More vital cancer research projects funded by Hope!
Thanks to our supporters Five projects have been identified to divide a £50,000 funding release. The money will provide specialist research equipment and resources.
1
Development of a liquid biopsy approach to early detection of head and neck cancers 2 Evaluation of drug effectiveness in breast cancers 3 Advancement of drugs for mesothelioma prevention to clinical trials stage 4 Identification of difunctional cells in patients with lymphoma 5 Therapeutic screening of patients with colorectal cancers
Working with our doctors, professors and researchers, we identified these projects as having potential to lead to new developments in cancer drug therapies, in line with our goal to improve treatment and outcomes for patients.

Help us raise the funds for a second Hope Cancer Trials Centre nurse! The size and capacity of the Hope Cancer Trails Centre has doubled, so an additional nurse is needed! The new nurse will help cover the different consultant clinics where new patients are introduced both to the Hope Centre and to the concept of taking part in clinical trials, as well as helping with more patient engagement, especially in the under-served groups in our different communities. Hope is committed to providing the £40,000 necessary, and we know that our wonderful supporters will answer the call in all manner of efforts, large and small!
Your support and input is vital
RIP Dame Deborah James At Hope, we’re tremendously saddened by Dame Deborah’s passing – but, doing what we do, we recognize fully the positives of how she used her illness to do so much lasting good for others by bringing bowel cancer into public discussion. We know from experience that public awareness is the essence of progress towards fighting and, ultimately eliminating, all forms of cancer. Awareness primes funding, funding fuels research, research leads to prolonged and better lives for sufferers. We know from over twenty years of involvement that so many cancer sufferers show the same resilience and amazing ‘inner light’ that the whole nation has seen in Dame Deborah. Our own founder was one such person, and this is what motivates us to do what we have been doing - with considerable success - for all this time for the people of Leicestershire and Rutland, through funding research projects with Leicester University and Leicester Hospitals and funding our ‘Hope Cancer Trials Centre’. So our attitude to Dame Deborah’s passing is very much to celebrate her, and to appreciate what her legacy will do for so many others.
