I would like to personally invite you to join us Wednesday, November 12th, 2025 at 5 PM MST. If you are not able to attend in person, we will be broadcasting the sale on DV Auction. The sale location is 30 minutes west of Laramie, Wyoming. This year’s sale offering includes 17 coming 2-year-old bulls, 53 commercial bred heifers. At the conclusion of the sale, we are excited to offer two donation heifer calves to all the kids in attendance between the ages of 7–17. Our elevation here is 7,398 ft. The bulls have all been PAP tested at weaning, and again at 18 months of age by our good friend Dr. Tim Holt. The bulls and heifers have been grown out on native grass hay and dry land short grass. They are not fat, they are hard muscled. Our
number 1 goal is to produce cattle that hold up in elevation. These cattle have gone through droughts and extreme cold temperatures. They are hardy and not pampered. This has been a good set of cattle. We stand behind each and every animal in the sale. If you have any issues, let us know and we will make it right.
This summer Elias Bacon and his fiancée Hanna joined us here at the McGill Ranch. I’d like to thank you both for the long hours of work, friendship, and dedication. I’d also like to thank Joan McGill for letting us carry on the day-to-day operations and letting us raise our families on this beautiful ranch. We love you, and we miss you. As many of you know, Mike McGill passed away back in February. He had been fighting some health issues and held on as long as he could. We hope he is in a better place now. Mike would not have wanted anyone to mourn his passing. He was a very modest person. Mike was a very blessed person and lived a very fulfilling life. He spoke very fondly of his parents, and he and his sister Joann were lucky enough to grow up on this ranch and live their entire lives in this community.
Mike was not very tall in stature, and he had a severe stutter as a child. He worked hard to overcome his stutter to the best of his ability and often worked jobs in his youth to gain strength, such as loading ice blocks on railroad cars. He was fortunate enough to attend The University of Wyoming where he was lucky enough to be on some stellar football teams. In college he met his good friend Dale (Stud) Madden. He and Stud went on to be best friends for almost 60+ years. After college he was able to acquire the home ranch from his parents. There was a lot of lean and tough years returning to the ranch, but with some grit and hard work he was able to build his cow herd and acquire some land. Mike grew up with Hereford cows. One year he sold on a sale where they judged the calves first and then sold. He won the show, but the black calves outsold his Hereford calves. He knew from that day on he would only purchase black bulls.
To me, Mike was the Dale Earnhardt of bull sales, he was The Intimidator. If he liked a bull, he was probably going to own him. Mike helped a lot of young people start cow herds, or let them put up hay on shares, or gave them ranch jobs until they were able to move on to bigger and better opportunities. He was a big fan of UW sports and donating a steer a year to the college to help with scholarships. Mike and Joan married in 2002. They had many good years together on the ranch. Together they were able to build a pretty good life for themselves.
I could probably write a book about all the things Mike did in his lifetime. He was one of a kind, it was a honor to work for him, he will be missed.

Sale Directions
From Laramie, take I-80 west 12 miles to Exit 297 (Herrick Lane).
Turn left and head west on Herrick Lane 4 miles to Mandel Lane.
There’s a brown tool shed at the corner of Mendel Lane.
Turn left and head south 2.5 miles to the sale location.
Look for the big green indoor arena on the right-hand side.

Trucking
Free trucking in Wyoming and surrounding states (bulls only). Buyers are responsible for trucking on all females. Load out will start at the conclusion of the sale. We would like to deliver bulls as soon as possible.
Guarantee
All bulls are guaranteed regardless of price for the first breeding season. The breeding season is defined as a 90-day period following turnout of the bulls. Buyers will receive credit minus the salvage value. Please notify Todd Hummel as soon as possible in the case of injury. Neglect, misuse, or malnutrition will not be credited.
Retained Interest
All lots sell with full possession. No interest retained.

Every spring, we synchronize the McGill replacement heifers. We do one round of AI breeding, then turn them out with clean-up bulls for 60 days. The AI-bred heifers are kept, and the bull-bred are sold. Needless to say, these females are straight out of our replacement pen.
The clean-up bulls are all 40 PAP or lower. They are all calving ease Angus bulls. These are the same bulls that we AI to. They are sired by Poss Deadwood, Pine View Red State, EB Rural, HF Safe N Sound.
These females have had a complete modified live calfhood vaccination program. They are all bangs vaccinated. Prior to the sale, we will give these heifers a first round of Guardian shots and back pour with Ivermectin and Clean-Up II.
These females have been on a complete salt/mineral program. They run at 7,389 feet elevation year-round. They carry a kite brand on their left rib and are all home-raised.
We ask that you purchase a minimum of 5 head — or take as many as you please.
