We would like to cordially invite all of you to our annual bull sale. This year it will be held on Saturday, April 25th. This past year has been a year of records. Record high cattle prices have put a lot of optimism in the cattle business. There is no better time to invest in the functionality and sustainability of your cowherd. It has been a relatively mild winter in eastern Montana, and we are all raring to get these cattle calved out and on grass.
We are very pleased with the performance of these bulls. They were wintered in an 80-acre pasture, and they have spent the winter travelling. They are in excellent shape. They were fed the Top Gun Bull pellet by Purina mixed with sudan baleage and dry hay. The bulls will be semen tested in the middle of April. They will be ready to serve our customers.
Until a few days before we ship the bulls to Glasgow Stockyards, the bulls will be available to view at Logan’s place south of Terry. If you come to his place and stop for a visit, we will give you a $500 credit toward your bull purchases. This credit is good for the 2026 bull sale. It can be used for in person or online purchases.
Doris Ozark will be serving a great meal for everyone who makes the trip to Glasgow Stockyards. We will be around all morning before the sale to visit and help anyway needed.
Before the sale all signed up buyers physically in attendance will be put in a raffle for $3,500 of bull/female credit. This will be drawn before the sale begins, and you must be there in person to get this opportunity. This credit must be used at the 2026 Production Sale.
In addition, we will be offering 70-80 head of commercial replacement heifers. These were sorted directly out of our replacement pen. These are top notch heifers that are half siblings to every bull in the sale. They should be weighing around 800 lbs on sale day and ready for breeding. It is an excellent opportunity to get female genetics from the top of our commercial herd.
We really want to thank all our extremely loyal customers and friends. We couldn’t keep the legacy started by Monte and Dorothy all those years ago alive without you. We want to welcome any new customers as well. We encourage you to reach out and get to know us and the cattle. Post sale we will have pizza and drinks at the Elk’s Club and all are invited.
Sincerely,
The Eayrs Family
Logan, Kacie, Mark, Paul, Kelsey, Stephanie, and Dorothy

This year we used the Angus Association to order Genomic Profiles on all our bulls. The numbers are different from last year. These Genomic Profiles are compared to over 1 million cattle that are turned into their database.
Long. Story. Short. The lower the number is, the higher they are as a percentile of the population. Something with a 1 in Calving Ease Direct would be in the top 1 percent of the breed for calving ease.
The smaller the number, the better they are (per the Angus Association) for that trait.
Functional Longevity is a new EPD for the Angus Association. It is a predictor of how long the progeny of the cattle will stick around in your herd. Monte was a huge believer in using bulls out of old proven cows. A lot of these bulls rank very highly in this trait. With us just getting back into the registering cattle, we have not turned in many records to Angus....yet. We plan on turning in more data in the future as we get more registered cattle.
Please note: The EPDs on the Reference Sires are the regular EPD profiles from the American Angus Association website.
Logan has put in a Star System of our own based off his and Monte’s old records. We have birthweight records from Dad’s little red books that go back 30+ years. We know these cattle very well and it is our suggestion to follow the star rating when picking heifer bulls.
3 stars = a sleep all night heifer bull
2 stars = something that will likely sire more performance and would on larger heifers and cows
1 star = a cow bull

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!

Our cattle must do their job in the unpredictable environment of Southeastern Montana. In the part of Prairie County that we run our cattle, we only get around 10-12 inches of moisture a year. They summer in 5 section pastures and must travel to water. For a cow to make it here, she has to have an optimal (Monte did not like to use the term moderate) frame score, not too big but also not too small, good feet, and a nice udder. She must do it on grass that has very low protein with minimal summer supplementation. She has to wean as much of her body weight as possible and breed back every year.
No matter how good of a cow she is in real life or on paper, if she isn’t bred, she gets sold. There are no sacred cows on this outfit.

Help yourselves to these commercial replacement heifers. These were sorted directly out of our replacement pen. These are top notch heifers that are half siblings to every bull in the sale. They weighed around 735 lbs mid-March and will be ready for breeding. It is an excellent opportunity to get female genetics from the top of our commercial herd.

We take calving ease very seriously. We do not have a calving barn and our heifers are not checked at night. They calve out in large pastures on the range and are tagged on horseback. Our dad’s philosophy was easy to follow: if she’s a good old cow, she will raise good bulls and put longevity into the herd. Many of the home raised herd sires he kept were out of 10+ year old cows. This system has been in practice for the last 60 years.

For years we have fully stood behind our bulls but we believe it is time to put that on paper. Catalog design by
No sore shoulder, neck, or back
No crooked fingers or bones with breaks or cracks
No headaches, aching feet, or cramps will be a big change ‘Cause there’s no time for pain, riding on the Lord’s range
On the new spread he’ll stand straight and walk true He will smile big, laugh, and never be blue
On the new outfit there’s no fencing, haying, busted equipment and certainly no weeds to spray At last, there’s no pointless chores that waste a cowboy’s day
Up there, Dad’s favorite horses wait eagerly at the corral gate Of course it’s his favorites – Old Red, Fox, and Roany, but no Jim, he met a different fate
His saddle fits, he mounts with ease, and can ride like when he was young He ropes better than ever and swings loops like man has never seen swung
All the best cows are up there too from all the years and more Ready to have big fat calves like they did before
Yup, you guessed it. All his old cowboy heroes are up there like Wayne, Webb, Terry, Bob, Kelton, and Bill They will all gather ‘round telling stories upon a glorious hill
See God’s a firm believer in thin shit and deep tracks Because the cowponies up there never get tired, packing angels on their backs
So don’t you be sad for old Monte. It’s way better up there than here And everyone knows a good cowboy would never shed a tear
- Logan Eayrs
