CONSIGNED HEIFERS
Colin and Julie Lybeck have been purchasing bulls from us since the very beginning, and it’s safe to say this outstanding set of replacement heifers is backed predominantly by Whistling Winds Angus genetics.
Colin and Julie are committed to moderate-framed cattle that are efficient and productive — the kind that wean 50% of their body weight and go on to make practical, profitable cows. These March-April born heifers are currently averaging 750 pounds and are designed to mature into true 1,300-pound cows with longevity and function.
They have been fully vaccinated beginning at birth. This fall they received Bangs, Preg-Guard, and Clean-Up II pour-on, and they are on track and ready to breed this spring.
Colin and Julie have given us full access to their entire replacement pen, allowing us to sort and deliver to you a truly elite package of heifers.
We are proud to offer them.

It takes a crew, and we’re blessed with countless people working behind the scenes daily to make it all happen. The list is long, and we wouldn’t want to overlook a single name. We are sincerely grateful to each and every one of you.
What do the ratios mean?
Wean Ratio (WN RATIO): This compares the calf in relation to the rest in his contemorary group. The average is 100.
Dam Production Ratio: (DAM WN RATIO): This ratio shows how many calves that dam has had and how those calves compare to the rest of the herd at weaning (birth or yearling).
What does the “#” mean behind the pedigrees?
That animal is a Pathfinder. The Pathfinder Program in the Angus Association identifies superior Angus cows based upon recorded performance traits that are economically important to efficient beef production. To qualify for the report, a cow must have produced a calf measured through AHIR in the past 18 months.
In addition, bulls that have sired a minimum of five or more Pathfinder Cows are listed as Pathfinder Sires in this report.

My favorite Bardolier to date. His young dam is off to a great start with 3@101. Granddam is a Pathfinder dam to Definitive who left us with years of really good cows. He carries excellent shape, very clean and smooth front, tight sheath, wide top and travels out well. His dam calved AI again this year.

Located in the Golden Triangle, our ranch also farms, growing wheat and pulse crops. The cows winter at the ranch north of Hingham and summer from Highway 2 heading north to the Canadian border, taking advantage of the few and far between summer rains.
In the summer, grasses are tough and short. Average rainfall is less than 6 inches. Even so, cows wean an impressive amount of pounds.
Windy. Windy. Windy. That is our winter, along with the cold, below freezing and frigid temperatures. Even so, cows maintain great body condition.
Follow Whistling Winds Angus for sale updates and ranch happenings!
We strive to make the most of everything mother nature and science has to offer. Only the finest survive our extensive cull checklist, so you can be sure you are buying the best.
Our goal is to progress our registered Angus cattle through sustainable cows which produce calves that perform from the pasture to the feedlot. Our ideal cattle program is to raise cattle of moderate size with optimal milking and fertility; a functional cow with a balanced set of maternal and carcass traits.
Make plans to visit the ranch and view the cattle anytime.

Many good cow makers in this outcross type pedigree.
The reason we do embryo work is to try to multiply the superior cows in our herd. They are generally not the cows with the highest production record or cows with the highest growth EPDS. They are the cows that quietly do their job while maintaining very good overall structure. Meaning good feet and legs, udders, teats, attitude, mothering ability, and fertility. All traits equally important. 5160 is a cow we decided to flush because of all these characteristics. We wanted all heifers out of her, but we are able to offer a byproduct. She has produced multiple bulls working around Montana including one herd sire that did a great job for GDAR. She is deep bodied, modest framed, feminine fronted and a heifer bull producing son of a gun. She has a very acceptable production record with 19@101 for weaning. We are offering Dam of Lots 46 & 54.

Hondo is one of the “Duke’s” greatest creations! As the top seller at the 2024 Millar Angus Sale, Hondo ties their two most prominent and proven cow families together. With pathfinders stacked in - top and bottom - the maternal predictability is assured. Hondo is long bodied, level topped, sound structured and tremendously neat fronted. Hondo offers mating flexibility and is expected to sire stout sons that are complete in their design and daughters that make feminine, highly productive cows.
