Headlines By James Saunders
When I first arrived at the school I was unsure what exactly week 37 was all about. I am pleased to say that I now have a good understanding of what this wonderful opportunity offers our learners and I have been inspired by the growth our learners have made; I am sure you too have been following the exploits of each cohort on our Facebook page. For me, week 37 represents an opportunity to develop relationships, resilience, entrepreneurship and confidence; skills that will help our learners as they enter the wide world post-Honywood. This week I have had the pleasure of personally experiencing some of what week 37 has to offer. In year 8, learners have been in school working on a range of entrepreneurial projects: I enjoyed helping out the car wash team in the midday heat; I commissioned my own Jackson Pollock painting from our resident artists; I enjoyed lunch served and prepared by our own pop-up restaurant run entirely by learners who also survived a real life inspection from an Environmental Health Officer, and our painting and decorating group did a fantastic job of refurbing our Maths rooms.
It has been all about character building this week. I am looking forward to seeing the personal growth in all our learners as we enter our final three weeks of the term. Congratulations To Maya Robson 9KCo and Hannah Byrne 9KBr who took part in this week’s CV competition. They are Honywood’s two ‘Most Employable’ C9’s. To: Ellie Tames 9JWi who has just won a Gold for England at the Dance World Cup in Spain. Well done Ellie on this fantastic achievement.
Year 7 have been based in Danbury all week. I had the pleasure of visiting them on Tuesday to hear about the fun they had canoeing, cycling, climbing and caving; I even managed to serve a few of them dinner at the end of the day. Year 10 have been in Portsmouth all week and, like you, I have had to use Facebook to keep abreast of what has been happening; it is just that little bit too far to pop and visit at the end of the school day. Finally, our year 9 learners have taken part in a series of activities and apirational visits. These include Canterbury, Essex and Cambridge universities as well as Cambridge United football club. Whilst I did not get to go on any of these trips one of their coach drivers contacted me to tell me how impressed he was with them - ‘real assets to the school’.

Feel Good Fair Sunday 23rd June 2018 the Feel Good Fair Family Funday came to the Main Hall. Despite many other events taking place locally, the Fair was really busy and I would like to thank all of you who took the time out to attend. We had attractions for the children to enjoy as well as a number of incredible local businesses showcasing family themed ideas. If you haven't been yet, keep an eye out for our future dates. Everyone who comes speaks so fondly of the event. It's a great day out with plenty of food and entertainment to keep everyone happy. Schools desperately need the support of families to help with fundraising events such as this and in addition, the children also benefit when families are involved in school life. Ultimately, it's the children who gain so much from us all coming together as a community. Sports Day Sports Day was held on 22nd June 2018. Congratula ons to all the Learners who took part in a fantas c a ernoon of finals. During the morning a large number of learners came out onto the field to compete in the field events and to earn points for their Learning Groups. As is tradi on the whole school made their way out to the field a er lunch to watch the finals of the track events. The results have been finalised and we have seen some very compe ve Cohorts with extremely close results, these results will be given out during your designated assembly me. The PE department and all of the sta would like to congratulate all of the Learners who were involved in Sports Day

Design Technology Technician (39 weeks, up to 25 hours per week £8,671 - £9,209 p.a.)
We require an exceptional person who can join us to work closely with learners and teachers within our Technology Team preparing materials, maintaining equipment and supporting young people in their learning. We offer:
Annual Salary £13,131 - £15,325 actual salary Term time + non pupil days + two weeks in the holidays (to include one week covering the August exam results period) (41 weeks) 30 hours per week We are seeking to appoint a highly organised and motivated individual to join our administration team as a Data and Administration Assistant. Your primary responsibilities will be to undertake all administration relating to learner progress reviews and reports and to assist the Assistant Headteacher with the production of statistical returns and reports. In addition to this the successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Office Managers. We offer:

My Learning Choices Enterprise & Solutions MLCs this week are available to C7 learners that would like any help structuring or conducting their investigation into internationally successful entrepreneurs. Sessions will also be available for C8s that would like to help improving their Business Board Games, so that they can build in as much business knowledge in to their designs as possible.

Business Studies MLCs this week will be focused on helping C9s revise the C9 Assessment Week. This could include going over aspects of the ‘Marketing’, ‘Influences on a Business’ and/or ‘Human Resources’ units, or developing the structure of answers to 4, 6 and 9 mark questions. Sessions will also be available for c10s who would like help preparing for their final practice paper of the year, which they’ll be sitting in week 40. English Please spend some time reviewing your most recent learning points in English. What is it you need to do to improve? Do you know how to move forward with your learning? We have many members of the English team available for you to book an MLC appointment with. Your 1:1 or small group MLC session could be focused on improving an aspect of your writing or tackling a particular question on the GCSE language papers. It might be that you’re finding poetry tricky or the study of a particular text is causing you concern. Whatever it is, don’t hesitate to book an MLC today. MFL “Open to all cohorts.
