Holland & Sherry presents a new furniture collaboration with Alex Lithgow, introducing three original designs: the Kallmus Sofa, Retiro Daybed, and Lavapiés Ottoman.
ALEX LITHGOW is a respected furniture designer and creative voice in the contemporary design world. Born and raised in Manhattan, his work is shaped by a multidisciplinary foundation in photography, technical drafting, and cultural studies. He first made his mark in the late 1990s as co-founder of CAOBA colección de muebles, where he established a reputation for high-quality, bench-made furniture with a warm modern aesthetic.
In 2019, he introduced his eponymous studio, Alex Lithgow Ltd. and in 2022, he expanded his vision with the launch of Otras Formas in New York City’s Flatiron District. Conceived as both gallery and design incubator, the space (its name a nod to his Latin American heritage) presents his works alongside a curated selection of contemporary artists and makers.
CRAFTMANSHIP & MAKING
Each piece in the Alex Lithgow collection is handcrafted in the United States at the Holland & Sherry furniture workroom. Using time-honored techniques and meticulous attention to detail, the collection reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, precision, and enduring quality.
RETIRO DAYBED
A daybed/sofa that incorporates novel engineering allowing for the upholstered back and armrest to rise from the seat's single panel crown. The asymmetrical wood base has a filleted edge apron and oversized legs which include inward facing “toes”. Upholstered in Bespoke Twill - Sachet by Holland & Sherry.

This contemporary tight seat sofa has an asymmetrical design that fits well in modern and eclectic interiors. Legs are available in solid wood or bronze. Upholstered in Bespoke Twill - Milliner Brown and Brunswick - Buff by Holland & Sherry.

LAVAPIÉS OTTOMAN
Six-legged round ottoman with an inward facing "foot" motif on each leg. The upholstered top is comprised of six wedge-shaped fabric panels that are seamed together and receives a center "blind" (buttonless) tuft. Upholstered in Melissani - White and Varsity Flannel - Tan by Holland & Sherry.
