A nationwide home goods retailer was preparing for a portfolio restructuring and reached out to Honigman for assistance in reviewing and abstracting key lease information from 270 store locations in four days.
Lead matter attorney, Karen Pifer and lead supervising attorney, Rita Feikema, utilized our Legal Project Management (LPM) team to successfully scale, organize and manage the matter. We right-source our work to the appropriate individuals to ensure cost efficiencies through the use of our tailored staffing resources, including our industry leading due diligence center, Honigman Review Solutions (HRS) and our cross-practice Interdepartmental Attorneys (IDAs). The combination of these resources allows us to develop bespoke legal services tailored to individual staffing and budgetary needs.
For this project, a variety of reviewers were staffed on the matter – real estate associates, staff attorneys, and paralegals, as well as all HRS attorneys and IDAs, for a total of 24 reviewers. Our tailored staffing offering allowed the Real Estate team to quickly scale to meet client demands. In addition, a team of four partners led by Rita Feikema served as a QC team and one LPM served as operations lead.

The lead Legal Project Manager (LPM) managed the operational aspects of the review, including workflow planning, documentation, technology and process training and tracking progress against the client’s tight deadline. The LPM was responsible for providing detailed progress and fee updates and proactively communicating with the client and the Honigman team throughout the entire lifecycle of the project to ensure a successful outcome and smooth delivery.

The review process was accelerated through the use of Honigman’s cutting edge technology tool, KIRA. KIRA’s AI analytics capabilities enhanced the review process by quickly identifying key terms for review, improving efficiency and ensuring accuracy throughout the project. The tool also provided up-tothe-minute progress reporting across the entire review team and corpus of relevant documents, allowing matter leadership and reviewers to stay aligned on progress and interim findings.
