10-year-old female presents with gradual onset of left knee pain

•

Painful fragmentation of the tibial tubercle seen most commonly at ages 10-15

Soft tissue swelling is generally present
•
Also see abnormality of the insertional patellar tendon with tendinosis and abnormal hyperemia of the tendon and soft tissues

Osgood Schlatter Disease •
3-5 times more common in males
•
Bilateral in 25-30% of cases
•
While the condition is often diagnosed by history and physical examination, ultrasound provides rapid confirmation and allows evaluation of the insertional patellar tendon
