of the island’s stylish beach clubs.
For villa guests, a private chef offers another particularly appealing option. Local produce and freshly caught seafood can be transformed into a restaurant-quality dinner without leaving the privacy of home. It is indulgent, certainly, but also wonderfully relaxed, which may be the most Samui form of luxury of all.

Beach Clubs, Samui Style
Koh Samui’s beach clubs bring a more sociable rhythm to island life, combining relaxed days by the water with stylish dining, music and an atmosphere that often gathers momentum as sunset approaches.
Among the most recognisable is Nikki Beach Koh Samui, set on the tranquil shores of Lipa Noi. Founded in Miami in 1998, Nikki Beach pioneered the original luxury beach-club concept, bringing together music, dining, entertainment, fashion, film and art in a format that would subsequently travel around the world.
Its Samui outpost translates that celebrated formula into an unmistakably tropical setting of palms, expansive daybeds and sweeping Gulf views. It captures another side of the island’s appeal: glamorous yet relaxed, international in spirit and still intimately connected to the sea.
Freedom on the Water
Much of Koh Samui’s magic becomes even clearer when viewed from the sea.
The island is surrounded by calm bays, hidden beaches and a scattering of smaller islands that invite exploration by yacht, motorboat or catamaran. Beyond the immediate coastline lies Ang Thong National Marine Park, an extraordinary archipelago of limestone islands, emerald lagoons and protected marine landscapes.
A day on the water can be as active or effortless as one chooses. Guests might snorkel above colourful reefs, paddleboard into a deserted bay, swim from an empty stretch of sand or simply remain on deck as lunch is served and the coastline passes slowly in the distance.
Private charters make it possible to avoid fixed routes and busy schedules. The day can unfold according to weather, mood and appetite, perhaps ending at anchor with Champagne as the sun sets over the Gulf.
Compared with some of Southeast Asia’s more heavily travelled marine destinations, the waters around Samui can still feel refreshingly unhurried. There remains a sense of discovery, of finding somewhere quiet and beautiful that has not been arranged purely for the benefit of visitors.

Luxury With a Quieter Heartbeat
Perhaps Koh Samui’s greatest achievement is not what it has become, but what it has managed to preserve.
International hotel brands, ambitious restaurants and spectacular private residences have arrived, yet the island still retains a genuine sense of intimacy. Coconut groves continue to shape the landscape. Small cafés and family-run restaurants sit comfortably alongside glamorous resorts. Fishermen still work along parts of the shoreline, and quiet roads continue to curve through villages and tropical greenery.
Samui’s luxury is not about constant spectacle. It is found in the pauses between experiences: hearing the sea from a private terrace, watching the light change over the water or walking along a beach before the island has fully awakened.
Compared with Phuket, which is brilliant, energetic and expansive, Samui offers something softer. It is more contained, more personal and often more discreet. There is less pressure to see everything and more encouragement simply to settle into the rhythm of the island.
To experience Koh Samui properly is therefore to resist the temptation to overplan. Choose a beautiful place to stay, make time for wellness, reserve a few memorable dinners and spend at least one day exploring the sea. Then leave room for the unexpected: a roadside café, an empty stretch of beach, a market visit or an afternoon with nowhere particular to be.
Koh Samui’s appeal cannot be reduced to rankings, trends or the arrival of another celebrated hotel. Its success lies in the way the island brings together privacy, beauty, wellbeing and sophisticated hospitality while remaining recognisably itself.
For travellers seeking more than another tropical escape, Koh Samui offers something increasingly rare: an island that feels both elevated and deeply human, polished yet personal, and luxurious without ever trying too hard.

Bangkok’s New Luxury Era:
How Thailand’s Capital Became Southeast Asia’s Style Epicentre

From prestigious new boutiques and world-leading hotels to Michelin-starred dining and highly personalised experiences, Bangkok is confidently redefining luxury on its own terms.
Bangkok’s emergence as one of Southeast Asia’s most compelling luxury destinations is no longer a prediction. It is unfolding in plain sight, written across gleaming new boutiques, ambitious hospitality projects, private dining rooms and the banks of the Chao Phraya River.
Once regarded primarily as a vibrant gateway to Thailand’s islands, beaches and cultural treasures, the capital has become a destination in its own right. Today, Bangkok luxury travel is shaped by far more than five-star hotels and designer shopping. It is an intoxicating combination of fashion, gastronomy, wellness, art and distinctly Thai hospitality—delivered with a confidence that feels increasingly global.
The latest wave of international boutique openings provides persuasive evidence. Since the beginning of 2026, Alaïa, Moncler, Zimmermann, Patek Philippe and Richard Mille have all expanded their presence in Bangkok. Alaïa chose Central Embassy for its first boutique in Thailand, while Richard Mille opened its debut Thai boutique at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. Patek Philippe, meanwhile, unveiled an intimate new boutique at Gaysorn Village.
These are not simply new shops. They represent significant votes of confidence from brands that choose their locations with extraordinary care.
A City Fashioned for Discovery
Bangkok’s appeal lies in its ability to make luxury feel less regimented and considerably more alive. The city does not ask visitors to choose between refinement and spontaneity; it offers both, often within the same afternoon.
One might begin with a private viewing of a limited-edition timepiece, continue with afternoon tea beneath a contemporary art installation and conclude at a chef’s table overlooking the river. Between those moments, there may be a temple glimpsed through tropical foliage, a beautifully restored heritage building or an irresistible detour through Bangkok’s endlessly inventive neighbourhoods.
This contrast is central to the city’s character. Bangkok does not place luxury behind velvet ropes and leave it there. It allows it to mingle with culture, street life, architecture and a certain delightful unpredictability. The result is a destination that feels layered and sensory rather than overly choreographed.
For a new generation of affluent travellers, that distinction matters. Luxury is increasingly measured not by how much is displayed, but by how deeply an experience is felt.

Hospitality That Commands Global Attention
Bangkok’s luxury evolution extends well beyond retail. Along the Chao Phraya River, a new generation of hotels has transformed the city’s hospitality landscape and strengthened its position on the world stage.
Capella Bangkok and Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River have become defining examples. In 2024, Capella Bangkok was named the world’s best hotel by The World’s 50 Best Hotels. One year later, Four Seasons Bangkok placed second globally, with Capella following closely in third—an extraordinary showing for two neighbouring properties in the same city.
Their success reflects a broader change in what discerning guests expect. Impressive suites and polished service remain essential, but they are only the beginning. The modern luxury hotel must also provide a sense of place, emotional connection and privileged access to experiences unavailable elsewhere.
Bangkok’s finest properties increasingly operate as cultural destinations. Their programmes extend to art, design, gastronomy, wellness and private events, allowing guests to engage with the city rather than simply observe it through a window.
Access Is the New Luxury
Perhaps the most important shift taking place in Bangkok luxury retail is the movement from possession to access.
For high-net-worth clients, the most coveted commodity is often not the item displayed in a boutique, but the opportunity surrounding it: a private salon appointment, an invitation-only preview, a piece unavailable to the wider market or a bespoke service shaped around personal tastes.
Global brands are responding with increasingly sophisticated private-client experiences. Dedicated salons, discreet entrances, personalised sourcing and intimate brand events are becoming integral to Bangkok’s luxury environment. The emphasis is moving away from conspicuous consumption and towards rarity, privacy and personal relevance.
In a city celebrated for the warmth of its hospitality, this more human approach feels particularly natural. Bangkok understands the value of recognition—the subtle but powerful pleasure of being remembered, understood and welcomed back.

A Dining Capital in Full Bloom
No portrait of luxury living in Bangkok would be complete without food. The city’s culinary reputation has long rested on its legendary street food, but its fine-dining scene has matured into one of the most dynamic in Asia.
Michelin-starred restaurants, progressive Thai kitchens and internationally acclaimed chefs now sit alongside private dining rooms, omakase counters and riverfront destinations. The breadth is remarkable, but Bangkok’s greatest culinary strength is not simply variety. It is the ability to evolve without surrendering identity.
At the highest level, Thai ingredients and regional traditions are being reconsidered through contemporary techniques and imaginative presentation. Memories, landscapes and family recipes are transformed into sophisticated tasting menus, yet the essential flavours remain unmistakably rooted in Thailand.
This sense of place gives Bangkok an advantage that cannot easily be replicated. The city’s best restaurants do not merely serve impressive food; they tell stories that belong here.

Wellbeing, the Bangkok Way
Wellness has become another defining pillar of luxury tourism in Bangkok. Thailand’s traditions of therapeutic massage, herbal medicine and mindful care now coexist with advanced medical spas, longevity programmes and highly personalised health treatments.
Within the city’s leading hotels and standalone wellness centres, centuries-old Thai practices are being paired with modern diagnostics, aesthetic medicine, nutrition and restorative therapies. The result appeals to international visitors and affluent residents alike—particularly those for whom wellbeing has become a central measure of a life well lived.
This is not wellness as an occasional indulgence. It is an increasingly integrated lifestyle, encompassing sleep, movement, mental health, preventative care and longevity.
Where Global Influence Meets Thai Creativity
Bangkok’s luxury ascent is also being propelled by its designers, artists, entrepreneurs and cultural tastemakers. Fashion presentations, art fairs, gallery openings and high-profile social events have helped position the city as a creative platform for Southeast Asia.
Thai designers are gaining greater international recognition for work that combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes and materials. Their influence adds depth to a fashion landscape that might otherwise be dominated by imported names.
The same is true across art, jewellery, interiors and hospitality. Bangkok is not becoming important merely because global brands are arriving. It is becoming important because those brands are entering a city with its own creative confidence.
Digital culture has accelerated that influence. Bangkok’s luxury consumers are highly connected, visually sophisticated and comfortable moving between physical and online worlds. Boutiques and hotels are no longer experienced only in person; they are discovered through social media, shared across borders and woven into aspirational narratives that reach millions.

A Luxury Capital with a Character of Its Own
Bangkok’s strategic advantages are considerable. Thailand’s strong tourism infrastructure, expanding luxury developments and position at the heart of Southeast Asia make the capital an attractive base for international investment. It also serves affluent consumers from neighbouring countries who increasingly regard Bangkok as a preferred destination for shopping, dining, healthcare and sophisticated urban escapes. Yet economics alone cannot explain the city’s allure.
What distinguishes Bangkok is its ability to hold opposites in perfect tension: ceremony and informality, heritage and reinvention, polished sophistication and joyful chaos. Luxury here is not confined to a single shopping district or exclusive enclave. It appears in a riverfront villa, an exquisitely prepared plate, an artisan’s workshop, a private gallery or a treatment informed by generations of Thai wisdom.
Bangkok is not attempting to imitate Paris, Milan, Hong Kong or Singapore. Nor does it need to. The city is developing its own language of luxury—experiential, culturally grounded, highly personal and never entirely predictable.
The world’s most prestigious brands have clearly taken notice. For travellers, investors and tastemakers, the message is equally compelling: Bangkok is no longer waiting to be recognised as a luxury capital. It has arrived.

AZUL V, A Classic CRN Reborn
For Modern Escapes
YACHT

There are yachts that impress through novelty, and others that command attention through pedigree, proportion and presence. AZUL V, the 48.2-metre motor yacht built by CRN Ancona, belongs firmly to the latter category. Delivered in 1996 and substantially rebuilt in 2015, she carries the graceful lines of a more classical era of yachting, while offering the deck space, guest comfort and ocean-going capability expected of a serious modern superyacht.
With exterior design by the late Paolo Scanu and interiors by Zuretti Design, AZUL V reflects a period when superyachts were created with permanence in mind. Her profile is elegant and assured: a white steel hull, aluminium superstructure, broad teak decks and a balanced silhouette that feels particularly well suited to the island-dotted cruising grounds of Southeast Asia. At 48.2 metres in length, with a beam of 9.1 metres and a gross tonnage of 497GT, she offers substantial volume without losing the sense of intimacy that makes a yacht feel truly private.

AZUL V’s story took an important turn in 2015, when she underwent a transformative rebuild. That work was significant enough for her to receive recognition at the 2016 World Superyacht Awards in the Rebuilt Yacht category. It is an important distinction, because AZUL V is not simply a classic yacht with history; she is a classic yacht thoughtfully renewed for contemporary enjoyment.
Life on board is centred around generous outdoor living. Her sun deck has been designed for long, unhurried days at sea, with a jacuzzi dip pool, bar, sun pads and space for wellness or light gym activity. It is the sort of deck that invites guests to begin the morning with coffee under open skies, spend the afternoon in the water, and return for sunset drinks as the coastline softens into gold.
The upper aft deck offers another inviting space, ideal for open-air dining with a backdrop of sea and islands, while the main aft deck provides practical tender storage and easy access to the water. For guests cruising in Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia, this balance of comfort and utility is especially appealing. AZUL V is clearly designed not just to be admired from the marina, but to be used, explored and enjoyed.
Her accommodation is arranged across six cabins. The full-beam master suite is positioned forward on the main deck and includes a private study, his-and-hers ensuite bathrooms with tub, and generous living space. A full-beam VIP cabin on the lower deck adds a private salon and ensuite facilities, while additional guest accommodation includes a double cabin on the main deck, two twin cabins on the lower deck, and a single cabin on the upper deck. It is a flexible layout that works equally well for family cruising, extended stays with friends, or charter-style hospitality.
Inside, AZUL V has the warm, traditional character of a yacht built for extended living. Rich timber joinery, soft neutral furnishings and polished detailing give her interiors a residential quality that feels timeless rather than trend-driven. The sky lounge and upper deck lounge are intimate and inviting, with a library-like warmth that contrasts with the colder minimalism often found on newer yachts. For owners who appreciate craftsmanship, comfort and heritage, this is part of her enduring charm.

Her onboard systems and domestic facilities further reinforce her long-range credentials. The main galley is comprehensively equipped, supported by laundry facilities, refrigeration, ice makers, wine storage and pantry spaces. Entertainment is available throughout the yacht, with audio systems in the main salon, sun deck, owner’s cabin, guest cabins and crew areas, ensuring that life on board remains comfortable whether cruising, entertaining or at anchor.
Performance comes from twin 2,285hp Deutz-MWM diesel engines, driving twin screw propulsion. AZUL V can reach a maximum speed of up to 17 knots, with a comfortable cruising speed and an impressive reported range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. For a yacht of this style, the appeal is not simply speed, but confidence, endurance and the ability to cruise seriously and comfortably over long distances.
For active guests, the watersports inventory is a major part of her lifestyle offering. AZUL V carries a 6.2-metre Jet RIB with 150hp, a Sea-Doo GTR 215, wakeboard, waterski, towable tubes, water bouncer, AirSUP boards, snorkelling gear and fishing equipment. This is the equipment list of a yacht intended for warm-water cruising, where the sea itself becomes the main playground.
There is also a practical regional appeal. AZUL V is flagged in Malaysia and lying in Asia, making her particularly relevant for buyers and charter clients already focused on Southeast Asian waters. From Phuket and Phang Nga Bay to Langkawi, the Andaman Sea and beyond, she offers a compelling platform for discovering some of the world’s most beautiful cruising grounds without the complications of repositioning from Europe or the Americas.

In many ways, AZUL V represents a compelling alternative to the new-build market. She offers proven pedigree, serious volume, classic Italian yacht design, generous accommodation, extensive deck living and long-range cruising ability, all within a yacht that has already undergone a significant rebuild. She is elegant without being ostentatious, capable without feeling commercial, and traditional without appearing dated.
AZUL V is not trying to be the newest yacht in the anchorage. Her appeal is more enduring than that. She offers space, privacy, craftsmanship and the timeless pleasure of discovering the world by sea. For an owner drawn to Southeast Asia’s tropical waters, she is not simply a yacht; she is a private floating world, ready for the next chapter.

THE ULTIMATE DAY CRUISER

Bentley Flying Spur
A Grand Tourer with a Supercar Soul
Substantial, exquisitely appointed and astonishingly quick, the Bentley Flying Spur combines limousine refinement with the dynamic character of a far smaller performance car
There are certain rules in motoring that are generally considered non-negotiable. Weight dulls acceleration. Size compromises agility. Limousine comfort and sports-car performance sit at opposite ends of the automotive spectrum. Then there is the Bentley Flying Spur.
Weighing well over two tonnes and stretching more than 5.3 metres from nose to tail, Bentley’s four-door grand tourer possesses the physical

presence usually associated with being driven rather than driving. Yet press the accelerator, guide it into a sweeping bend or take command of a winding road, and the Flying Spur reveals its supercar soul.
It does not so much break the laws of physics as persuade them to behave more politely. Even at rest, the Bentley Flying Spur commands attention. Its long bonnet, muscular rear haunches and imposing upright grille give it unmistakable authority, while beautifully judged proportions prevent its considerable dimensions from feeling cumbersome.
The design is stately without becoming conservative and sporting without appearing aggressive. Bentley’s signature matrix grille, jewel-like lighting and sculpted bodywork create a sense of occasion entirely appropriate for the entrance of a luxury residence, five-star hotel or prestigious private estate.
For buyers of luxury real estate in Thailand, particularly those accustomed to the refined surroundings of Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui or Hua Hin, the Flying Spur feels like a natural extension of the lifestyle. It is not simply transportation between a penthouse, private villa, country club and fine-dining restaurant. It is part of the arrival.
That sense of presence has always been central to Bentley, although the Flying Spur’s appeal extends far beyond its exterior styling.

For many years, the Bentley Flying Spur was synonymous with the marque’s celebrated 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine. Smooth, immensely powerful and effortlessly refined, it provided the car with the seemingly limitless reserves of performance expected from one of the world’s great luxury brands.
The W12 helped establish the Flying Spur’s remarkable identity: a full-sized luxury saloon capable of delivering supercar-rivalling acceleration without disturbing the composure of those seated inside.
Bentley’s latest Flying Spur models use electrified V8 powertrains that preserve the effortless force of their predecessors while introducing greater efficiency, immediate electric torque and the ability to travel shorter distances using electric power alone.
At the summit sits the Bentley Flying Spur Speed and its Ultra Performance Hybrid system, combining a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with an electric motor. Together, they produce 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, making this the most powerful four-door Bentley ever created.
The result is acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in approximately 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 285 km/h. Those figures would be impressive in a lightweight supercar. In an opulently appointed four-door Bentley, they border on the extraordinary.
Yet outright speed is only one part of the story. The defining achievement is the way the Bentley Flying Spur deploys its performance: progressively, confidently and without unnecessary drama. There is immense force beneath the driver’s right foot, but it arrives with the polished manners expected of a true luxury grand tourer.
A powerful engine can make a heavy car fast in a straight line. Making that same car feel agile through corners is a far more complicated challenge. This is where Bentley’s engineering becomes particularly impressive.
The Flying Spur’s sophisticated chassis incorporates active all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, adaptive air suspension and Bentley Dynamic Ride. Working together, these technologies continually manage the car’s considerable mass, allowing it to change direction with a precision that initially seems at odds with its size.
At lower speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the fronts. This effectively shortens the wheelbase, reduces the turning circle and makes the Bentley Flying Spur easier to manoeuvre through hotel entrances, Bangkok car parks and the tighter roads surrounding Thailand’s exclusive residential communities.
At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels, increasing stability during lane changes and faster cornering. The result is a luxury sedan that feels more manageable in town and more secure on the open road.
The system does not disguise the Flying Spur’s dimensions entirely. Instead, it makes those dimensions feel beautifully controlled.

Bentley Dynamic Ride
Another vital element in the Flying Spur’s supercar-like handling is Bentley Dynamic Ride, the marque’s 48-volt active anti-roll control system.
In a conventional luxury saloon, soft suspension improves comfort but allows the body to lean during cornering. Firmer suspension reduces that movement but can compromise ride quality. Bentley Dynamic Ride is designed to minimise the need for such a trade-off.
Electronic actuators can alter the stiffness of the anti-roll system in response to changing road conditions. During cornering, the technology counters lateral forces to keep the body flatter and maintain tyre contact with the road. On straighter or less demanding surfaces, the system relaxes, helping preserve the smooth, cosseting ride expected from a Bentley.
The effect from behind the wheel is deeply impressive. There is little of the delayed response or exaggerated body movement one might expect from such a substantial luxury car. The Flying Spur turns accurately, settles quickly and carries its weight with remarkable composure.
Adaptive air suspension adds another layer of refinement, continually balancing comfort, body control and road isolation. Whether moving through Bangkok traffic, travelling south towards Hua Hin or taking on Phuket’s winding coastal roads, the Bentley Flying Spur adjusts its character with near-imperceptible precision.
The Flying Spur’s greatest luxury may be its versatility. Select a comfort-oriented driving mode and the Bentley becomes a serene private lounge. Road imperfections are softened, engine noise recedes and the outside world seems to move at a respectful distance. Rear-seat passengers can conduct business, enjoy the scenery or simply appreciate the quiet.

Change to Sport mode and the character shifts. The responses sharpen, the transmission becomes more assertive and the chassis tightens its control. The steering feels more immediate and the immense reserves of power become considerably more apparent.
The transformation is not theatrical or artificial. It simply reveals the supercar soul that had been discreetly waiting beneath the surface. Few automobiles are equally convincing as a chauffeur-driven luxury limousine and an engaging driver’s car. The Bentley Flying Spur succeeds because neither role feels secondary.
Inside, the Flying Spur remains unmistakably Bentley. Hand-finished leather, precisely matched veneers, intricate stitching and beautifully weighted metal controls create an environment that feels crafted rather than manufactured. The cabin combines traditional British coachbuilding influences with contemporary technology, without allowing screens and digital interfaces to overwhelm the experience.
Depending on specification, Bentley’s rotating central display can present a touchscreen, three analogue instruments or a clean section of veneer. It is a wonderfully indulgent solution to a modern luxury dilemma: how to offer advanced technology without allowing it to dominate the interior.
The cabin can also be extensively personalised. Buyers may choose from a remarkable selection of hides, veneers, stitching patterns, embroidery, colour combinations and bespoke details, particularly through Bentley’s Mulliner commissioning division.
For owners accustomed to commissioning a luxury villa in Thailand—selecting stone, timber, fabrics, lighting and handcrafted furniture—the process will feel familiar. A Bentley Flying Spur can be tailored with much the same attention to individuality as a bespoke residence. Both represent an expression of personal taste, craftsmanship and an appreciation for details that may not be immediately obvious but are continually felt.
Thailand presents an intriguing environment for a car such as the Flying Spur. Its comfort and refinement are ideally suited to long-distance journeys between Bangkok and the Kingdom’s leading resort destinations. Its allwheel-drive capability and sophisticated chassis inspire confidence when tropical weather becomes less predictable. Its electric assistance brings quiet, immediate response to urban driving, while its handcrafted cabin provides a welcome retreat from the energy outside.
Just as importantly, the Bentley Flying Spur belongs naturally within Thailand’s evolving luxury landscape. The country’s finest branded residences, private pool villas, five-star resorts, championship golf estates and marina communities increasingly appeal to buyers who view luxury not as a single purchase, but as a complete and carefully curated way of life. The Bentley fits comfortably into that world. It has the visual authority to complement an exceptional luxury property, the refinement to serve as executive transport and the performance to reward an owner who chooses to take the wheel.

The Bentley Flying Spur does not truly defy physics. Nothing weighing more than two tonnes can escape the realities of mass, momentum and inertia. What Bentley has achieved is arguably more impressive. Through hybrid power, active chassis technology, intelligent all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering and meticulous suspension engineering, the company has learned to manage those forces with extraordinary sophistication.
The Flying Spur can accelerate with the urgency of a supercar, corner with the confidence of a much smaller machine and carry its passengers with the serenity of a private lounge. It is commanding without being cumbersome, technologically advanced without losing its sense of tradition, and immensely powerful without sacrificing grace.
In a world filled with luxury cars that excel in one particular discipline, the Bentley Flying Spur refuses to choose. It is a limousine, a performance car and a continental grand tourer wrapped in one beautifully crafted and thoroughly imposing form.
A grand tourer, certainly—but one with an unmistakable supercar soul.

HOME OF THE MONTH

Beachfront Elegance in Bang Por, Koh Samui

LIVING AREA: 450 M 2
LAND AREA: 2,600 M 2
BEDROOMS: 5
BATHROOMS: 5
148,000,000 THB
A rare Koh Samui beachfront villa where travertine, tropical gardens, and two shimmering pools meet the quiet drama of the Gulf of Thailand.
On Koh Samui’s northern coast, Bang Por has long appealed to those who prefer their island luxury with space, calm, and a gentler rhythm. Here, the sea feels close, the sunsets arrive without ceremony, and the mood is more private retreat than resort performance. This exceptional five-bedroom beachfront villa captures that spirit beautifully, set directly on Bang Por Beach with 22.5 metres of absolute beachfront and a generous 2,600 sqm land plot.
The first impression is not one of excess, but of ease. Landscaped tropical gardens frame the residence, softening the architecture and drawing the eye naturally toward the water. The beach lies just beyond, placing the home in direct conversation with the Gulf of Thailand. It is an address for those who understand that true beachfront ownership is not simply about a view; it is about sound, light, air, and the daily privilege of being only steps from the sand.

The villa’s design is guided by openness and comfort, with an emphasis on tropical living that feels graceful rather than showy. Across approximately 950 sqm of total built area, including 450 sqm of interior living space, the home has been shaped as a private resort residence—substantial in scale, yet relaxed in atmosphere.
Floor-to-ceiling Sun Paradise doors and windows create a seamless relationship between interior and exterior, allowing light and sea air to move through the home with natural elegance. Travertine stone flows throughout, giving the property a sense of permanence and understated opulence. The material choice is important: cool underfoot, textural, and timeless, it connects the villa to a tradition of refined coastal architecture where luxury is expressed through proportion, surface, and restraint.
The villa is fully furnished and move-in ready, yet it avoids the feeling of a staged residence. Instead, the design invites immediate inhabitation: long mornings with doors open to the garden, late-afternoon swims, unhurried dinners, and quiet evenings when the beach becomes the home’s soundtrack.
Inside, the living spaces are expansive and composed, arranged for comfort, privacy, and a sense of effortless flow. The principal rooms open generously to the outdoors, allowing the home’s most important feature—the beachfront setting—to remain present from morning until night. Natural stone, glass, and carefully selected furnishings create a contemporary tropical atmosphere that feels polished without becoming precious.

The kitchen is appointed for serious use, with a high-end fully equipped layout that includes double ovens, a wine fridge, microwave, three-ring induction hob, built-in fridge and freezer, dishwasher, two kitchen islands, and two sinks. It is a space designed for both quiet daily rituals and the more elaborate pleasures of hosting, from casual breakfasts after a beach walk to candlelit dinners prepared with Samui seafood and served within sight of the sea.
The five spacious bedrooms each feature en-suite bathrooms, creating an easy sense of privacy for family and guests. The private quarters continue the villa’s understated language of comfort and elegance, with generous proportions and the calm of a home designed for long stays. A maid’s room with private bathroom, guest toilet, extensive storage areas, and practical infrastructure reinforce the villa’s ability to function as a substantial residence, not merely a holiday escape.
Additional wellness spaces add another layer of resort-like indulgence. A gym and spa room allow health and restoration to become part of daily life, whether beginning the morning with movement or ending the day in a quieter, more meditative rhythm.
The outdoor spaces are where this property becomes truly memorable. A spectacular 27-metre saltwater swimming pool with jacuzzi runs alongside the villa, creating a long, glittering axis of blue that mirrors the sea beyond. A second beachfront pool adds another dimension to the experience, offering a more intimate place to pause beside the sand.

The gardens have been thoughtfully landscaped, creating a private tropical setting that frames the architecture and enhances the transition from villa to beach. There is a strong sense of arrival here, but also of retreat—the feeling that the outside world has been politely edited away. With covered parking, government water supply, threephase government electricity, and a 3,000-litre rainwater collection system, the property also carries the practical strengths required of a significant island estate.
Part of a low-density luxury resort with staff and management on site, the villa offers an appealing balance between private ownership and supported ease. For an owner seeking a personal beachfront residence, it delivers space, beauty, and direct access to one of Koh Samui’s most desirable coastal settings. For those considering long-term investment, its scale, location, and resort-style infrastructure give it clear appeal in the upper tier of the island’s luxury rental market.
In Bang Por, where the island slows down and the sea takes centre stage, this villa offers something increasingly rare: absolute beachfront living with substance, privacy, and enduring elegance. It is not simply a home beside the water. It is a sanctuary shaped by the coast itself.
