This season, it’s all about depth and dimension. Layered textures are taking centre stage in home styling, transforming everyday spaces into warm, inviting sanctuaries. From chunky knits and boucle cushions to woven rugs and raw timber accents, mixing materials adds richness and personality to your interiors.
The key? Contrast and balance. Pair soft linens with rugged ceramics, or smooth velvets with natural jute. Whether you’re styling a living room or a bedroom, layering textures creates visual interest and a sense of lived in luxury that feels both intentional and effortless.

Reeling in your eyesight
Reel Optics is a local, family-run optometry practice in Homeworld Helensvale. Some locals may remember them from when they were at Westfield Helensvale. They’ve been part of the community for decades, and have more than 50 years of combined optical experience. They use the latest technology, but focus on making eye care feel personal and approachable. Whether it’s a quick repair or a full eye exam, they just want people to feel comfortable and looked after.
with Reel Optics
Can you walk me through the process of a new patient at Reel Optics?
It’s relaxed and friendly. When someone new comes in, we start with a quick chat to understand what they need. Then we do a full eye test using modern equipment that’s accurate and noninvasive. If they need glasses, we help them find something that suits both their look and their lifestyle. Because we’ve got an on-site lab, we can often have glasses ready the same day, which is a nice surprise for a lot of people. It’s all pretty smooth and there’s no pressure.
What are the most common eye conditions or diseases that you treat in your practice?
We see quite a bit of screen-related eye strain, especially from people who work on computers all day. Dry eye is common too. For older patients, we help monitor and manage things like cataracts and macular degeneration. And with kids, we often check for focusing or tracking issues. The key is catching things early, and that’s something we’re very well-equipped to do.
What is your approach to educating patients about maintaining eye health and preventing vision issues?
We keep things simple and straightforward. People just want to understand what’s going on and what they can do about it. Whether it’s tips for screen time or advice about diet and general eye care, we tailor it to each person and take the time to explain. We’re always happy to answer questions, and we try not to overwhelm anyone with too much information.
How do you approach discussions about eyewear and lenses with patients to ensure they choose the best option for their needs?
It’s always a conversation. We listen to what the person actually needs. Some people want something affordable and reliable, others are looking for something more stylish. We stock a good range, and we make sure people understand the differences without all the technical jargon. We also pride ourselves on offering the kind of traditional, one-on-one service that’s not as common these days. It’s about taking the time, being honest, and helping people find the right fit both in terms of comfort and price.
Step into a world of grounded elegance with this season’s most captivating trend earthy and moody colour palettes. Inspired by nature’s raw beauty, these tones bring a sense of calm, depth, and sophistication to any space.
EARTHY & MOODY COLOUR PALETTES
Think rich terracotta’s, deep olives, smoky charcoals, and warm walnut browns. These hues create a cocooning effect, perfect for the cooler months when we crave comfort and connection. Pair them with natural textures like timber, stone, and linen to enhance their organic appeal. The result? A space that feels grounded, soulful, and effortlessly stylish.
