THE MIDHURST SOCIETY IS FOR EVERYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF MIDHURST AND THE SURROUNDING VILLAGES.
The first recording of the town of Midhurst was in the twelfth century but there is evidence of human activity dating back to prehistoric times, including the Bronze Age barrows that are visible on several nearby common areas.
The Midhurst Society aims to keep our history alive and bring it to the attention of residents and visitors through research, talks, exhibitions and publications.

FEEDBACK ON THE MAGAZINE....
“I have now received the Midhurst Society yearly magazine. I’m incredibly impressed with it. I had not appreciated just how much work, and detail there would be. I’m looking forward to sitting down this evening and reading through it.”
LISA GISBOURNE
“… well researched and presented articles. While I have yet to read the rest of the magazine, a look at the contents page is enough to indicate that will be a rewarding pleasure over the next few days. This has also encouraged me to rejoin the Midhurst Society after an absence of several years.”
“I got back from London late last night however the magazine was waiting for me on my desk.
I haven’t had the chance to do more than flick through but what a triumph – it looks great. Really engaging and looking forward to getting stuck in.
What a transformation!”
JONATHAN RUSSELL Chief Executive, Cowdray Estate
“Mike and I would like to say how much we are enjoying reading the latest magazine. We are loving the varied subjects. Every article is very readable and the whole thing seems very professionally put together. It must have taken many, many hours of work for you all which is really appreciated.”
