A Message From the President

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Black and White By the Bay. It is our hope that you will have an enjoyable evening while supporting the mission and future of the Academy of the Holy Names.

The proceeds from this auction help defray the cost of educating all pre-K to 12 students at the Academy. The funds raised tonight will enable us to enhance the educational and co-curricular experiences for our students, provide professional development opportunities for our teachers, and support programs like robotics in the elementary and middle schools and engineering in the high school.

This year’s Fund-an-Item will support need-based tuition assistance. The Academy provides some form of financial aid to roughly 20 percent of the student body. These funds make an Academy education more affordable for families whose children ordinarily would not be able to attend. A strong commitment to financial aid is a critical component of who we are as a school and is consistent with the mission and charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names. I hope you will be generous when you are asked to participate.

Tonight’s event is the result of the hard work and dedication of many members of the community. On behalf of the entire Academy family, I want to thank all of you who donated and procured items, chaired committees, and volunteered countless hours to this wonderful cause. I want to especially thank our co-chairs, Lorraine Korb and Kerry Lather, for the many, many hours they spent working to ensure a successful evening. Infinite thanks are extended to all our sponsors, and especially to the Puleo, Dutkowsky, Garateix, and Schonbrun famlies for their continued leadership-level support.

A special thank you to the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay for the fine hospitality at this magnificent hotel property and personal attention to detail with every aspect of tonight’s event planning. Finally, thank you to the Advancement Office, particularly JoAnne Linkner, who organized all the efforts to make this evening so special.

It is finally time for AHN’s 2020 auction, Black & White By the Bay, and we are thrilled you are a part of the excitement! We look forward to sharing this memorable evening with you.

As our evening kicks off, VIPs can enjoy a glass of bubbly from our one-of-akind champagne wall complete with white-glove service! VIPs will then taste delicious hors d’oeuvres while enjoying cocktails at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. All auction enthusiasts will socialize in the Audubon Foyer for a cocktail reception, where you will savor delectable appetizers and refreshing cocktails while mingling with friends and family. MYSTERY BAG

This chance drawing offers the opportunity to win a brand-new designer bag filled with luxurious goodies. Tickets may be purchased individually for $30, or four tickets for $100, until March 27th. The day of the event, the price per individual ticket will increase to $35. The winner will be announced on March 28th at the Black and White By the Bay auction at the Grand Hyatt.

WINE WALL

Auction guests may purchase a chance to choose a mystery bottle (or more) from the Wine Wall for their own private collection — or for their table the night of the event! Wine values range from $25 to more than $100. Attendees are offered one pull for $25 and two pulls for $45. Selections cover every varietal for even the most advanced palate.

HEADS or TAILS

Back by popular demand-- an interactive game of Heads or Tails where the winner will receive a $1,500 American Express gift card, generously donated by the Mothers Association! The more bracelets you buy (up to 10), the greater your chances of staying in the game.

• At check-in, each participant/couple will need to register their phone number in order to receive a BidPal bid number. You may also preregister your phone number and credit card prior to the event. By registering online, you can also activate the express check-out option.

• The Auction Committee has endeavored to correctly describe the property being auctioned.

• All sales are final. Items may be collected only after payment has been made. We cannot assume liability for any items left with the Academy. ALL ITEMS MUST BE PICKED UP BY APRIL 12, 2020. Items not picked up by this date will become the sole property of the Academy of the Holy Names.

• All items are subject to be placed in the Live Auction at the discretion of the Auction Committee.

• All items must be paid for in full the evening of the Auction unless prior arrangements have been made. Payment may be made in cash, check, American Express, MasterCard, Discover or VISA. ALL SALES ARE FINAL, and there will be no exchanges or refunds on items except where specified.

• Resort and private vacation homes are offered to adults. Minors must be accompanied by adults.

4. Alan Divers Art

Tonight’s highest bidder will win a one-of-a-kind 44” x 67” painting by Alan Divers, entitled “Jose Gaspar II.” With bright, primary colors, this abstract, acrylic painting of Gaspar’s pirate ship is sure to catch the eye of any art lover. Alan Divers is a self-taught artist, with degrees in business and finance. He and his wife, Heidrun, opened their custom frame gallery, The Great Frame Up, in 2006. For the past eight years, while serving the Tampa Bay community’s custom framing needs, Alan has grown into a prolific and well-known Tampa Bay artist. He began with pencil drawings and has moved into painting vibrant, acrylic works featuring abstracts and safari animals. He has gained quite a following. Alan’s art has been sold throughout Tampa and St. Petersburg, and has been auctioned at charity events for organizations like the Lowry Park Zoo. His art is displayed and for sale in their South Tampa Gallery, but this piece can be all yours. It will be a fabulous addition to any modern art aficionado’s collection
