METRO CABINET COMPANY

Relocating from California and Chicago to Florida’s west coast, this millennial couple was immediately captivated by a stately, centuryold waterfront home distinguished by its Bermuda pink façade and views of the Manatee River and Tampa Bay.

While preserving the home’s historic street presence, the owners envisioned a contemporary transformation of the waterfront side with expansive clerestory glass. Their kitchen design goal centered on clean-lined modern cabinetry with efficient storage and welcoming spaces for cooking, dining, and entertaining.

The existing 3” oak flooring was refinished to a warm medium brown, complementing the exposed brick wall discovered during renovation. The owner whitewashed the brick by hand, creating a soft contrast that highlights the clay’s subtle pink tones.

Vertical book-matched slab cabinetry in natural wood veneer with integrated matte-black Gola pulls defines the minimalist aesthetic. A striking textured quartz countertop with a 2” mitered edge anchors the 14’ island, which includes a 48” Galley Workstation sink with dual faucets. The same quartz extends up the hood wall as a backsplash, reinforcing the sleek, linear composition that was central to the design intent.

A nearby wet bar features a secondary sink, clear-cube ice-maker, and microwave, while the tall pantry wall conceals clever storage and a tambour-door home office station seamlessly integrated beside the refrigerator. n
