OLD NAPLES REVIVAL

BOLD MODERNITY CELEBRATES TIMELESS FAMILY ELEGANCE

Front Exterior: The home’s side approach ensures a discreet, private entry, eschewing a traditional front door. Guests traverse a landscaped motor court past the garages, ascending to the elevated main level. “The design responds to the lot’s conditions and introduces a more understated sense of arrival,” Landscape

Architect Christian Andrea of Architectural Land Design explains. Swings from Four Oak Bed Swings and sconces from Coppersmith highlight the home’s Old Florida character.

Foyer: The entry establishes an eloquent tone from the outset. Randi Scott, Principal and Lead Interior Designer at R & Co. Designs, pairs a welcoming Chaddock console with a Made Goods mirror to channel sophisticated resort lobby elegance, while a custom Thibaut bench in Schumacher fabric crafts a soft, inviting nook. Above the tall wainscoting, Scott chose a textured woven wallcovering that reflects the home’s proximity to the Gulf.

JJust one house from the Gulf, this Old Naples residence marries architectural elegance with inviting comfort. Designed by MHK Architecture and brought to life by Randi Scott, Principal and Lead Interior Designer of R & Co. Designs, the home blends enduring of Old Florida charm with modern sensibility. Big Island Builders executed the construction with exceptional craftsmanship, paying close attention to every structural detail to bring the vision to life. Meanwhile, Architectural Land Design enhanced the project by creating lush, harmonious outdoor spaces that complement the residence, which is both stately and inviting.

Randi Scott joined the project early, allowing her to shape ceiling details, millwork, and overall flow. “The clients sought beauty and sophistication without sacrificing livability,” she explains. “Every element needed to accommodate their family — four sons, daughtersin-law, and visiting grandbabies.” u

Family Room: A spacious Chaddock sectional and Vanguard swivel chairs form an inviting circle around the limestone fireplace, set beneath a tongue-andgroove ceiling. Pocketing glass walls on both sides open seamlessly to the lanai, blending indoor and outdoor realms. Softly textured Schumacher and Kravet fabrics in cream and pale blue tones evoke a sense of calm sophistication. “We took great pride in the millwork details throughout this home,” Scott remarks. “They’re what create that handcrafted, custom feel.”

Kitchen: Winner of a Sand Dollar Award, this kitchen showcases bleached walnut cabinetry and a luminous marble and mother-of-pearl backsplash from MIR Mosaic. A sculptural blue Lacanche range adds artistic flair, while dual islands — one designed for casual family dining, the other anchored by a Ferguson Home sink and fixtures — balance function and flow. Lavezzi Quartzite waterfall counters from UMI Stone blend strength and elegance, tied together by tailored millwork. Legno Bastone Wide Plank Flooring in Coreca from the Dolce Vita collection, sourced from Naples Flooring Company, grounds the family room in natural warmth and continuity.

From the street, crisp white siding, a standing-seam metal roof, and tiered porches evoke timeless Old Naples charm. Inside, the atmosphere shifts to one of quiet luxury, defined by pale woods, watery hues, and tactile textures. Scott describes the aesthetic as sophisticated coastal — grounded in natural materials yet elevated through thoughtful craftsmanship.

“The owners wanted a quintessential Old Florida home,” says Matthew Kragh, Principal of MHK Architecture. “It needed to be hurricane-resilient, oriented to the Gulf, and true to Naples’ architectural roots.” He achieved that balance through elevated breakaway construction and the addition of a second-story pool deck that embraces Gulf breezes while keeping the residence safely above flood level. “This was an architect’s dream site,” Kragh adds. u

Study: Deep blue lacquer and bleached walnut accents envelop the owner’s study in urbane calm. Built-in shelving lines the walls alongside the desk, displaying vintage volumes and curated artwork that evoke quiet intellect and cultivated taste. Sunlight dances across the lacquered surfaces, deepening the room’s reflective allure and pool views below. “We wanted to avoid a typical louvereddoor look,” Scott notes. “By designing a flat, grooved panel and lining the shelves with bleached walnut, the space gained texture and a tailored edge.”

Dining Area & Bar: The homeowners’ lifestyle shaped the design of this flexible gathering space, where a traditional dining room gives way to an expansive eat-in island and adjacent cocktail area outfitted with six swivel chairs and two ottomans. An antiquemirrored backsplash behind the bar reflects natural light and coastal views, blending utility with ambiance. Custom cabinetry conceals Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances from Fuse Specialty Appliances & Plumbing, with a wine refrigerator showcasing favorite bottles. Nestled between the kitchen and lanai, the space flows effortlessly from morning coffee to evening cocktails. A beautifully designed staircase by Florida Stairworks & Carpentry — made of light woods, elegant balusters, and smooth lines — captures attention, connecting floors with subtle sophistication and warmth.

Primary Suite & Patio Sunset (Right): The owners’ private sanctuary claims the entire top floor, oriented toward the Gulf. In the bedroom, upholstered pieces like the Baker bed, layered neutral tones, and flowing drapery create a serene atmosphere. A pair of custom Chaddock chairs in Vanguard fabric face the fireplace and builtin shelving, lending a sense of intimacy, while a plush Stanton carpet that nearly spans the room adds a touch of warmth. Closets throughout the suite, crafted by PLC Closets, sustain the home’s seamless luxury and order. Beyond the French doors, a terrace furnished with a Palecek round chaise invites relaxed sunset viewing. “They sought coastal timelessness over trends,” Scott notes. “Every material embodies easy elegance.”

Primary Bathroom – Hers (Right): A sculptural Kallista soaking tub, marble flooring, and silk-covered walls establish a serene, luxurious retreat. Built-in towers flank the vanity for discreet storage, while polished nickel fixtures add a subtle luster. Sunlight streams through corner windows, amplifying spa-like tranquility.

Primary Bathroom – His: Richly veined marble and tailored, masculine details define his private bathroom, featuring a secluded outdoor shower amid tropical greenery. Custom hisand-hers vanities share cohesive design with distinct hardware for subtle differentiation, united by framed-edge countertops in individual palettes. A geometric tile pattern adds crisp contrast in the shower, with a pivot door opening directly to the patio shower. “We had to construct a curb and integrate a specialized drainage system to prevent exterior water from entering the interior shower,” explains Jay Bowerman, President of Big Island Builders.

“This home was designed for an elevated lifestyle,” says Landscape Architect Christian Andrea. “The main living floor is one level up, so you’re in a treetop vantage point looking toward the Gulf. We treated the pool and deck as the heart of the home — where all the views and gathering spaces come together.”

Scott’s interiors mirror the home’s architectural precision with a calm interplay of tone and texture. In the family room, an oversized sectional and cabana-striped swivel chairs anchor around a stone fireplace, framed by glass walls that glide effortlessly into hidden pockets. “When you open the sliders, it feels as if the beach becomes part of the room,” she remarks.

The kitchen — recently honored with a Sand Dollar Award — anchors the main living space in bleached walnut cabinetry and a mother-of-pearl backsplash that glimmers like the shoreline. Two expansive islands replace a formal dining room, fostering casual gatherings and effortless flow to the lanai. “This family loves to be together,” Scott notes. “Every inch had to support that.”

The entire third floor serves as the owners private sanctuary overlooking the Gulf. The primary suite unfolds onto a secluded terrace with panoramic water views, where a restrained palette and sculptural headboard gain depth from layered textures. His-and-hers bathrooms harmonize contrast and unity — hers luminous and spa-like in marble and polished nickel, his rugged by deep stone veining and a palm-shaded outdoor shower. u

VIP Guest Suite: A woven-rope bed and tonal textiles evoke coastal ease, while handcrafted millwork and textured grasscloth elevate the VIP suite bedroom with refined sophistication. The adjoining bath extends the organic palette with stone and wood elements. Adjoining the suite and opening directly onto the pool deck, the den serves as a relaxed lounge, anchored by a generous Vanguard sectional, expansive windows flooding natural light, and built-in refrigeration drawers paired with soft seating for casual gatherings.

Guest Bedroom & En-suite Bathroom: Navy linen-lacquered nightstands and a tufted Chaddock bed introduce refined contrast to linen and driftwood tones. Tongue-andgroove ceilings with tailored drapery add architectural rhythm, while expansive mirrors behind Jamie Young lamps amplify both light and water views. The en-suite bathroom pairs Cowtan & Tout wallcovering with a driftwood-inspired Hudson Valley vanity.

Millwork unifies architecture and interiors throughout the home. Tongue-and-groove ceilings, cypress paneling, and hand-finished cabinetry lend depth and authenticity. Scott’s mastery of proportion and layering crafts distinct yet cohesive rooms — from the deep blue study shelved with the homeowner’s grandfather’s books to guest suites bathed in natural light and soft linen tones.

Outside, the second-story pool deck, lanai, and lower-level lounge complete the seamless coastal living experience. This fluid design philosophy extended behind the scenes, reflected in the team’s exceptional collaboration.

“Even with completed plans, there’s always a layer of collaboration that happens on-site,” says Jay Bowerman, President of Big Island Builders. “We worked closely with the architect, designer, and client to refine details and made sure everything came together seamlessly.” n

Guest Bedroom: A tailored cream Vanguard bed and textured blue Rowe Furniture chair anchors the airy retreat. Crystal accents, refined linens, and a plush Couristan rug infuse quiet luxury, while crisp white millwork and tall windows sustain the home’s coastal brightness. The result feels relaxed yet meticulously curated.

“We worked closely with the architect, designer, and client to refine details and made sure everything came together seamlessly,” says Jay Bowerman, President of Big Island Builders.

Lanai: With outdoor dining at the top of the owners’ wish list, Scott selected Janus et Cie furnishings for sophisticated comfort. Cypressclad ceilings and louvered cabinetry blur indoor-outdoor boundaries, echoing the home’s architectural continuity. Distinct dining and lounging zones welcome intimate or grand gatherings, with warm wood tones extending the interior palette seamlessly. The result is effortless outdoor living, perfectly attuned to the Naples sun.

Pool: Elevated above the ground level, the pool deck channels a private resort, embracing sweeping Gulf breezes. Limestone decking, sleek glass railings, and tailored Hickory Chair lounges blend modern sophistication with serene luxury. An exterior staircase descends to the shaded terrace and putting green below.

Recreation Area: Beneath the elevated living level, the former parking space becomes a vibrant recreation area with artificial turf and a putting green. “Most people would pave it over,” Andrea observes, “but transforming it as a social hub makes it truly unique.” This inventive underhome footprint enhances a new dimension of livability — an all-season retreat that extends the outdoor lifestyle from top to bottom.
