Activities Introduction
After-School Activities are an integral part of our enrichment programme at Holme Grange. We aim to provide and promote a wide range of opportunities for pupils to flourish outside the normal classroom environment. Pupils are able to explore new hobbies and interests, broadening their minds and building new friendships.
With over 75 clubs across the School each week, we hope that there is something of interest for everyone.
Music
Please note that there are extensive music clubs that run throughout the school day as well as a range of one-to-one lessons. Please contact Mr Williams for more information.
Meeting for Clubs
Pupils in Reception do not attend clubs; after-school care is provided in the form of Chill Out. This is supervised by school staff and has provision suitable for pupils from Reception to Year 2.
Pre-Prep pupils in Years 1 and 2 are collected for their club by the member of staff leading. Prep pupils (Years 3 to 6) are required to meet their member of staff on the playground at 16.30. Senior School pupils are required to meet their member of staff at their agreed club location at 16.30.
Cancelled Clubs
If a teacher is unavailable to run their after-school club, we will try to cover this club. However, this is not always possible, and parents will be informed at the earliest opportunity of any cancellations. On some occasions, a club might have to be cancelled at late notice, and in this instance, parents might not be able to be informed in time. Pupils will always have the option of attending Chill Out or Prep in this situation.
Parents must inform the office if their child is unable to attend a club that they are registered on. Please email school@holmegrange.org before the club commences.
Paid Activities
Please note that some activities are paid activities (*). Prices at this time are all approximate and will be confirmed once numbers and coaches have been established. Once signed up, you will be charged for the whole term for these activities - the commitment is therefore for the duration of the term. Please remember that there is a minimum sign up for paid clubs. If the number who sign up falls short of this minimum requirement we reserve the right to cancel the club.
Club Commitment
Pupils are expected to commit to a club for a whole term or half-term where appropriate. Please ensure choices are made before the deadline, as we will only be able to offer Prep as an option after the deadline date.
Snack
If your child is staying for an after-school activity, Chill Out or Prep, please provide an additional snack for this time. May we remind you that we are a nut-free school and snacks should be healthy; no nuts, fizzy drinks, sweets or crisps are permitted.

Pre-Prep End of School Collection
Once after-school activities have been allocated, we are unable to make any changes to pupil lists. All activities will run until 17.30, unless stated. We understand that there may be exceptional circumstances where pupils may need to stay at school after the usual pick-up time and these can be accommodated on the day within the Chill Out session. If this is the case, please ensure that both the School Office and your child’s form tutor is made aware of this as soon as possible.

Platform works towards I-PATH graded examinations across dance and theatre, including Ofqual-regulated qualifications awarded by RSL Awards. This means that UCAS points are awarded for higher grades. We are excited to be offering both ballet and tap at Holme Grange. It is a fun and challenging syllabus, which allows pupils to build technique and grow their passion for dance.

Scratch Jr Club is a fun and creative coding club for Year 1 and Year 2 pupils. In this club, children will explore the basics of programming through storytelling, games, animations, and interactive activities using the ScratchJr app on iPads. Using colourful coding blocks, children can create their own characters and make them move, jump, dance, and talk by snapping commands together like puzzle pieces. Through playful, hands-on activities, children will develop important early learning skills such as logical thinking, sequencing, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence.

Through guided and free-choice art projects, they can express their imagination, build confidence, and enjoy the joy of creating their own masterpieces.

Our Holding Club is now available as a flexible option for parents who need to collect their child before the usual club finishing time of 17:30. It can be pre-booked during the club sign-up window for families who know they will need this provision each week but will always collect before 17:30. From September, we will also be trialling the club as an open booking provision, allowing parents to book their child in on the day whenever occasional childcare is needed, even if they do not usually attend. This added flexibility will help support families with unexpected commitments or changing schedules.
MondayThursday Study Study Club provides a quiet and supportive environment for pupils to complete their homework and other educational tasks. Children will be expected to use this time productively, with staff on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and support their learning where needed. This club runs from 16:30 to 17:30 and is designed for pupils who wish to focus on their schoolwork in a structured setting. Please note that early collection is not available, and all pupils will remain in the club until the end of the session at 17:30.

'Acting Up' is a paid-for club on top of our current drama opportunities at Holme Grange. Pupils will learn through a number of games and practices, improving their listening and presenting skills, ability to work with others and generally have fun!
Tuesday Chess Chess Club is a stimulating and challenging club where pupils can refine their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills through the game of chess. Children will develop advanced tactics, strengthen their concentration, and take part in both practice games and competitive play. There will also be opportunities for pupils to be selected to represent the school in chess tournaments, building confidence and a strong sense of achievement.

This term’s course will focus on teamwork as well as teaching the children some cool fencing tricks they can use in their matches! Once the course is completed, they will be awarded with the yellow term wristband

Each week, pupils will be taught how to make a sugar model by a professional local baker - Sarah from Daisy Cakes. Pupils will be taken through a step-by-step process and will make something to bring home every week.
Wednesday Trampolining Trampolining Club is an exciting and active club where pupils can develop their coordination, balance, and body control in a fun and supportive environment. Children will learn and refine a range of skills and routines, building confidence as they progress at their own level.
Wednesday Pokémon
Calling all Trainers! Whether you are a master battler, an avid collector, or just love the characters, the Pokémon Club is the place to be. Pupils will learn the strategy and math skills behind the official trading card game, design their own "Fakémon", create their own cards and put their knowledge to the test with weekly trivia. Casual fans and total beginners are very welcome!
Thursday Basketball Basketball Club is an energetic and engaging club where pupils can develop their teamwork, coordination, and game awareness through basketball. Children will practise key skills such as passing, dribbling, and shooting while enjoying a variety of fun drills and games.

The girls-only rugby club is a school-based club, delivered in partnership with Future Gen Sport and Bracknell RFC, designed to increase participation in rugby among girls within the school environment. It provides a welcoming and inclusive space where pupils can develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the game together. The club fosters a positive team culture and sense of belonging, while also offering clear pathways for talent identification and progression into higher levels of rugby. As part of the partnership, there will also be opportunities for guest coaches from Bracknell RFC to deliver sessions, giving players access to specialist expertise and enhancing their development experience.

*The cost of this activity is approximately £33 per session.* Pupils who sign-up to the school Flying Club will have a weekly lesson with a BYP instructor where they will learn practical flying skills on a desktop SIM and cover a range of aviation subjects including Meteorology, Physics, Weather, Navigation and Aerodynamics. Club members will then have the opportunity to put their skills to the test on a real aircraft twice per term. This course is for pupils who have completed Level 1 and above

An exciting opportunity for pupils to explore the world of filmmaking and bring their creative ideas to life. Throughout the club, participants will learn the key stages of film production, including storyboarding, scriptwriting, camera work, acting, directing and editing. Working individually and in teams, pupils will create their own short films while developing their creativity, communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Monday Art Throughout the term, pupils will create a variety of exciting projects using different materials and techniques that are not always possible to explore in larger class lessons.
Art Scholars are particularly encouraged to join, using the club as an opportunity to develop their portfolio, experiment with new ideas and techniques, and further challenge themselves creatively. Above all, Art Club is a chance to have fun, be imaginative and enjoy making art.

Tuesday Languages Our club gives pupils the chance to explore global festivals such as Día de los Muertos, Chinese New Year, Bastille Day, and Oktoberfest in a fun, relaxed environment.
Pupils will create decorations, learn key vocabulary, and discover traditions linked to each celebration. The aim is to build cultural awareness and confidence in languages beyond the classroom.

Tuesday TV Presenting
*The cost of this activity is approximately £12.00 per session* Step into the spotlight and develop the skills needed to become a confident TV presenter! This exciting new club will give pupils the opportunity to create and present their own news reports, interviews, reviews and feature segments in front of the camera. Throughout the term, pupils will learn key presenting techniques, including clear communication, voice projection, body language and interview skills. They will work both independently and as part of a production team, helping to plan, script and film a range of engaging content.
Whether you dream of being a presenter, journalist, broadcaster or simply want to build your confidence when speaking to an audience, this club offers a fun and supportive environment to develop valuable communication and teamwork skills while having plenty of fun in front of and behind the camera.
Wednesday Japan Club Japan Club provides an exciting opportunity for pupils to strengthen and celebrate our school's partnership with our sister school in Japan. Through regular contact and collaborative activities, members will help build meaningful international friendships while developing a greater understanding of Japanese life and culture.
Throughout the year, pupils will explore a wide range of aspects of Japanese culture, including traditions, festivals, language, food, arts and everyday life. There will also be opportunities to take part in special workshops and cultural experiences, helping to bring Japanese culture to life in a fun and engaging way.
This club is ideal for anyone with an interest in Japan, international connections and learning about the wider world, while helping to maintain and strengthen the valuable links between our two schools.

Suitable for players of all abilities, sessions will include skill development, match play and plenty of opportunities to build confidence and enjoyment of the sport.

Public Speaking and Debating Club is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop their confidence, communication and critical thinking skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Through a range of debates, speeches and discussion activities, members will learn how to express their opinions clearly, construct persuasive arguments and respond thoughtfully to different viewpoints. Whether you are an experienced speaker or looking to build your confidence, this club will help you become a more effective and articulate communicator.
An opportunity for committed footballers to take part in a range of football-based games and activities led by qualified coaches. Sessions will include a combination of technical skills, challenging drills and competitive match play, designed to stretch and develop players in a high-expectation environment. Participants will enhance their technical ability, tactical understanding and decision-making while being encouraged to push themselves and reach their full potential.

*The cost of this activity is approximately £33 per session.* Pupils who sign-up to the school Flying Club will have a weekly lesson with a BYP instructor where they will learn practical flying skills on a desktop SIM and cover a range of aviation subjects including Meteorology, Physics, Weather, Navigation and Aerodynamics. Club members will then have the opportunity to put their skills to the test on a real aircraft twice per term. This course is for pupils who have completed their Level 1.

Children will learn and refine a range of skills and routines, building confidence as they progress at their own level. The club encourages enjoyment, safe participation, and personal achievement while developing strength, control, and resilience.

Every day Holding Our Holding Club is now available as a flexible option for parents who need to collect their child before the usual club finishing time of 17:30. It can be pre-booked during the club signup window for families who know they will need this provision each week but will always collect before 17:30. From September, we will also be trialling the club as an open booking provision, allowing parents to book their child in on the day whenever occasional childcare is needed, even if they do not usually attend. This added flexibility will help support families with unexpected commitments or changing schedules.
Every day Study Study Club provides a quiet and supportive environment for pupils to complete their homework and other educational tasks. Children will be expected to use this time productively, with staff on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and support their learning where needed. This club runs from 16:30 to 17:30 and is designed for pupils who wish to focus on their schoolwork in a structured setting. Please note that early collection is not available, and all pupils will remain in the club until the end of the session at 17:30.
Monday Art Create different kinds of art, not easily taught in big classes, have fun and be creative!
Monday Sugar Craft *The cost of this activity is approximately £7.50 per session* Each week, children will be taught how to make a sugar model by a professional baker – Sarah from Daisy Cakes. Children will be taken through a step-by-step process and will make something to bring home every week.
Monday Girls Rugby The girls-only rugby club is a school-based club, delivered in partnership with Future Gen Sport and Bracknell RFC, designed to increase participation in rugby among girls within the school environment. It provides a welcoming and inclusive space where pupils can develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the game together. The club fosters a positive team culture and sense of belonging, while also offering clear pathways for talent identification and progression into higher levels of rugby. As part of the partnership, there will also be opportunities for guest coaches from Bracknell RFC to deliver sessions, giving players access to specialist expertise and enhancing their development experience.

*The cost of this activity is approximately £12.00 per session* Step into the spotlight and develop the skills needed to become a confident TV presenter! This exciting new club will give pupils the opportunity to create and present their own news reports, interviews, reviews and feature segments in front of the camera. Throughout the term, pupils will learn key presenting techniques, including clear communication, voice projection, body language and interview skills. They will work both independently and as part of a production team, helping to plan, script and film a range of engaging content.
Whether you dream of being a presenter, journalist, broadcaster or simply want to build your confidence when speaking to an audience, this club offers a fun and supportive environment to develop valuable communication and teamwork skills while having plenty of fun in front of and behind the camera.
Sessions will focus on developing key hockey skills, including dribbling, passing, tackling and shooting, through fun and engaging activities. There will be lots of opportunities for game play, helping children improve their decision-making, teamwork and enjoyment of the sport.

Our club gives pupils the chance to explore global festivals such as Día de los Muertos, Chinese New Year, Bastille Day, and Oktoberfest in a fun, relaxed environment.
Pupils will create decorations, learn key vocabulary, and discover traditions linked to each celebration. The aim is to build cultural awareness and confidence in languages beyond the classroom.
