Welcome to our first Hope Against Cancer Business Club newsletter of 2024. We would like to start by thanking all of our dedicated Business Club members and corporate partners for helping us to continue to fund the discovery of new, life-enhancing cancer treatments. With your help, we have been able to support a second HOPE nurse at the Hope Cancer Trials Centre at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
These vital roles add to the great care and support that people with cancer and their families receive whilst undergoing trials on potential new drugs and therapies. Thank you all for being key partners in helping us to fight cancer right here, right now in our city, our counties and beyond.

Business Club Lunch Speakers: 18th April 2024 The Spring Business Club lunch speakers are Hope’s very own Office Manager Barbara North who will be reflecting on her personal journey and her experiences of a nineteen year adventure with the charity, and Dr Tim Rattay – Consultant Breast Surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester and Associate Professor in the Leicester Cancer Research Centre. Dr Rattay’s work focuses on the development of personalised breast cancer treatment and uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to approach real world data. AI analysis has the potential to revolutionise individual care through an understanding of how different people will respond to different treatment, and the risks involved. With such precision tools at researcher’s disposal the era of “one size fits all” treatment for cancer could be limited…
