GRM Networks Hosts Fiber Field Day GRM Networks hosted Fiber Field Day on Thursday, August 31. It sstarted at Mt. Moriah and ended in Princeton. This event brought together policy makers and industry partners to see firsthand broadband deployment in rural America through a working demonstration followed by lunch and a town hall meeting. The town hall
brought together subject matter experts to discuss and address the importance of high-speed internet in rural America and the impact of GRM Networks’ fiber for telehealth, distance learning, business development and precision agriculture. Celebrity Softball Game
The Celebrity Softball Game will be held Saturday, September 9 at 6 p.m. at Griffin Field in the Ebbe Sports Complex at Trenton High School. Individuals with special needs in our community will be playing against the celebrities of the community. A concession stand will be open beginning at 5:30 p.m. The National Anthem will be sung by Rita Hanes at 6 p.m. and the first pitch will be thrown by Klaire Quimby and Chris Hodge. The public is encouraged to come out and support the athletes and celebrities.
Lifeline Screenings
Residents living in and around the Trenton area can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. Tenth Street Baptist Church at 1200 E. 10th Street in Trenton will host this community event on September 21, 2023. Rhonda Vincent in Concert
The Dream Factory of Northwest Missouri will present country music and Grand Ole Opry star Rhonda Vincent in concert on Thursday, September 7 at 7 p.m. at the Trenton Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $30 at the door. During intermission of the concert, donated items will be auctioned, including an autographed guitar signed by Rhonda Vincent, Jeannie Seely, The Isaacs, Ricky Skaggs, Connie Smith and others; a $250 certificate for a tree from Rosemary Hill Tree Farm of Trenton; a $100 gift card from Pet Central in Trenton; a dulcimer donated by Norris Polley of Trenton; and a 24x24 oil painting of an old barn and car in color by Laura Profett of Cainsville.
Tractor Trailer Fire Friday
The Trenton Fire Department was called out at 3:40 a.m. on Friday, September 1 to an area near the grain bins at the south end of Nichols Street where they found a tractor trailer owned by HFF, LLC on fire. Lt. Alex Lovell reported that the semi, a 1999 Volvo T642 was fully engulfed, while the trailer, a double hopper bottom grain trailer fully loaded with soy beans, was moderately involved. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire using water and foam. Both the truck and trailer were a complete loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately one hour and were assisted by the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District, Grundy County Ambulance and the Trenton Police Department.
WMH Foundation to Hold Wright Trail Run
The Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation in Trenton has announced plans for the first ever Wright Trail Run. The Wright Trail Run will replace the Wright Run 5/10k, which was last held in 2019. This new fundraising event for the Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation will be held on Saturday, October 7, at Crowder State Park, just outside the city limits of Trenton. Participants will meet for registration and official send-off at the lake parking lot located on the east side of Crowder Lake. Participants will have two options: a trail run on the Tall Oaks Trail, and a fun run/walk around the lake.
The entry fee of $35 will include an official Wright Trail Run t-shirt and race bib. Wright Trail Run tshirts will also be available for purchase at the event. Team registrations will have an entry fee of $120 and include four participants. Those who register on or before September 20 will be able to select their t-shirt size. Registrants after September 20 will choose their t-shirt size on the day of the event, subject to size availability. Registration is available [See WMH, Page 2]
