news SUMMER 2025
ISSUE 46
Hello from Hope Against Cancer and welcome to our summer 2025 newsletter We have been amazed by the support of the community in 2025. It is a difficult time but our supporters have continually stepped up to help us fund vital local cancer research and we are immensely thankful. We have had dancers, runners, marmalade makers, friends who love tea, coffee and cake events, community groups, walkers, and businesses all taking the time to raise funds and awareness for HOPE. Our Business Club is growing and evolving and we have spoken to many people preparing to do all sorts of fantastic things on our behalf later in 2025, and on into 2026. Rick Moore, the Chair of Hope Against Cancer’s Trustee Board recently stepped down from the position and became our President and James Greenlees was voted in as our new Chair. James said, “It is a great honour to be taking up the role of Chair of HOPE following Rick Moore’s retirement. I have been involved with HOPE since ‘day one’ following its creation by my Aunt, Allison Wilson, and I have seen some incredible changes in the charity’s reputation and ability to make an impact on Cancer Services locally. “I have some exciting plans for the coming years and will do my best to keep this great charity growing. It is a huge honour to be part of such an incredible team of dedicated staff and volunteers, and we will continue to push the agenda for improved Cancer Services and Research for the benefit of our local community. “Thank you to everyone who supports what we do; we are only here because of you.”
James G reenlees
As James takes up the torch as the new Chair, Rob Marsh, Senior Account Manager at Brown and Brown Insurance, has been voted in as our Vice-Chair of Trustees. Rob has been an enthusiastic and committed supporter of our work since 2014 and a serving Trustee since 2019. Amongst other things, his original company, Marsh & Co. Independent Insurance Brokers have sponsored many of HOPE’s lunch events that are such an integral part of the Hope Business Club. Upon his appointment to the Vice-Chair’s role, Rob said, “it’s an absolute privilege to be taking up the role of Vice Chair. My over 10-year involvement with the Charity has always been to try and make a difference in the local community.
Rob Marsh
“I look forward to working with the new Chair and the great HOPE team, with an exciting future ahead.”
