Somos un periódico bilingüe que sirve a toda la comunidad latina sin importar su nacionalidad, como también, aquellos que aman el estilo de vida latino. Cada mes te traemos una fuente de información que
representa nuestra colorida cultura con un toque de “Sabor Latino”. Celebramos lo lejos que hemos llegado. Nuestro éxito es el preludio de lo que está por venir. ¡Solo estamos empezando! ... Time really went by so quickly, this edition marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of Hola Latinos News and we couldn’t be prouder! Who are we? We are a bi-lingual newspaper serving all our Latino community no matter their nationality, as wells as those who love the Latino lifestyle. Every month we bring to you an information source that represents our colorful culture with a touch of “sabor latino”. We celebrate how far we’ve come. Our success is a prelude for what is still to come. We are just getting

¿Hubo fraude electoral? Cuestionan los Venezolanos
Miles de venezolanos que residen en el sur de Estados Unidos regresaron a Miami el pasado 08 de octubre defraudados e incrédulos de la victoria del presidente Hugo Chávez, quien ganó holgadamente un cuarto mandato. Capriles obtuvo 8.449 votos de ciudadanos venezolanos residentes en el sureste de EE.UU.
La derrota que sufrió el opositor Henrique Capriles en los comicios incito las dudas sobre el sistema electoral utilizado en Venezuela, en medio de denuncias de que está diseñado para favorecer al presidente Hugo Chávez hasta el grado de imposibilitar la realización de elecciones justas en el país. Analistas e integrantes de la oposición dijeron que Capriles perdió no porque hubiera fracasado en conquistar las preferencias del electorado, sino porque no logró defender la votación de una serie de mecanismos perversos que en conjunto constituyen fraude.

l número de los votantes latinos ha alcanzado un nuevo récord de 23,7 millones este año, según un estudio publicado esta semana por el Centro Hispano Pew. Esta cifra marca un incremento masivo del 22 por ciento del electorado Latino - más de 4 millones de votantes - desde la elección presidencial del 2008. he number of eligible Latino voters has reached a new record of 23.7 million this year, according to a study released this week by the Pew Hispanic Center. That figure marks a massive 22 percent increase in the Latino electorate -over 4 million voters -- since the 2008 presidential election. Latinos now make up 11 percent of the nation’s eligible voters, up 1.5 percent since 2008. Numbers from the four states that record voter registration by ethnicity -- Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina -- do show that Latino registration has increased since last presidential election. The growth of the Latino vote in recent years -- particularly the Mexican Americans who account for some 65 percent of the Hispanic population, according to Pew -– has changed political dynamics. Both campaigns have made greater efforts to reach out to Latino voters, and controversial issue of immigration reform.
The surge in eligible Latino voters is widely viewed as a political trend that favors Democrats. No modern-day Republican candidate has ever won a majority of the Latino vote. In 2008, Obama won 67 percent of the Latino vote while the GOP nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain, pulled in 31 percent. Mitt Romney is gaining Latino votes among likely Hispanic voters in Florida, a majority that believe that they are not better off than four years ago. Obama is ahead of Romney 51-44 percent among Hispanics, which is a relatively narrow advantage that could be a problem for a Democratic campaign that has the support of this minority. The difference here is that Cuban-American voters in Florida are mostly Republicans. However, in the rest of the country the story is different for Obama in regards to likely Hispanic voters. President beats Romney 66-31 percent throughout the U.S., according to the national survey of 1,000 likely Hispanic voters.

You can see the waves hitting the sand right from your table, and the people watching is fantastic. I recommend their signature dish, the “Tropical Seafood Omelet”, made with scallops and shrimp. They have a web cam; so if you stand in front of the camera and call your friends up north, you can wave to them with the beautiful beach behind you. I guarantee they will be jealous.

Located near Buchanan Street and the Ocean, the food is always fresh and tasty, the service is friendly and the restaurant is very clean. For $4.50 you can get 2 eggs, home fries, toast and jelly, and the view of the ocean is included in the price. What I like about Little Venice is that there are no “hidden fees”. I have been to other restaurants with breakfast “specials”, that over price the coffee, juice and other drinks. At Little Venice it is truly a special! Known for the best selection of fresh produce in South Florida, it is only opens Sunday’s from 9:00-5:30. Sometimes there is a line for the fresh smoothies made with a manual juicer but it is worth the wait. My favorite is a long walk or bicycle ride on the beach followed by a healthy juice and some shopping; gets you ready for Monday. Remember to bring cash, as credit cards are not accepted.

L
uego de doce años de labor ininterrumpida, la organización The Americas Community Center mantiene viva y consolida las premisas con que abrió sus puertas a toda la comunidad hispana en el sur de la Florida Ayudar, capacitar, asesorar y brindar acompañamiento a todos los inmigrantes, familias, artistas, pequeños y medianos empresarios, entre otros, han sido algunos de los logros que hoy la convierten en un punto de referencia en nuestra comunidad. Las cifras respaldan dicha labor, durante el 2012 se han registrado más de 2.132 visitas. Para el fundador y miembro activo de la organización, Fabio Andrade, una de sus mayores fortalezas es la rápida respuesta a las inquietudes y necesidades de la comunidad. “Detrás del nombre The Americas Community Center, hay un equipo humano que hace posible esta gran misión.Yo tengo personas muy valiosas que me acompañan en este ejercicio de ayudar a la comunidad, es por eso que ocasionalmente asumo un rol diferente dentro de ACC, para demostrar que somos un grupo y no personalizar la organización. Siempre me he esforzado para que Americas no sea la fundación de Fabio Andrade, sino que Americas sea la fundación
de la comunidad”. Señaló. De esta forma, el momento fue oportuno para que Andrade presentara al nuevo Presidente de la organización, un hombre que lo acompañó desde los inicios y con quien comparte las mismas inquietudes y sueños. “La junta directiva tomó la decisión de nombrar a Harol Calle, porque él es un tremendo líder. Tiene un ánimo de trabajar increíble, dedica su tiempo a su negocio pero consiente que la ley del universo es dar y recibir, compartir. Harol es una persona que apoya”, indicó. Sin duda alguna la lista es larga. Para Andrade cada persona dentro The Americas Community Center es clave al momento de ejecutar cualquier trabajo. Destaca la labor de otro co- fundador, Daniel Hurtado. “A él no le gusta mucho hablar en público, prefiere llevar un perfil más bajo, pero es vital dentro de la organización. Él es quien lleva la batuta en el área financiera. Por su parte, Gabriel Neira es un hombre que trabaja más en el área empresarial y resultados. Él nos ayuda con los avances y estrategias de la organización”. Señaló que hace poco se unió “a nuestro grupo un gran venezolano, José Mauricio Bello, quien desde que llegó a la institución ha hecho una labor espectacular, él es abogado.
Ha demostrado tener un tremendo liderazgo (…) Maneja como abogado varios frentes, el contractual, empresarial e inmigración. Nos cayó como anillo al dedo”, aseguró Andrade. Dentro de los logros durante este 2012, sin duda alguna, destacan las labores humanitarias. “Para mí es importante cuando ayudamos a una familia, honestamente hablando. Muchas veces los logros podrían verse pequeños desde afuera, pero representan tanto para una familia, que se convierten en grandes logros”, aseveró. Igualmente, manifestó que “tenemos mucha actividad con los Desayunos de Negocios y Charlas de Productividad, donde guiamos al empresario a establecerse y sobrevivir a esta economía que a veces es muy complicada, no es fácil, hay que trabajarla. Estamos pasando por un momento difícil, pero hay dos tipos de personas: los que lloran y los que hacen los pañuelos para el que está llorando. Entonces es el momento de mostrar liderazgo y talento”. Otra de las principales premisas dentro de la organización es resaltar el trabajo de las personalidades dentro de sus comunidades. “no hay premios para el pequeño y mediano empresario, para la persona comunitaria (…) Entonces nuestro sueño es honrar lo mejor
de todo lo que hemos visto con los Americas Golden Award. Hay personas que mucha gente no conocen, pero realizan una gran labor. Ellos merecen un escenario donde la gente nomine y la gente vote”. Manifestó. Otro escenario que destacó Fabio Andrade para el encuentro entre las comunidades latinoamericanas fue El Festival de Independencia y Negocios Expo 2012. “Es el testimonio de la propia gente quien nos hizo saber lo bien organizado que estuvo, con un clima magnifico, el comportamiento del público fue ejemplar. El acercamiento de las familias, es lo que siempre buscamos. Que todos los patrocinadores quedaran contentos con los resultados, siempre positivos. Este es uno de los eventos que queremos repetir para que la gente pueda seguir aportando ideas”, recalcó. Para Andrade, el reto más cercano es la búsqueda de una sede donde puedan impartir clases y seguir brindando apoyo a la comunidad. “Los invitamos a seguir visitando la organización, que la comunidad siga unida, Americas es para todos”. Asimismo, invito a participar de las próximas elecciones. “Todo el mundo salga a votar, tanto presidenciales como locales. Andrade also highlighted the work of another co-founder, Daniel Hurtado. “He does not really like public speaking, he prefers to keep a low profile, but he is a vital part of our organization. He is the one that head the finances. Meanwhile, Gabriel Neira handles the business side. He works on development and strategies for the organization. “ Recently joining the team is José Mauricio Bello, a Venezuelan who since coming on board has done a spectacular job, as lawyer on all fronts, said Andrade. n ocasiones introvertido, en el escenario un torbellino de encanto natural. Así es Lance Dos Ramos, quien llega a la ciudad de Miami a conquistar su sueño, la gran pantalla. Con tan solo 25 años de edad, este luso venezolano, ha logrado posicionarse como una de las promesas artísticas más importantes de Venezuela. El nombre de Lance Dos Ramos se ha visto figurar en importantes comerciales de televisión, novelas, shows, grupos musicales y hasta en el cine. “Cuando tenía siete años participe en los Mini Pops (agrupación musical venezolana) allí fue donde desarrollé el canto y el baile. Aunque no parezca soy muy penoso e introvertido, pero mi carrera me ayudo a eliminar esos miedos”. Un sinfín de herramientas claves para la vida ha forjado al hombre y al artista. Su humildad y carisma forman parte de su éxito. “Soy muy disciplinado gracias a la carrera. En mi época de estudiante siempre quise superarme y aprovechar las oportunidades que mis padres me daban en cuanto a mi educación. Esta carrera te lleva a enfrentarte constantemente con retos. Entonces trato de aprender de los demás para ir creciendo”
indicó. Al preguntarle en que área se destaca más, las risas se dejan colar pícaramente “a pesar de que te dije que era introvertido soy polifacético: bailo, canto, actúo, soy modelo y locutor. Aprendí mucho, porque entendí que cuando llega el momento uno tiene que expresar lo que siente”. Sobre la gira del musical “Grachi El Show en Vivo”, (serie que se transmite por el canal Nickelodeon), Dos Ramos asegura haber sido una oportunidad para afianzar sus conocimientos. “Me toco trabajar y prepararme fuertemente en la parte del canto, ya que es una obra teatral- musical y conllevaba baile. Esto exige que todo se haga con mucha más fuerza. El canto es una de las cosas que me gusta hacer. A los 15 participe en un grupo musical llamado Full kids”. Las telenovelas y unitarios han sido otras de sus grandes experiencias, entre ellas destacan: Destino de mujer, Cuando hay Pasión, Te regalo la Navidad, Los Querendones entre otros. También ha figurado como animador de programas deportivos y en Shows de moda y belleza. En el mundo de los comerciales, Lance no se queda atrás. Prestigiosas marcas venezolanas e internacionales contaron
con su valiosa participación. “Dependiendo de la edad me toco hacer desde alimentos, telefonía celular y en una oportunidad me toco hacer una cuña de condones para Italia. (Risas). Yo aun era un niño y por mi edad no tenía muchos conocimientos en la materia. A mi mamá le tocó explicarme todo, tal vez antes de lo que ella se imaginaba. Son anécdotas divertidas que recuerdo con cariño de mis inicios. Cuando uno empieza a temprana edad te toca ver, hacer y vivir cosas, que aunque no sean tu momento, lo asumes con responsabilidad porque es tu trabajo. Me parece una recompensa hermosa” contó el joven actor. Hace unos meses se estrenó la película “Memorias de un Soldado”. “Es un film maravilloso que trata sobre la historia de Venezuela. Lo que me gusta es que realza la importancia y aporte de los jóvenes en esa época de la independencia. Ya había hecho cortos, pero fue la primera vez que hacía un largometraje. Apenas fue estrenada, la invitaron a participar en el Festival de Shangai”. Lance se prepara para incursionar en el mercado de Miami y México. demo para una novela mexicana y espera viajar pronto a Venezuela para rodar otra película. Las expectativas son muchas. Con los años, Dos Ramos concluye que “cuando un artista comienza a temprana edad, lo más importante es la madures. Tener la ayuda de un buen núcleo familiar, que en primera instancia te apoye, te de buenos consejos, te haga tener los pies bien puestos sobre la tierra”. Su familia es su mayor influencia. Recuerda como sus abuelos viajaron de Portugal a Venezuela huyendo de la dictadura. “Sin duda al conocer todo lo que tuvieron que hacer como inmigrantes, las situaciones difíciles por las que tuvieron que pasar, empezar desde cero, en fin, creo que eso es una influencia muy importante”. La meta más grande de Lance es llegar a Hollywood “a pesar de que pueda sonar muy largo e imposible, ese es mi sueño y creo que poco a poco puedo dar pasos agigantados para llegar a cumplirlos. Todos los días trabajo para acortar ese camino que a veces se ve muy largo. Quiero llevar mis banderas como venezolano y descendiente portugueses a lugares donde se que es difícil llegar. Pero este es mi camino a seguir y para allá voy”.

The 25- years- old, good looking Venezuela has positioned himself as one of the most important artistic promises in Venezuela. The name Lance Dos Ramos has been included in major TV commercials, soap operas, shows, musical groups and even in motion pictures. “When I was seven, I participated in the Mini Pops (Venezuelan musical group), that’s where I developed my singing (which he loves) and dancing. His future goal is to get into the Hollywood market. “I want to take my flags as a Venezuelan and a Portuguese descendant to places that I know are hard to reach. But this is my path and that’s where I am going.

as posiciones de Yoga y técnicas de respiración representan una de las mejores terapias de movimiento y respiración que ayudan a reducir el dolor, especialmente de aquellas personas que sufren de artritis. Cuando la gente padece de dolor, su tendencia es el reducir o evitar ciertos movimientos, o bien, limitar su respiración mientras experimentan dolor al moverse. Dichas reacciones al dolor de la artritis típicamente llevan a una inmovilidad mayor. La gente con artritis y dolor de espalda necesita trabajar lentamente, concentrarse en mantener una buena postura, ampliar su rango de movimiento para aumentar la calidad de los huesos, mientras llevan a cabo una respiración correcta. El Yoga, en su modalidad curativa, puede ayudar a las personas que tienen este padecimiento. En nuestro centro hemos desarrollado la Serie de Yoga para Artritis que busca romper el ciclo vicioso de “no movimiento/no respiración” y permite recobrar la libertad de movimiento sin dolor. Esto se logra a través de ejercicios que han comprobado reducir los síntomas de la artritis, incrementando la energía, dando mayor
estabilidad a las articulaciones y reduciendo el dolor. La sesión de Yoga consiste en 3 partes: 1. Rango de movimiento y estiramiento: Las técnicas para ampliar el rango de movimiento trabajan cada articulación, moviéndola en varias direcciones. Las técnicas de estiramiento alargan los músculos, llevándolos un poco más allá de su rango de confort. 2. Ejercicios de fortalecimiento: Aquí se aplican técnicas isométricas diseñadas para utilizar aquellos músculos que están subutilizados (que no se usan debido al dolor que experimentamos) con el objetivo de evitar que se atrofien. 3. Ejercicios de resistencia: Aquí se incluyen un número de ejercicios de bajo-impacto para contrarrestar la fatiga prematura y el cansancio. Cada sesión dura entre 45 y 55 minutos. Para mejores resultados, se sugiere tomar 2 sesiones por semana. Es también recomendable formar grupos de apoyo para hacer de estas actividades algo divertido y una razón más para socializar. a interacción diaria con mis pacientes a través de mis 15 años de carrera ha permitido conocer gente maravillosa. Una sonrisa es algo verdaderamente simple pero trascendente, ya que tiene muchas implicaciones sobre nuestra mente y nuestro cuerpo.
10 razones para sonreír: 1. La risa: Remedio natural La risa libera serotonina y endorfina en el cerebro, mediadores químicos que producen el estado de buen humor y bienestar general. 2. La risa eleva el sistema inmunológico Reír eleva tus defensas, protege el cuerpo y la mente, renueva las

oga postures and breathing techniques are one of the best forms of movement and breathing therapies to help reduce pain, especially for those suffering from arthritis. When people are in pain, their tendency is to reduce or stop certain movement, or shorten their breath while engaged in painful motion. Such responses to arthritic pain can typically lead to even further reduced mobility. People with arthritis and back pain need to work slowly, concentrate on proper alignment, and increase range of movement and bone quality, while learning proper breathing. Yoga, as a healing modality, can help folks afflicted with these types of medical conditions. Our center has developed the Yoga Series for Arthritis which can arrest the vicious cycle “no motion/no breathe” and allow you to regain the freedom of motion without pain through exercises proven to help relieve arthritis symptoms while improving energy/stamina, increasing joint stability and decreasing pain. The program involves a personalized Yoga plan that includes the following 3 interventions: 1. Range of motion/Stretching exercises: Range of motion techniques that engage each joint and push it as far as practical in all appropriate directions. Stretching techniques that lengthen the muscles by stretching to the edge of comfort and then pushing just a bit beyond that point. 2. Strengthening exercises: Use of isometric techniques designed to engage underutilized muscles (those not used due to pain) in order to counteract the effects of atrophy. 3. Endurance exercises: Involve a number of low-impact exercise options designed to overcome premature fatigue and exhaustion. Each session lasts 45 to 55 minutes. For maximum benefits, a minimum of 2 sessions per week is recommended. l Mix Martial Arts (MMA), es un deporte de combate que incorpora técnicas y tácticas de distintas artes marciales. En el Sur de la Florida, MMA ha tomado un importante auge en los distintos gimnasios donde se practica. De la mano de Anthony Medina, el grupo de Fighters Source USA, no solo ha logrado consagrarse como uno de los mejores dentro de la disciplina, sino que asumieron el reto de preparar a los deportistas para destacarse en competencias internacionales categoría Amateur. Fue así como el pasado 22 de septiembre, Fighters Source USA partió a Suecia cargado de sueños, energías y la firme convicción de ganar. Arduos meses de trabajo y dedicación son el resultado de una excelente preparación física y mental para estos 31 deportistas que participaron en la Competencia Internacional de Amateurs Mix Martial Arts (MMA), en la ciudad de Bora. Para la Organizadora de Logística y miembro del equipo Fighters Source USA, Shirley Muñoz, lo que vivió es un sueño hecho realidad. “Estos chicos han estado muy emocionados con el viaje. Para muchos de ellos es una experiencia nueva, porque es la primera vez que salen al exterior a representar su país y a lo que más aman, las Artes Marciales. Esta disciplina se ha convertido en parte de su vida. Para mí ha sido un privilegio estar al lado de Anthony Medina, quien ha sido una gran ayuda para forjar el camino de estos chicos (…) Él es un visionario”.
El arte de “bailar en el ring”
Luego de seis años, Orlando Friol, de origen Cubano, señala que el MMA es su vida. “No sólo me ha brindado un sinfín de técnicas en el mundo de las artes marciales, sino que me ha cambiado la
vida. No es sólo realizar un combate y ver al oponente en la lona. Hace falta mucho más que fuerza, para mí es como bailar en el ring. Me he estado preparando desde hace dos meses, cuidando la alimentación y mucho cardiovascular para mantenerme en forma. Mi fuerte son las piernas y las entreno todos los días, ahorita compito con un record amateur de 3-4 (170 lbs.) Estoy muy feliz y dispuesto a ganar”. Y aunque para algunos sea sorprendente, con tan sólo 19 años, la representación femenina deja en claro que la mujer no es el sexo débil. Con 115 lbs, Delaney Owen lleva la batuta del combate femenino. “Es la primera vez que viajo y para mi es un honor representar Fighters Source USA. Estoy trabajando duro para llegar a ser una profesional. MMA es mi pasión, mi trabajo, mi deporte favorito. Lo es todo en mi vida”, contó. Asimismo, dijo que “es asombroso ser la única chica del grupo en este momento. Creo que es una oportunidad para demostrar q podemos hacer las mismas cosas que los hombres, entrenarnos como ellos y lograr excelentes resultados. Me gusta la acción y aprender técnicas de combate para defendernos en caso de ser atacada (…) Es asombroso”. “Aunque sé que muchas personas no me apoyan, porque lo ven como un deporte rudo, invito a todas las mujeres a q se animen a practicarlo. He conocido chicas que me han dicho: quisiera hacer lo mismo que tú, admiro tu fortaleza y valentía. Esas palabras me llenan de felicidad”, apuntó la atleta. De esta forma, el team de Fighters Source USA regresó triunfante de una experiencia que sin duda dejará huellas imborrables en las memorias de estos 31 deportistas, que seguirán trabajando hasta lograr llegar a ser profesionales y ver MMA convertida en una disciplina en futuros juegos olímpicos.

ix Martial Arts (MMA) is a combat sport that incorporates techniques and tactics of various martial arts. In South Florida, the practice of MMA has had a major boom and is practiced in numerous gyms. Led by Anthony Medina, the group Fighters Source USA has become one of the best in the discipline and has taken on the challenge to prepare athletes to win at international competitions in Amateur category. This past Sept. 22 they left for Sweden full of dreams, energy and with a strong conviction to win. Months of hard work and dedication are the result of excellent physical and mental preparation for the 31 athletes who participated in the International Competition of Amateurs Mix Martial Arts (MMA), in the city of Bora, Sweden. For Shirley Munoz, the organizer of logistics and member of the team Fighters Source USA, it was a dream come true. “These guys have been very excited about the trip. For many of them it’s a new experience, it is the first time they go abroad to represent their country and what they love most, martial arts. This discipline has become part of their lives. a comunidad del Doral está a la expectativa de un acontecimiento que cambiará su historia, el próximo 6 de noviembre de 2012, elegirá a un nuevo alcalde. Tres son los
candidatos para este importante cargo: el concejal Luigi Boria, El concejal Pete Cabrera y el ex Comisionado de la Junta Escolar, Frank Bolaños ¿Quién de ellos será el más calificado
para gobernar? Estos postulantes hablaron con Hola Latinos sobre sus propuestas, cómo van a resolver los principales problemas de la Ciudad y cómo van a impulsar su desarrollo.
Luigi Boria: “Para mí primero está la gente”
Pete Cabrera: “Yo estoy aquí para representar los intereses de la comunidad, no para congraciarme con nadie”
Frank Bolaños: “Yo voy a ser un Alcalde de la educación”
Este candidato es venezolano, en su país natal estudió contaduría en la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. Tiene 23 años viviendo en Miami. Admite: “yo comencé a incursionar en la política no con una mentalidad política, sino más bien de servicio. Yo venía desde mi iglesia sirviendo a la comunidad, sirviendo a la gente en sus necesidades básicas, pero también era miembro de la junta de condominio, fui presidente de varias asociaciones durante muchos años y eso me movió a expandir la visión de servir en la Ciudad”. Con esta motivación se convirtió en Concejal del Doral, cargo que ocupó por dos años. -¿Cómo abordará Luigi Boria el problema de las drogas en El Doral? -Las drogas es un problema y nosotros no podemos ser parte del problema, sino parte de la solución. La primera forma en que yo pienso abordarlo es generando un parque dentro del área afectada que es entre la 112 y la 114 con la 87 calle. Mi visión es crear un área que se pueda aprovechar todo el año, en la cual los jóvenes tengan donde distraerse, hacer deporte, educarse, porque va a ser un centro municipal con salones para que pueda haber clases de música, arte y los muchachos aprovechen su tiempo. Por otro lado, crear programas preventivos dentro de los colegios y también me parece bien importante crear programas de rehabilitación, en esto pienso enfocar mi atención como futuro alcalde de esta Ciudad. -¿Qué políticas promoverá para impulsar el desarrollo cultural de la Ciudad? -Quiero además del proyecto de arte “Design Distric Doral” que abarca la 82 y la 87 Avenida con la 25 y 58 calle, crear un área de arte dentro de la misma Ciudad y quiero enfocarme en hacer el centro municipal del que hablé anteriormente, con salones de música y arte para la comunidad. También en la zona del Down Town Doral deseo hacer un anfiteatro y así generar un ambiente cultural. -¿Cómo ayudará a los nuevos empresarios e inversionistas de El Doral? -Cada vez que alguien va a hacer un proyecto grande de inversión en la Ciudad del Doral yo trataría de reintegrarles lo que ellos invierten en los diferentes tipos de impuestos, para que eso sirva de incentivo para la creación de más fuentes de trabajo. Tengo la capacidad para gobernar y no defraudaré a la Ciudad del Doral.” -¿Cómo abordará Pete Cabrera el problema de las drogas en El Doral? -El problema de las drogas para mí es una consecuencia de que el Departamento de Policía del Doral no está funcionando. Se están cometiendo muchos abusos, hay policías nuestros desvalorizados y que están siendo intimidados, hay pruebas de eso, yo tengo tiempo denunciándolo y la Ciudad no ha hecho nada. Yo lo que haría como Alcalde para combatir este problema sería sanear el Departamento de policía y la Alcaldía en su totalidad, porque allí tampoco hay un ambiente saludable, de respeto para los empleados. El problema de las drogas y sus consecuencias no se puede seguir negando, hace poco un joven de la Escuela Ronald Reagan murió por tráfico de drogas y sobredosis. Además, hablé con el director de una escuela y me dijo que los muchachos al Morgan Levy Park, lo llaman CVS y al parque de la 58 lo llaman Walgreens, porque allí pueden conseguir cualquier tipo de drogas, eso es alarmante. Y con respecto a los programas para combatir este problema, sí son muy buenos, pero no están dando el fruto que deberían, porque la situación dentro del Departamento de Policía es seria. -¿Qué políticas promoverá para impulsar el desarrollo cultural de la Ciudad? -Yo propuse hacer un estudio de factibilidad para ver en qué se debe invertir el dinero, por ejemplo, si se va a hacer un teatro, hay que evaluar que tan rentable va a ser. Yo tengo la visión de utilizar el terreno que está frente a la nueva sede de la Alcaldía para construir un teatro, que tenga también un área para exhibiciones de arte. Este candidato de origen cubano, creció en Estados Unidos y comenzó a incursionar en la política a través de actividades comunitarias durante sus años de colegio y de Universidad. En los inicios de la Ciudad del Doral, trabajó con el Alcalde Juan Carlos Bermúdez y con el Comisionado “Pepe” Cancio en el primer Consejo Comunitario que tuvo la Ciudad. Luego, bajo la gobernación de Jeb Bush fue por 5 años Comisionado y Presidente de la Junta de Educación que representaba El Doral. “Como Comisionado de esta área, trabajé con el Alcalde Bermúdez y otros fundadores de la Ciudad, haciendo escuelas, ampliando las existentes y abrimos la primera Escuela Secundaria del Doral, Ronald Reagan. Hoy me lanzo a Alcalde porque hay una gran necesidad de que el poder pase a manos de alguien honesto y capaz de liderar la próxima década.” -¿Cómo abordará Frank Bolaños el problema de las drogas en El Doral? - yo voy a ser un Alcalde de la educación y es porque le tengo un gran amor y cariño al tema de la educación. Para mí esto significa una presencia constante en las escuelas. Esto incluye que la policía de la Ciudad esté más presente en las escuelas, apoyando a la policía escolar. La droga es un problema social, consecuencia de que hay conflictos en el hogar, emocionales, por eso es que es necesario hacer más programas para ayudar y ofrecerles alternativas a los niños. Yo plantearía que no solo se sigan apoyando los programas que ya existen, sino que también se cree un programa de educación moral, cívica y de carácter. Algunas escuelas ya tienen esto, pero yo quisiera que la Alcaldía cree su propio programa y que se incorpore al entrenamiento de ciudadanos y al mismo tiempo se lleve a otras escuelas que no lo tengan. ¿Cuál sería su política con respecto al desarrollo cultural del Doral? -En general aumentar nuestras vías culturales y de teatro, darle una mayor oferta tanto a la juventud como a los adultos. Esto lo lograría con la participación muy directa de la empresa privada, yo iría a las grandes compañías de esta Ciudad, incluso del Condado, con un mensaje de que nos ayuden a crear este centro de arte, de cultura. The salsa youth group from the Dominican Republic, “Ruina Nueva”, brings audiences a new music genre. Their style mixes classic salsa with a touch of urban R & B and Hip Hop. During their recent tour in Miami, they made their international debut in the popular Spanish television show “Sabado Gigante” and in the Doral area. The group has only been together for two years together but have managed to share the stage in Newark, NJ with Spanish singer Gilberto Santarosa.
