Down on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, our new location in Queenstown is set to welcome its first 15 families for Family Camps this May, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for Hole in the Wall.

Family Outreach wrapped up the year with Thanksgiving and Winter Magic care packages sent to more than 200 families over the holidays. This is in addition to the 168 inperson and virtual offerings hosted for more than 4,000 participants in 2025. CampOut already has 92 regional offerings planned for the year ahead. The Hospital Outreach team, which surpassed 37,000 healing experiences in 2025, has already provided more than 2,000 interactions since the start of the new year and will soon be launching Camp for Caregivers at our partner hospitals.

At just three years old, Hazel was diagnosed with cancer. Her family’s days were suddenly filled with long hours in hospitals and frequent medical appointments.

Amid the uncertainty, the family found a bright spot when they met Bailey, a Hospital Outreach specialist who brought comfort and connection during hospital visits. As Hazel’s care continued, she built a special and meaningful friendship with another HOP specialist, Emma someone who quickly became an important part of her journey.

Over Hazel’s nearly three years of treatment, the duo has created everything from slime to self portraits.

“In the beginning, she was going to clinic four or five days a week, and it’s monotonous, and it’s hard, and it hurts,” mom Jaime said.

“And those days when Emma was there, she was excited. Having that time to move in a joyous way and not in a horrible way, it was…the best.”
