Welcome to the Diamond J Angus annual bull sale. We would like to thank you for your interest and support for the last 17 years. We aim to provide outcross genetics that can adapt and thrive in our North Dakota environment. This is by far our most consistent and best group to date.
We are offering a set of two year old bulls this year since we are seeing an increase in customer requests for this group. These bulls are being managed together with our own 2 year old herd bulls.
Viewing of the cattle are welcome anytime at the ranch and the bulls will be transported to Kists Livestock the Saturday before sale day and can be viewed there anytime up to sale time.
Our herd health is managed by Dr. Andrea Rusch of Bluegrass Veterinary Services of New Salem, ND with a full vaccination schedule and mineral program followed yearly on the whole herd and calves from birth to delivery day. Dr. Rusch will be performing the breeding soundness exams at the end of April before delivery. If you need your bull earlier please inform us and we will make arrangements to suite your schedule.
Ranch visits and customer input are always welcome and our driving force for future direction. Your success is our priority. Period. We sell as many feeder calves as we do seedstock so being in tune with the commercial cattleman is actually being in tune with ourselves. If these genetics don’t work for us they surely wont work for you so we study our next steps long before any breeding ever happens. Our herd bulls are put under the same criteria we use to choose AI sires. That group of 50 bulls is managed together over the winter and it will be a difficult task to find another herd in the country with the quality and performance put into a large group of clean up sires. The words adapt and easy to breed to are stressed in our program. If the cattle cant do these two things consistently they don’t last long here.

Cattle Viewing: Videos of the sale cattle can be viewed online at www.DVAuction.com. Cattle are available for inspection at any time at Diamond J Angus Ranch.
First Breeding Season Guarantee: Bulls selling are guaranteed for 90 days from turnout against breeding injury. If a replacement is available, he will be provided or if the buyer prefers, credit towards another bull will be given in next year’s sales. Credit for the amount of purchase minus $3,000 will be applied towards the purchase of another bull. The buyer keeps all salvage value. Please notify us as soon as possible should an injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. This is not a mortality insurance policy, nor does it cover mismanagement or neglect. We do not cover injuries sustained prior to breeding season.

His dam died when he was just two months old, so he got thrown in with a group of pairs and figured out how to thrive or how to die. Well, he certainly thrived. He’s long, he’s deep and he’s wide - a phenotype like his sire, Congress. His dam’s sire, T205, displays a WWR of 45@105 and one of those progeny is the Top Cut 1099 bull with sons in this sale and past sale highlights. His dam was also a phenotype stand out with performance, carcass and $values at the top of the breed. Summit boasts a WWR of 102 and was used back on Martin’s herd and raised son, Muscle Builder, and grandson, Longfellow, that he used heavily for natural breeding selling sons and daughters to several commercial herds. They are definitely the North Dakota kind that adapt and are easy fleshing, along with phenotype that the Angus breed is known for worldwide.

Mission & Commitment Statement
At Diamond J Angus, we are on a mission to help our customers do more, with less. With a focus on ranchers’ profitability and producing high-quality beef, we focus on three things — PERFORMANCE, QUALITY, EFFICIENCY.
Anyone can feed performance and a certain level of quality into cattle, but are we being efficient? The word “efficient” is what’s left in our pockets at the end of the season, and it all starts with great cows.
To us, a great cow breeds on time every year, holds her condition, and raises a profitable calf on the cheapest ration we can come up with. Our cows are fed corn silage, straw, liquid feed, and 4-5 lbs. of mineral and corn during the coldest parts of winter, through calving, and turnout time.
Our cows are true “show” cattle. They must “show” us why they should stay in the herd. We push our cows to do more on less. If they can’t keep up, they are culled and sent to market. Genetics and ability to adapt are the keys to great cows. We are consistently looking for better performance, better quality, and better efficiency in our females. We don’t label our cows “maternal” or “terminal.” They are either in or out.
With an eye on the end goal of raising cattle that will ultimately end up as steaks on the dinner plate, we use tools provided to us in the forms of EPDs, and DNA. Nothing is 100%, but these tools certainly point us in the right direction, and once we dial in on the best genetics, we can advance them farther and faster in our program with AI and embryo transplant.
With a progressive approach to our program, we have enlisted the help of Chris Earl, of CK6 Consulting, CK6 Source, and Reverse Rocking R Ranch. Chris has a down-to-earth approach, with like-minded goals, and a similar approach to the cattle business as we have. He is a leader that sees the big picture, not just sale reports. He travels the country and sees cattle from all environments and practices possible. His experience and guidance is another tool we use to be more more progressive. We always say he is our “eyes” out in the country, helping us identify great herd sires and identify bulls we can use after our cows are given one shot at AI.
At Diamond J Angus, we place intense selection pressure on our seedstock program, retaining 30% for bulls, and the rest are marketed as feeders. We are in the same marketing position as every commercial cattlemen is, and it drives us to create value for you in our breeding program. We are proud to say our feeder calves top their weight classes in dollars year-after-year, and it is our hope that our genetics can do the same for you. We are dedicated to an approach of helping all in the cattle business to become better at what we all strive to do — raise quality beef.
