As we write this letter, we are at the National Western Stock Show where we are experiencing plenty of sunshine and balmy temperatures, unlike the past couple of years. Many of the western states are really needing moisture so hopefully mother nature will provide. Calving is in full swing at home and we are also hearing reports of mild weather this week at the ranch.
What an exciting time it is to be in the cattle business. Just when we think the market has peaked, another record setting feeder sale is posted. With the continued low inventory and high consumer demand we should experience this well deserved market for years to come.
This year’s offering includes 85 long yearling bulls and 65 yearling bulls. They have been fertility, PAP and BVD tested as well as Angus GS tested. As you study this catalog you will see many calving ease bulls along with powerful cow bulls. We are also offering 12 fancy registered heifers from the heart of our herd. Superior Angus genetics remain in high demand and you will find the quality runs deep throughout this offering.

INSPECTION Cattle may be inspected at Hansen Feedlot, Hwy 91 N (just past mile marker 6 on west side of Hwy) any time prior to the sale. They will be available for viewing at the sale site beginning Sunday, February 22, 2026.

All bulls selling for $3,500 or more will be covered by Circle L Angus if they are injured during their first breeding season.This guarantee does not include death as that can be insured for. Breeding season is defined as a 60-day period following the first turnout of bulls. Fifty percent of the value of the injured bull, minus one-half the salvage value, will be given credit in a future Circle L Angus sale or towards a replacement bull if one is available. Salvage value, if any, will be split equally between Circle L Angus and the buyer. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. We also reserve the right to a second opinion by a veterinarian of our choice. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 1, 2026.
FERTILITY Megan Igo, DVM and Claire Reyes, DVM at Southwest Montana Vet Clinic performed a breeding soundness exam, semen test, scrotal measurement and BVD test on all bulls.
HERD HEALTH
All bulls and heifers were vaccinated with Bovi-Shield Gold One Shot, 7-way with Somubac, wart vaccine, Fusoguard plus booster, Valbazen and Pour On.
PAP TEST Circle L Angus bulls were PAP tested at 5750 feet at the ranch by Britt Stubblefield, DVM, Rocky Top Veterinary Service (970-331-8955) and Lanny Weddle DVM, North Park Veterinary Clinic (970-723-8314). The PAP scores are in this catalog. For more information or recommended scores specific to your operation, contact us or the veterinary clinic.
RETAINED INTEREST Circle L Angus is retaining one-third revenue sharing semen interest in any bull sold in this sale. Full possession and full salvage value sells on all bulls.

American Angus Association $Value Indexes
Dollar value indexes, or $Values, are a tool used to select for several traits at once based on a specific breeding objective. An economic index approach takes into account genetic and economic values as well as the relationships between traits to select for profit.
Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), an index expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning. $M is built off of a self-replacing herd model where commercial cattlemen replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% in subsequent generations. Remaining cull females and all male progeny are sold as feeder calves. Increased selection pressure on $M aims to decrease overall mature cow size and improve foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production.
Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning. $W assumes that producers retain 20% of their female progeny for replacements and sell the rest of their cull female and male progeny as feeder calves. Over time, increased selection pressure on $W will increase weaning and maternal milk traits while also continuing to increase mature cow size.
Feedlot Value ($F), an index expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. The underlying objective assumes commercial producers will retain ownership of cattle through the feedlot phase and sell fed cattle on a carcass weight basis with no considerations of premiums or discounts for quality and yield grade.
Grid Value ($G), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit, including quality and yield grade attributes, compared to progeny of other sires.
Beef Value ($B), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, facilitates simultaneous multi-trait genetic selection for feedlot and carcass merit. $B represents the expected average differences in the progeny postweaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot phase and market these animals on a quality-based carcass grid.
Combined Value ($C), an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and eventually sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.

For 41 YEARS, the Bobcats 1984 National Champion Football Team has tended the flame. We are honored to pass the torch to the reigning champs - the 2025 team!
Cory played running back for the Cats and was a Sophomore on the 1984 National Championship team. His football career ended his senior year when he fractured his ankle in practice. He was a member of the Bobcats roster from ‘83-’86.
Cory Lamey grew up on his famiy’s registered Hereford ranch in Eureka, MT. He excelled in football with the Eureka Lions. As a senior Cory was offered a full ride scholarship to Montana State University.

Montana is the 41st state admitted to the Union in 1889.
Bobcat football’s heritage of pride runs deep. Former coaches, Kramer, Choate and President Cruzado all take steps to honor the legacy of the war era especially the 1941 team. In 2018 jersey number 41 is established as a legacy jersey.
In 2025 the Bobcats earn their spot in the FCS National Championship title game. Their 3rd appearance in 5 years. They win the game by 1 point in overtime. Poetically, It has been 41 years since the Bobcats last held the National Champion title.
Tireless work, finding joy amongst heartbreak, sacrifice and always, unwaivering faith. The 2025 Bobcat Football Team embodies the legacy of jersey 41.
In 1893 Montana State University is established as a land-grant institution. WW1 & WW2 had a profound impact on the university. The school lost 22 out of approximately 350 students from its 1917 enrollment in WW1. Montana State also suffered devastating losses during WWII. Among those who died in the war were 14 men who played on the Bobcat football teams between 1935 and 1941.
