NCMC Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Induction Class North Central Missouri College athletics inducted four new members to the NCMC Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 14th. Inductees were honored in a ceremony between the women’s and men’s basketball games against Southeast Community College. A reception was set to be held so celebrate the inductees at Riverside Country Club following the games. Chris Green: NCMC Baseball Player 2008-2009 Green pitched his sophomore year for the Pirates after transferring from Missouri Southern State University. In the spring of 2009, Green appeared in 19 games for the Pirates while leading the team in wins (4), innings pitched (79.0) and strikeouts (84). He then transferred to Northwest Missouri State University where he was a key piece of their pitching staff. As a Bearcat, he compiled a record of 11-8 with 74 strikeouts in two seasons. He held a 5.01 ERA over 129.1 innings pitched. Matt Johnson, Green’s summer ball coach while at the St. Joseph Mustangs of the MINK League, commented that he was one of the hardest working players he ever coached. Collegiate and summer success led to a free agent signing with the Baltimore Orioles organization for Green. He pitched the end of the 2012 season in the Gulf Coast League with a record of 1-0 in 3 appearances. He posted a stellar 10 strikeouts over 5 innings pitched that season for the GCL Orioles. The following year, Green had a pair of appearances for the Sioux Falls Canaries of the independent American Association before retiring due to injury. Head Coach Donnie Hillerman detailed what made Green such a good competitor and teammate while at NCMC. “I have always been impressed by Chris’s athletic ability; he was a very physical player and he had considerable skill. With that said, the thing that most impressed me was his tenacity as a competitor and his mental toughness to overcome difficult situations. He never gave in to adversity or pain. Chris had an injury as a freshman in high school and the issues followed him throughout his career. He had elbow surgery in high school and again while at NWMSU. While pitching at NCMC, his arm health was always a factor. There were days that he was on and he pitched in dominating fashion while there were other days he would grind through and compete with less than his best stuff. He always gave us innings and a chance to win against our toughest opponents.”

Samone Redditt: NCMC Women’s Basketball Player 2012-2014 Redditt was a two-year starter for the Lady Pirates. During her freshman year she averaged 11.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. She was named 2nd Team NJCAA DII All-American in the 2013-14 season for her efforts that put the Lady Pirates into the national tournament for the third time in program history. That season, she averaged 12.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. She was also a 1st Team All-Region XVI selection. Local School Board Meetings Grundy R-V The Grundy R-V school board meeting was held at 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2023. The board heard reports on transportation and construction in the district, but no action was taken. The board reviewed the school calendar for the 2023-24 school year and the matter will be voted on during the February meeting. The board heard a review of candidate Zachariah Kasinger, and new to the board will be Brooke May and Brenda Allnutt. No election will be held. The board approved an umbrella policy from the insurance provider MUSIC for $3,000,000 at a cost of $1,518. The Board reviewed a yearbook proposal from Walsworth Co. and the matter was tabled until the next meeting so the board may gather more information. The cooperative agreement with the Newtown-Harris School District for extracurricular activities for the 2023-24 school year was reviewed but no action was taken. The approval for a three year agreement to purchase monitoring software called BlockSi for $1,020 a year was made. Reports were presented by elementary and secondary principals. After a closed session the board approved the hiring of Sarah Rains as
elementary coach for the boy and girls teams as well as the acceptance of resignation from Bob Shipley, a long time history teacher with 41 years of service to the district. The next regularly scheduled board meeting was set February 16, 2023 in the high school business room at 5:00 p.m. The meeting was then adjourned. Laredo R-VII The Laredo R-VII Board of Education was called to order at 6:06 p.m. Amendment to add the USDA grant was approved. The MUSIC-umbrella policy-$4,000,000 for $860 was approved. A discussion for building improvements was made but no action was taken. Elementary Basketball for boys is 3rd through 6th and for girls the 4th through 6th. The field trip for Spring K-2 Kaleidoscope and 3-8 Jefferson City were approved and the 2022B Policy Updates had its first reading. The candidate filing period for April 4, 2023 has ended. The terms that are up for reelection are Casey Bowe, Sarah Lowrey, and Jason Meeker for three-year terms. A discussion took place in regards to the Safe to In-Person Instruction and continuity of Services Plan (SRCSP) and MSIP6/CSIP updates. The meeting was adjourned. Princeton R-V The Princeton R-V School Board
of Education met January 11th, 2023. The February BOE Meeting is Monday, February 13th, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. The athletic director Scott Ursery updated the board on the newest members of the GRC East. Brookfield and Marceline will join the GRC for the 2024-25 school year. The School Board was presented a proposal from community member Danny Derry. Mr. Derry offered $30,000 for the opportunity to name the baseball field at the new complex after his grandfather Dewey Derry. The board of education was grateful for the presentation from Mr. Derry and had significant discussion on the topic. Mr. Girdner shared that there is a lot to consider in naming rights. Some of the challenges are the two existing fields of Gerald Gentry and Dick Franklin field and if those field names would be moved to the new stadium. There have been recent suggestions about past coaches such as Geogre Scurlock and Dave Niemeyer being honored with field names. Additionally there have been recent donations made that naming rights were not offered or considered. The concern would be if all previous donations should have an opportunity for naming rights and what that donation level should be. Discussion around the Hall of Fame at the concession

The annual meeting of the Main Street Trenton/Trenton Downtown Improvement Association Partners will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 6 p.m. at The Space in downtown Trenton. All Main Street Trenton Partners are invited and encouraged to attend.
Spickard Board of Aldermen holds January Meeting
The Spickard Board of Aldermen met in regular session January 9, at Spickard City Hall. Mayor Alan Tharp called the meeting to order and after minutes and agenda were approved new business was considered. First, the board accepted the resignation of Spickard City Clerk Amy Chapman. Chapman agreed to remain in her position until a new city clerk could be hired and trained. The posi[See School, Page 2] tion will be advertised.
In old business, an election will be held April 24th to determine the Aldermen for three available seats. The financial report and January bills were approved by unanimous vote and the February meeting was set for February 13 at 6 p.m. at Spickard City Hall. The public is invited to attend.
