Council set to decide fate of alley behind Main by brett adkison leader editor
After meetings by both the Plattsburg City Council and the municipal zoning board on Monday, November 22, the city
appears close to deciding on the alleyway between Broadway and Locust, just west of Main Street. The council directed city staff to draw up an ordinance that would dis-
allow most private traffic from using the alley, with exceptions for emergency vehicles, delivery vehicles and certain service vehicles. An eight mile-perhour speed limit would
be enforced and signage would be installed. Violators could face a steep fine for breaking either regulation. Nearby business owners would be able to shut down the alley for events

During its November monthly meeting, the Gower City Council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to apply for transportation grant funding. This is the first step to-
ward seeking engineering services to apply for the funds. The council also discussed the interest rates it receives on investments and received a bid of 3.75 percent from First Options Bank. Desiring to keep its investments local, the council decided ||Continued on A2
While most public entities have been bracing for a wave of health care increases at the end of 2022 and into the new year, the City of Lathrop appears to have dodged that fate. The Lathrop City Council voted approve an option through their broker with United Healthcare on Tuesday, November 15, which includes a drop in both out of pocket expense and deductibles, according to City Administrator Bob Burns. The overall cost of the plan went up just three-and-a-half percent. Also during the meeting, Gary Brown spoke to the council about a possible memorial for the late Richard Williams at the pedestrian bridge on South Street. Williams, a Lathrop graduate and a dedicated supporter of LHS athletics, used the bridge to access the city’s sidewalk system from his home at the senior apartments south of the old football field.
