Internet Safety They connect to it. They download from it. They watch on it. They listen to it. They play on it. They surf on it. They converse with it. Do you know how to monitor it? It can be hard to keep up when today’s inventions are tomorrow’s antiques, but we want our kids to be safe online, and with the amount of time kids spend online, it’s crucial that you do what you can to keep them safe.
Say It With Flowers
Choose flowers and greens for your bridal bouquet that have special meaning. Did you know... • Ivy stands for fidelity, friendship and marriage • Violets stand for modesty and hope • Zinnias bring thoughts of absent friends • Jasmine smells like happiness • Tulips spin enchantment • Aster says love and daintiness • Daisies spell loyal love, purity and innocence For Infor mat ion on Adver t ising in Fami ly & Kids (435) 680-1756

I think the key to a great Valentine’s Day is not the money spent, but the time invested in showing love to each person in a family. This year my family and I will celebrate Valentine’s Day by saying “I love you” in as many fun and memorable ways as possible to all the people we love and who love us. Wishing you and your family a month of love, peace and happiness!

{Heart Shaped Cupcakes} 1 2
.Make cake batter as per recipe on cake box. .To make the heart shape, place a small marble or a 1/2-inch ball of aluminum foil between each liner and one side of the tin (a great job for kids). This will push the paper into the batter to form the notch in the heart. .Pour into the prepared pans and bake according to the times listed on the box, but check for doneness a few minutes early or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool, then remove the marbles or foil balls. .Frost and enjoy!!!

Choose a better EXIT strategy There are more than 100 million EXIT signs in use throughout the U.S. Typically lit by incandescent bulbs, these signs consume
30-35 billion kWh hours of energy each year. Make a better choice. Remember, saving energy prevents pollution.
February is National Children's Dental Health Month National Children’s Dental Health Month is meant to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Why is this type of celebration—and year-round attention to children’s dental health important? Despite the fact that it’s almost entirely preventable, tooth decay is the most common chronic disease in children. More than 40 percent of children ages 2 to 11 have had a cavity in their primary (baby) teeth, and more than two-thirds of 16- to 19-year-olds have had a cavity in their permanent teeth. Although overall rates of tooth decay have decreased over the past four decades, decay has actually increased in preschool age children in recent years. The good news is there are safe and effective preventive measures that can protect teeth. Good oral hygiene practices such as thorough brushing with a fluoride toothpaste can help keep children from getting cavities. In addition, dental sealants and community water fluoridation are two other strategies that can help prevent tooth decay.

How Clean are your carpets?

It’s easy to think that the only reason you need your carpet clean is so it looks nice, right? That is certainly one reason to schedule regular carpet cleaning; however, it’s important to remember that carpet cleaning is also an investment in your health. Carpets can quickly collect dirt, bacteria, dust mites and allergens. Though not always visible on the surface, these contaminants can actually pollute the air quality that you breathe every day. Carpets that often appear clean may be much dirtier than you think! Think of your carpet as a type of air filter in your home. When things like dust, dirt, bacteria and dust mites collect on your carpet, in time you will start to breathe in that buildup. Merely using household carpet cleaners to remove dirt and spills is not enough to ensure the air you’re breathing is as clean as possible.

Dixie Regional Medical Center Welcomes the New Year 2014 Baby! Milo James Satterfield is Dixie Regional Medical Center’s Baby New Year 2014. “He’s a big, healthy boy,” said his father, T.J. “We’re very grateful he and his mother, Crystal, are doing so well.” T.J. and Crystal Satterfield reside in Veyo with Milo’s new big brother, Maximus. Cares Let there be light
Changing the world starts with simple actions. Like changing a light bulb. Energy efficient bulbs can save as much 75% in energy costs while still providing bright, healthy light for your customers and employees. Replace the most used fixtures first, then everywhere else as bulbs burn out. Buy in bulk and take advantage of big savings there, too.
Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, CFLs, use about 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. Your company will save about $30 or more in electricity costs over each bulb’s lifetime. And because they produce considerably less heat, they can cut cooling costs, too. It doens’t take much to make a change like this. Show you care!

Moving?
Call utility companies. Fill out change-of-address forms. Unpack. Continue unpacking… There’s lots to do after a move, but don’t neglect to send out moving announcements to friends and family. To account for possible delays, fill out and address your moving announcements early, but don’t mail them until you’re moved in.

Give kids the brush! The toothbrush, that is. Since baby teeth eventually fall out to be replaced by new teeth, many parents wait until then to begin training in oral hygiene. It’s a general assumption that oral hygiene is not an issue for younger children. Not true. The American Dental Association (ADA) says that cavities in baby teeth can cause a number of problems in addition to early tooth loss. The effects might
include ear and speech problems, crooked permanent teeth, severe pain, poor self-image, and tooth decay. The ADA even recommends starting children’s dental care when they are still babies! They say a dentist’s visit should occur in the first year and brushing should begin at age two and be supervised until a child is six or seven.

The Kite Festival was started to provide a wholesome, uplifting, family-oriented event and to promote reading as a fundamental basis of education for every child of elementary school age. A child who reads has a tremendous advantage over a child who doesn't read. Children who read have a better understanding of grammar and spelling, as well as sentence structure. It is the responsibility of parents to first read to their children. Secondly, they should encourage their children to spend a certain amount of time reading daily. Parents should also read alongside children to model good reading habits. Admission to the Kite Festival is free. Concessions and additional activities are available at nominal charges. Plan ahead and bring cash. This is a great family event and is one that you don't want to miss! For more information go to www.DixiePowerKiteFestival.com

Use Technology
In the day of the smartphone, webcams and computers, there is no reason why you can't learn to text, video message or email your spouse every now and then. It doesn't have to be long or sappy; just send a quick message to say you're thinking about him, or to wish him luck in his presentation. You probably don't have time for much else .
when your spouse is touched enough by this selfless act of yours to insist that you watch what you want. (If you don't think this is romantic, then consider it a tip on how to use reverse psychology.)
Break a Sweat
Exercising together can be just as romantic as Candlelight dinners, and even offers more opportunity to get closer! Encouraging each other to "keep going" or "do just one more" shows that the special bond that brought you together is still there. Take a walk, hike or bike, or try a free class at your local gym and reminisce about how great you both once looked or how great you look now.

Romance, creativity and efficiency rolled up into one! If the first item on the list includes painting the wall in the dining room, then make a trail that leads to the paint brush. After that, it's time to wash the car, so recreate a path to the soap and water bucket that lays waiting. At each interval, make it a point to stop at a destination near you for a peck on the cheek, a big hug or a hot cup of coffee served just how he likes it.
Enough said. Real parents appreciate the neighborhood teenagers who can drop by every now and then to give them one precious hour of uninterrupted conversation.
order in
Sure it's not a novel idea, but frugal, budget-conscious families across the country are hitting the video racks and ordering up takeout instead of blowing four times as much on an expensive dinner in a fancy restaurant. The time spent together enjoying each other in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to reserve the extravagant nights for extra-special occasions.
Hand Over the remote
While this may not seem romantic on the outside, the gesture of allowing your spouse that opportunity to choose what he wants to watch on TV has "love" written all over it. You may even be surprised

Dealing with Heartburn
If you’re like thousands of other Americans, you may experience heartburn now and again. HOO’s hoping you can have your cake and it too, if you consider these tips. • Figure out which foods trigger your heartburn. Keep a log. Common heartburn generating foods are tomatoes, chocolate, sugar, caffeine, citrus fruits, spicy foods
Then simply cut with some sharppointed scissors or exacto knife, a slit at the top and bottom of their hand and slid the sucker in. Use a piece of scotch tape on the back to make sure the sucker doesn't fall out. and alcohol. Either avoid your trigger foods altogether or eat only small portions. • Eat smaller meals. Your system will thank you for not overloading it. • Don’t eat too late. It’s a major cause of heartburn. • See your doctor if heartburn persists.

Happy cows, happy milk Milk is heated, or pasteurized, to destroy bacteria, mold and yeast. But dairy farmers claim that demand for raw, unpasteurized milk is astronomical. Raw
milk is healthier, they say, because pasteurization destroys vital nutrients and enzymes. Raw milk demand is up four-fold in two years despite being at odds with public health agencies.
