Cartier's 2026 Collection Makes the Case for the Most Meaningful Father's Day Gift

There are watches that tell time. And then there are watches that tell a story. Cartier has always understood the difference — and its 2026 offering is a masterclass in that distinction. In the wake of the much-anticipated relaunch of the Roadster, the House presents an edit of iconic timepieces that go far beyond mere function. These are objects of meaning, of history, of legacy — and for Father's Day, there is no more fitting gift than one built to last a lifetime.

SANTOS
DUMONT

EDITOR'S PICK

Santos de Cartier

Few watches carry the weight of history the way the Santos does. In 1904, Louis Cartier granted the wish of his close friend, the celebrated Brazilian aviator Alberto SantosDumont — a man who needed to tell time without taking his hands off the controls. The result was one of the first wristwatches ever created, and a design so perfectly resolved that it has required almost no reinvention in the century since.

The rounded angles of the dial. The seamless curve of the horns. The exposed screws — functional details that became the watch's most recognizable signature. The Santos was never just a timepiece. It was a statement about what watches could be when engineering and elegance were allowed to coexist.

The 2026 medium model in 18K yellow gold is the Santos at its most refined. Powered by Cartier's in-house Caliber 1847 MC — a manufacture mechanical movement with automatic winding — it sits on the wrist with the quiet confidence of something that knows exactly what it is. The silvered opaline dial catches light with understated elegance. The blued-steel sword-shaped hands are a detail so precise, so intentional, that they reward a second look every time.

What makes the Santos genuinely modern is its versatility. The bracelet — crafted in 18K yellow gold with Cartier's signature SmartLink adjustment system — comes paired with a second strap in alligator skin, both fitted with the QuickSwitch interchangeability system. In a matter of seconds, the same watch moves from boardroom to weekend without losing a beat. The 7-sided crown, set with a faceted sapphire, is the kind of detail that separates a great watch from an exceptional one.

At 35.1 mm wide and 8.83 mm thick, it wears with the elegance of a dress watch and the confidence of a sports piece — water-resistant to 100 meters, built for a life fully lived.

For a father who appreciates the finer things — who understands that the best gifts are never just objects, but stories worn on the wrist — the Santos de Cartier is the answer.

The World Cup Comes Home

Some issues are planned. Others feel like a calling. This is one of those.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is not simply the largest sporting event on the planet — it is a cultural phenomenon that transforms the cities it inhabits, moves passions across borders, and elevates its protagonists to a dimension far greater than the game itself. No one embodies that more than the men and the woman who grace these pages.

In this special edition, we celebrate a generation of former soccer player who redefined what success looks like after the final whistle — figures who conquered stadiums and then conquered boardrooms, who translated the discipline of elite sport into a philosophy for life and business. But this edition equally honors the female leadership reshaping soccer from within. We had the privilege of sitting down with Janelle Prieto, Chief Marketing and Community Officer of the FIFA World Cup 26™ Miami Host Committee — the architect behind the image, the voice, and the cultural soul of this tournament in our city.

We photographed them all, sat down with each of them, and asked what few dare to. What we found was far greater than sport. It was legacy.

Welcome to our most ambitious issue yet. I hope you will enjoy this fantastic celebration of the World Cup!

The Artist Behind the Face of World Cup 2026

How one artist channeled the spirit of a city — and the heartbeat of an entire world — into a single iconic image

When FIFA unveiled the official poster for the 2026 World Cup in Miami, one image stopped the world: a flamingo rendered in Art Deco geometry, its body composed of soccer-ball patches, each a nod to a different Miami neighborhood. Behind it stands a Brazilian-born artist whose multicultural biography reads like the city itself. The assignment, he says, was the most demanding of his career. “I wanted to capture the essence of the real Miami — all its colors and cultural references — in a single image recognizable anywhere in the world,” he explains. “It was not an easy task because Miami is such a vibrant cultural blend.” His solution was the flamingo. “I chose it as Miami’s unofficial symbol, and the soccer ball became a representation of the city itself, with each individual patch inspired by different neighborhoods and cultural influences. The Art Deco style was very important because it was immediately connected to the city’s visual identity. I wanted the poster to instantly feel like Miami.” The result is not a postcard. It is a portrait.

ROOTS & REINVENTION

Born in Brazil and shaped by years living across Latin America, New York, and South Florida, the artist brings a layered perspective that he says is inseparable from his work. “The fact that I was born in Brazil and exposed to multicultural diversity from a very young age became one of my greatest strengths as an artist,” he says. “I absorb different cultural influences and transform them into ideas, emotions, and storytelling through my work.” That background, he adds, is precisely why Miami feels like home. “This city has created and matured its own identity without denying its very strong Latin roots. Miami fully embraces different influences and transforms them into a unique culture of its own. It makes our music, art, sports, and everyday life richer.”

“Soccer is not only about the sport itself — it’s about passion, resilience, and overcoming. It’s about where these players came from, their families, and how many become heroes and inspirations for future generations.”

THE HUMAN POWER OF FÚTBOL

For those outside the soccer world, the emotional grip of the World Cup can be difficult to explain. The artist offers a simple framework. “I believe it’s really a matter of exposure,” he says. “Once you start watching the games with family and friends, it becomes about belonging. And when you learn the personal stories behind each player and each team, you naturally get emotionally connected.” The sport, he insists, runs deeper than the ninety minutes on the pitch. “That’s why the World Cup has such a powerful emotional impact — once people connect to those human stories, it becomes much more than a game.” That universality, he argues, is what makes the tournament unlike any other event on earth. “The World Cup creates a rare moment where every nation, regardless of size or power, has an equal opportunity to participate, compete, and share its culture and identity with the world. Under the same rules of the game, everyone competes equally, and the best will win.” Beyond the competition, something more lasting takes root. “The pride that each nation brings to the tournament creates a huge exchange of life experiences and cultures. You leave the World Cup with a better understanding of other people and their traditions simply by sharing those moments together.”

THE MOMENT EVERYTHING STOPPED

When his design was announced as the official poster, the artist’s reaction was unguarded. “My jaw literally dropped. I had no idea until the moment of the reveal,” he recalls. The recognition, he says, carried a meaning beyond personal pride. “I was already happy just to be there and be part of such a special moment. Being chosen among such a talented group of artists meant a lot to me — it showed that FIFA connected with and believed in my artistic vision.” Miami, the flamingo, the beautiful game. A city. A moment. An icon.

Some games end in the stadium… and others only begin when the lights go out.

The truth is that many professional athletes face a silent battle after their careers end: financial bankruptcy, loss of identity, and the fear of starting over. For years, they were trained to compete, win, and remain strong in front of the world, but very few were prepared to manage money, build emotional stability, or reinvent themselves once the fame fades.

And that is also a kind of goal. Perhaps the hardest one of all.

In this special sports edition of Hola Latinos Magazine, we learned something deeply powerful: athletic success does not guarantee preparation for life. Many athletes reach the top by becoming extraordinary on the field, but off the field, they discover that finances, emotions, and reinvention require a completely different kind of discipline.

Because when fame knocks on your door, you also must prepare for what happens after the applause. Part of the vision of organizations like FIFA — and the leaders shaping the future of modern sports — must include financial education, emotional stability, and real-life tools that allow athletes to sustain their lives beyond a contract or a season. That is exactly what we admire about men like Nemanja, "El Burrito," and Jorge Fajardo, among others, who understood that life always offers a chance to begin again.

They represent something deeper than sports.

They represent resilience.

Because many men remain silent.

Silent about the shame of failure.

Silent about financial anxiety.

Silent about the fear of not knowing who they are after the career that defined their lives comes to an end.

"And that is precisely where Lo Que Callan los Hombres Podcast was born."

This project is not simply a podcast. It is a necessary conversation about masculinity, purpose, emotional pressure, and personal reinvention. It is a space where successful men can speak honestly about what they truly feel once the cameras are off and the applause has died down.

Today more than ever, we need authentic conversations. We need leaders capable of admitting that life also hits hard outside the stadium. Because true success is not measured only by trophies, but by the ability to rebuild yourself when everything changes.

As Vice President of Strategic Alliances for Hola Latinos Magazine, I feel proud to see how we are creating tangible change. We have already launched the podcast, we are producing more human and conscious events, and we are elevating our editorial, visual, and narrative storytelling to build a platform with purpose.

Every man featured in this edition represents something important: Life is a marathon.

And we must train emotionally, spiritually, and financially to sustain it. That, too, is part of what men don't say.

And we are only getting started.

Juan Manuel “El Burrito” Martínez Hola Latinos Magazine

Me requería mucho tiempo — mi tiempo vale.”

Juan Manuel “El Burrito” Martínez - Hola Latinos Magazine

Juan Manuel Martínez needs no introduction in the world of soccer. Known as “El Burrito,” he has always carried the passion, creativity, and competitive spirit that define Argentine soccer. From Vélez Sarsfield to Boca Juniors, from Corinthians to Real Salt Lake, from Independiente to the Argentine national team — Martínez built a career defined by speed, instinct, vision, and unforgettable moments on the pitch.

Today, his impact continues in Miami. As the Coach Director of Miami Breakers FC, he guides the next generation of players with the same standards that took him to the highest levels of the game. As an ambassador for Proffenix, he supports professional athletes through their transition into life after sports, providing guidance in business, finance, real estate, wellness, and personal branding.

In an exclusive interview with Hola Latinos Magazine, Juan Manuel “El Burrito” Martínez opened the doors to his world — that of a man who carries soccer in his blood and the future in his mind.

How did you get into the soccer business?

"It all started with a void no one else could fill."

When El Burrito arrived in the United States, players wouldn’t stop calling him. About real estate, business opportunities, and how to navigate a new country. These were questions he himself had once faced — and that no one had answered for him in time. At some point, he did the math.

“So many players were calling me, I thought — why not turn this into a business? It was taking up a lot of my time. My time is valuable.”

That’s how Proffenix was born — a company built from the inside, by someone who lived firsthand what it means to retire from professional sports without a roadmap. Today, Proffenix supports professional athletes through that transition, offering personalized guidance in career development, financial management, and building a fulfilling life beyond the field. The message is clear: retirement is not the end — it’s a new beginning.

What was the peak moment of your career?

He didn’t hesitate for a second.

“Without a doubt, the most beautiful moment was making my debut with the Argentine national team and playing alongside Messi. That match — Portugal vs. Argentina — with Messi right next to me and Cristiano Ronaldo on the other side.”

He was fouled for a penalty. Then Messi scored. They won one to zero.

“That was the moment I said to myself: I am in the elite of the elite.”

For El Burrito, that match wasn’t just a result — it was confirmation that years of sacrifice, discipline, and personal cost had been worth it.

What do you project for this World Cup?

Surprises. Many of them. Three countries, more teams, more miles for fans to travel — a format the world is still learning to digest.

“I believe this is the first of many World Cups that will come in this format.”

What does soccer mean to you?

“There is no event or sport more beautiful than can make you feel so many emotions in so few seconds.”

But Martínez is quick to note what the world sees — the money, the fame, Messi, Cristiano — is only the surface. Underneath lie hotel rooms, training camps, matches, and very little time with family.

“Even they — the greatest of all time — are captives of so many things. Reaching the elite requires enormous sacrifice, both personally and from the family that stands behind you.”

It is precisely that reality — invisible to the public — that Proffenix exists to address. Because when the final whistle blows, an athlete needs more than memories. They need a plan.

Tell us about your family.

His wife is the backbone of everything. His three children — Julieta, Tomás, and little Delfina — are already playing soccer. At home, two rescued dogs complete the picture, a tradition carried over from Argentina.

The soccer legacy also runs through the bloodline: his grandfather was a professional, his father was a professional, and his brother, too.

“Now it’s up to any one of my three children to carry on the Martínez Legacy.”

What’s next for you?

El Burrito didn’t stop at consulting. As the Coach Director of Miami Breakers FC, he brings his elitelevel experience directly to the next generation — shaping players with the same vision and discipline that once had him sharing a pitch with the best in the world. Meanwhile, Proffenix continues to grow — with one arm dedicated to clubs, and another focused exclusively on athletes as individuals.

“Getting into the entrepreneurial world — I love it, it excites me. I see myself in that world.”

And he’s right to. Few people understand the professional athlete the way someone who was one does. Proffenix ensures athletes are supported after their sports career.

He currently resides in Miami, and for someone who has played in Saudi Arabia and traveled the world with a soccer ball at his feet, Miami was always going to feel like home. El Burrito Martínez keeps moving — only now the field looks different. And the goals he's aiming for are of a different kind: legacy, community, and the certainty that the best chapters of his story are still ahead.

FROM PITCH TO PROPERTY Nemanja Vučicević Is Redefining What Life After Sports Looks Like

Some athletes retire. Nemanja Vučicević evolved.

After nearly two decades competing at the highest level across Germany's Bundesliga, with TSV 1860 Munich and 1. FC Köln — Russia, Israel, Greece, Turkey, and Japan, Vučicević did what very few professional athletes do: he saw the end coming long before it arrived and spent that time building in parallel. Quietly investing. Learning. Preparing. By the time the final whistle blew, he was already several steps ahead. Today, from Miami, he runs From Pitch to Property — a platform transforming how athletes think about money, real estate, and the years after a professional career. He has lived the pressure, the lifestyle, the transition, and the discipline it takes to come out the other side with something real to show for it. He is not just talking about the journey from athlete to entrepreneur. He has made it — and now he is holding the door open for others.

Many athletes struggle after retirement. Why?

From a very young age, athletes dedicate their entire lives to the game — the training, the pressure, the routine, the identity. Everything becomes connected to performance. What helped me was that, even while playing professionally, I was always trying to grow beyond soccer — learning languages, investing, exploring different cultures. Real estate became a natural part of that journey. By the time I reached my 30s, I already had clarity about what I wanted to build after soccer

How important is it for athletes to plan beyond their playing careers?

The athletes who think ahead — who slowly build another side of themselves while still active — are the ones who transition most successfully. The money athletes make is usually not the problem. The real problem is that it often lacks structure, direction, and a long-term purpose.

What is missing when it comes to how athletes manage their finances?

Athletes spend their entire lives preparing to become professionals — training, discipline, performance, mentality. But almost nobody teaches them how to manage success once the money starts coming in. And that's where many problems begin. The same discipline you apply to your body should also be applied to your finances. Money should work for you, not disappear around you.

Is that what inspired you to create your platform?

Yes. I wanted to build a space where athletes can have honest guidance and speak directly with someone who has lived that life and understands what truly works. Not pressure. Not selling. Real conversations, transparency, education, and long-term thinking. Because sometimes all an athlete really needs is the right person around them at the right moment.

What drew you specifically to Miami?

I visited many incredible cities — New York, Chicago, Los Angeles — but Miami was different. The energy, the international lifestyle, and the city's ambition connected with me immediately. In some ways, it reminded me of Belgrade — my hometown. Completely different in size, but similar in spirit. Miami attracts dreamers, entrepreneurs, athletes, and investors who want to build something bigger. From a real estate perspective, I also saw enormous long-term potential here.

What separates athletes who succeed long-term from those who struggle?

Awareness and long-term thinking. Some athletes live only in the moment — the contract, the lifestyle, the game. But if you never think beyond the training field, eventually the game ends, and reality becomes very difficult. The athletes who build lasting legacies understand early that they are more than just athletes. They educate themselves. They invest. They prepare while still active.

What advice would you give to young athletes today?

Think beyond the practice field. Because one day the stadium lights turn off. And when that moment comes, the people who built something beyond soccer are the ones who continue growing long after the career ends.

Prieto

Vienen a sentir algo.

Chief Marketing and Community Officer for the FIFA World Cup 26™ Miami Host Committee

One Executive. One City. One Historic Moment.

Janelle Prieto is the newly appointed Chief Marketing and Community Officer for the FIFA World Cup 26™ Miami Host Committee — and few people are better prepared for the moment. A proud daughter of Cuban immigrants raised in Miami, she brings over 16 years of experience across sports, corporate, and non-profit sectors. She previously led communications for Concacaf, served as Vice President of Communications for the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee — where she launched the iconic LIVE IT MIAMI™ campaign featuring Pitbull — and spent six years at Diageo as Global Head of Learning for Life™, operating in 48 countries with over 160,000 graduates. Now, with the world’s biggest sporting event coming to her hometown, she is exactly where she was always meant to be.

The World Cup is coming to Miami. What does this moment mean for the city — and for the Latino community that has shaped its identity for decades?

Miami has always belonged on the world stage, but the World Cup feels different. This is personal. Miami was built by immigrants, by culture, by rhythm, by resilience — and the Latino community is such a huge part of that story. You feel it everywhere. In the music, the food, the language, and the way people celebrate life and soccer.

For so many Latino families, soccer was the connection to home long before it became mainstream in the United States. To see the biggest sporting event in the world come to a city that feels so deeply Hispanic and international is incredibly emotional. This World Cup is more than matches. It’s a love letter from Miami to the world.

Behind the excitement is an enormous responsibility. What has been the hardest part of leading at this level?

People see the glamour, but behind it is enormous pressure — balancing governments, FIFA, the media, sponsors, municipalities, and community expectations while the clock ticks toward an event the entire world will watch. There is no pause button.

The hardest part has been carrying the emotional weight of wanting to do this right for Miami. I’m not just marketing an event. I’m helping shape how millions of people will experience our community and our culture. Leadership is about staying calm in chaos — absorbing pressure without passing panic onto your team. That emotional discipline defines this role.

As a Cuban American woman in executive leadership, what does it mean to represent Latinos on this global platform?

It means everything. My parents came from Cuba with very little, like so many families who came to Miami chasing opportunity and freedom. There are moments where I stop and think — the daughter of Cuban immigrants is helping lead communications for the biggest sporting event on earth. That’s not lost on me.

I hope young Latina women look at this and realize there is space for them at these tables. You can be creative, emotional, ambitious, authentic, and strong — all at once. I lead as myself. Loud, passionate, proud of where I come from. That authenticity is part of Miami’s magic, too.

What cultural legacy do you hope remains in Miami after the tournament ends?

I hope people remember how Miami made them feel. Pride in our diversity, in our neighborhoods, in the fact that so many cultures can coexist and create something beautiful together. Maybe a little girl in Hialeah or Miami Gardens sees this moment and suddenly feels connected to the world. That is the legacy that matters. Human legacy. Cultural legacy.

The world is coming to Miami. What invitation would you give to the global audience? Come experience the real Miami. Not the postcards. Not the stereotypes. The soul of this city is its people. Sitting at a cafecito ventanita. Hearing five languages in one room. Caribbean music, reggaeton, and house music playing side by side. The feeling that the whole world somehow exists inside one city. During the World Cup, you’re not just coming to watch soccer. You’re coming to feel something.

Duro

Transforming the Future of Spanish-Language Sports

Some executives manage legacies. Others build them. Joaquin Duro is firmly in the second group.

As Executive Vice President of Sports and Head of Streaming for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, Duro leads Telemundo Deportes with a vision that extends well beyond the traditional screen: production, programming, acquisitions, operations, and multiplatform content — all in close collaboration with NBC Sports and Peacock.

His portfolio speaks for itself: the FIFA World Cup™, the Olympic Games, NFL Sunday Night Football, the Premier League, and Liga MX’s Chivas de Guadalajara. But what truly sets him apart is how he has transformed that platform. A digital media trailblazer with over two decades of experience, he was a central figure in Telemundo’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ — which produced the most-streamed World Cup match in U.S. media history, in any language.

That milestone was built on years of digital investment when few were paying attention. As Senior Vice President of AVOD Streaming and Digital, he shaped Telemundo’s digital strategy for the Olympic Games, NFL Super Bowls, U.S. presidential elections, and the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Before Telemundo, he held senior roles at Univision Communications Inc. His career has earned him three Emmy Awards, eight Cynopsis Media honors, and two nominations for Digital Executive of the Year.

A Florida International University graduate in Language and Literature with a minor in Journalism, Duro is a product of Miami — a city that, like him, thrives in two languages. As the media landscape rapidly evolves, he has demonstrated for years that Spanish-language sports go beyond passive viewing. It’s something you stream, share, and live — on every screen, all at once.

Mike Eidson’s journey — from courtroom leadership to cultural visionary — reflects a rare evolution built on a single, enduring principle: impact. As President and Senior Partner of Colson Hicks Eidson, he has spent more than four decades fighting for those who needed it most. He won the first case establishing that the Ford Pinto fuel system was defective — a landmark verdict that reshaped automobile safety worldwide. He served as national co-lead counsel in the Ford-Firestone multidistrict litigation, ultimately leading to the recall of 40 million tires. And he led the case on behalf of victims from nine nations lost in the 1996 crash of AeroPeru Flight 603 against Boeing Corporation. Decades in, he remains one of the most formidable trial attorneys in the country.

His legacy is measured not by verdicts but by the industries he made safer, the lives he protected, the artists he empowered, and the community he enriched with culture.

“Both arise from the same conviction that one person, in one lifetime, can leave things measurably better than he found them.”

His legal career has been defined by accountability and protection. His work in the arts is defined by inspiration and connection. Both arise from the same conviction that one person, in one lifetime, can leave things measurably better than he found them. In a world often driven by recognition, Eidson represents something quieter and more lasting — the authority of a man who builds, who elevates, who gives without needing the room to notice.

That conviction lives in the heart of Coral Gables, inside beautifully restored historic church buildings originally designed by renowned architect Phineas Paist — the man behind the Venetian Pool, the Douglas Entrance, and Coral Gables City Hall. There, alongside his wife Dr. Margaret Eidson, he has built the Sanctuary of the Arts — one of South Florida’s most compelling cultural institutions, now mentioned alongside the Adrienne Arsht Center and the Fillmore Miami Beach.

With decades of leadership at the Miami City Ballet and the Adrienne Arsht Center behind him, Eidson recognized what large institutions could not provide — intimacy, accessibility, and a true home for artists to learn, create, and collaborate. What began as a single restoration grew into four historic spaces, including St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church — founded in 1924 and a cornerstone of the community during the civil rights era — preserved and transformed into a fourth cultural home. The caliber of programming rivals institutions many times its size, yet with an intimacy no arena can replicate.

Seventy-five performances annually. World-class musicians, Grammy-winning performers, celebrated dance companies, and literary voices of national renown. Pulitzer Prize-winning historians have spoken here. Major documentary premieres have taken place within its walls.

Most recently, the Sanctuary marked one of its greatest milestones — the historic debut of the Miami City Ballet Orchestra performing on stage, stepping out of the pit and into the spotlight for the very first time. Bold, intimate, and utterly unforgettable — precisely the kind of moment the Sanctuary was built for.

A new season is already on its way, with exciting premieres that promise to once again redefine what South Florida audiences can expect from a night at the arts. Stay tuned.

That is Mike Eidson’s courtroom and his canvas. And the most compelling case he has ever made may still be unfolding.

MEN of IMPACT M

Fundó Amedex — American Medical Express — con un eslogan audaz: “Don’t leave home without us.”

Mike Carricarte Sr. is not a man who stumbled into greatness. A former Army Ranger and Green Beret, he carried the discipline and precision of nearly three decades of military service into the business world — and built one of the most unlikely success stories in American entrepreneurship. He identified a market no one wanted, built a company that served over a million clients across 42 countries, and sold it to a global giant for more than $100 million. Today, at 83, he watches his sons carry that legacy forward — and considers it his finest work yet.

He does not romanticize his beginnings — he states them plainly, the way a man does when he has long since made peace with where he started.

“It’s amazing what a guy who barely got out of high school can do,” he says. “Work hard, think hard, and good things happen to you.”

After nearly three decades in the Army — as both a Ranger and a Green Beret — Carricarte emerged with something most business schools cannot teach: an instinct for discipline, a tolerance for risk, and an absolute refusal to be deterred. One mentor left a mark that never faded.

“My ROTC officer told me, ‘If you want to be the best, you’ve got to hang around the best.’ When I got out of college, I had no money to report to Fort Benning. My colonel said, ‘Get a sign and stand on U.S. 1.’ So, I did. Veterans, strangers — people stopped. I raised $700. That was the greatest lesson I ever had.”

THE MARKET NO ONE WANTED

When Carricarte left the Army, a friend introduced him to insurance — and he immediately spotted what no one else in the industry was looking at.

“In those days, Latin Americans couldn’t get international insurance — they were considered unstable, too risky,” he explains. “I said, ‘That’s my market.’”

He founded Amedex — American Medical Express — with a bold slogan: Don’t leave home without us. It earned him a cease-and-desist and a million-dollar lawsuit from American Express. He got on television. The story spread.

“It was the best publicity I ever had. They called and said, ‘Change the logo, and we can live with it.’ I changed it — and kept rolling.”

Amedex became a lifeline for Latin American clients shut out of the international insurance market — eventually serving more than one million people across 42 countries. When Bupa

acquired the company for over $100 million, it validated everything he had built. But the story did not end there.

LEGACY IN MOTION

The sale to Bupa was lucrative — and a masterclass in what happens when corporate culture collides with human-centered business. “They wrecked it. Our company was run by women — divorced women, barely getting by, no credit. We financed everything for them. Bupa came in and said our people didn’t have college degrees. I said, ‘They don’t need college degrees.”

After five years, he reclaimed half the business and rebuilt. Today, that foundation lives on through Olé Life — a fully digital life insurance platform built by his sons that reimagines access to coverage across Latin America with AI-driven tools and simplified underwriting. “I opened the door to a market others ignored,” he says. “They’re walking through it with technology I don’t fully understand — but I got in a Tesla the other day, and I don’t understand that either. But I’m using it.” His eldest son serves as CEO; the second designed a Coast Guard card clearance system that transformed how cruise ships are processed at port — and sold it for a fortune. “My legacy is ensuring these guys surpass me. And I love that.”

THE SECRET

Ask Mike Carricarte Sr. for the secret to his success, and he does not hesitate. “Figure out what makes people happy — that’s it.” It is a philosophy he lives daily, rooted in values instilled by the nuns of St. Joseph who raised him. His family sponsors inner-city and Catholic schools in Florida City, and at a recent mayoral celebration, he announced that any child who wants to attend a private school will have it paid for.

“The nuns taught me that giving is the most selfish act in the world — because the more you give, the more you get.”

A GREAT RIDE

When asked about his greatest moment as a father, he does not point to a business triumph. He points to a birthday.

“They all gathered around me and said, ‘Dad, thank you. It’s been a great ride.’ And I thought: I made it.”

Mike Carricarte Sr. opened doors that did not exist. He built companies, raised sons, served his country, and gave back to his community — not for recognition, but because anything less was never an option. That is the difference between success and significance. And that is what defines a Top Man.

“Space is not only physical. It is a tool for creating opportunity and accelerating the connections that move the world.” — Moishe Mana

How Moishe Mana Is Turning the Heart of Miami Into the Economic Engine of a Continent

For decades, Miami was a gateway. A point of arrival. The place where Latin America met American soil and stopped. But that story no longer captures what this city is becoming — and few have grasped it with as much clarity, or bet on it with as much conviction, as Moishe Mana.

At the center of that transformation is the Flagler District. And what Mana is building there goes far beyond square footage.

MORE THAN BRICK AND MORTAR

“My vision for this district is not about real estate. It is structural,” says Mana. “It is about building an ecosystem where business, creativity, and innovation do not simply coexist — they amplify each other.”

With more than 75 properties in the area — including the recent acquisition of One Downtown — Mana Common is quietly assembling one of the most ambitious urban development platforms in the country. But Mana is the first to acknowledge it: buildings alone do not transform cities. Ideas do. People do. And the systems that grow within them. That conviction gave rise to Mana Common — a platform that weaves together real estate, technology, fashion, and culture into a single living organism.

A DISTRICT WITH A SOUL

The transformation of the Flagler District already has a face. The Nikola Tesla Tower rises as a new landmark. Public art interventions with acclaimed artist

René Mäkelä are reshaping the streetscape. Culinary and cultural partnerships are breathing new energy into a historic corridor.

“This is not about revitalizing spaces,” Mana clarifies. “It is about creating identity.”

MIAMI: THE TECHNOLOGICAL BRIDGE OF THE AMERICAS

Through Mana Tech, the platform has become a launchpad for Latin American startups seeking to scale globally — generating capital and opportunity from Miami outward across the continent. For Mana, technology is not an isolated sector. It is the connective tissue linking two economies that were always meant to work together.

No other city in the United States shares the language, culture, and economic ties with Latin America that Miami does. That is not a coincidence — it is an advantage that must be built, cultivated, and sustained with real infrastructure. “Attracting investment is not enough,” he says. “You have to build the infrastructure to sustain it.”

THE NEXT CHAPTER

What Mana is building transcends any single project. It is a platform for the next generation of growth across the hemisphere — where culture is an economic engine, technology an enabler, and urban development does not respond to the present but anticipates the future.

Miami is no longer simply where the United States begins. In the hands of men like Moishe Mana, it is becoming where the future of the Americas starts.

Transforming

Jorge Padilla grew up in Spain, came to the U.S. on a tennis scholarship — winning three conference titles at Winthrop University — and walked through the door of what was then The Lubitz Financial Group in 2007 as a 22-year-old intern. Nearly eighteen years later, he owns the firm. Now called Meira Wealth, it's a fee-only, independent RIA based in Coral Gables that serves around 200 families with nearly $300 million in assets.

Founded more than three decades ago by Linda Lubitz Boone, Meira is a rare thing in financial services: a multigenerational boutique with genuine continuity. Padilla has contributed to the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and the Miami Herald; holds coursework and certifications from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business; and has led the Financial Planning Association of both Florida and Miami. His current obsession is the intersection of blockchain technology and the future of financial services.

In an exclusive interview with Hola Latinos Magazine, Padilla spoke about what sets real advice apart from the rest, what most investors still get wrong, and where the industry is headed.

What does Meira Wealth do that a wirehouse or robo-advisor can’t replicate? We know our clients — deeply, and holistically. A wirehouse advisor manages hundreds of relationships with a sales target overhead. A robo-advisor doesn’t know you exist. We serve around 200 families, so when something changes in your life, we’re already thinking about what it means for your plan. We also measure success differently: not in assets under management, but in what I call return on life. Does your money reflect what matters to you? Are you sleeping at night? We’re building something to last — for our clients, their children, maybe their grandchildren.

How are you positioning portfolios today — and what risk isn’t getting enough attention?

I don’t spend much time predicting the market, and most investors shouldn’t either. We build globally diversified portfolios across bonds, stocks, real estate, and alternatives — investments with an evidence-based reason to be profitable over time, calibrated to each client’s circumstances. The risk I worry about most is what I call concentration blindness. A handful of AI-driven names are powering most index returns right now. Most investors think they’re diversified. They’re not. It looks smart while those stocks rise. It may not be in a few years.

What is the single most costly mistake wealthy families make?

Making decisions in isolation. The estate attorney drafts a trust without talking to the financial advisor. The CPA does tax planning without knowing the investment strategy. The result is a financial life held together with duct tape — strategies that contradict each other, avoidable tax bills, and estate plans that don’t reflect what the family actually wants. At Meira, we see ourselves as integrators. We don’t do everything, but we make sure everything connects.

Where does wealth management go from here?

We’ll see a bifurcation. AI will handle portfolio construction, rebalancing, and taxloss harvesting — all at a low cost and at scale. That’s not a threat to firms like ours; it frees us to focus on what technology cannot do. The ability to sit with a client who just lost a spouse and help them think through what comes next can’t be reduced to an algorithm. The firms stuck in the middle, charging premium fees for commodity services, will struggle. We’re building for depth and impact, not scale. Technology will handle the transactions. We’ll handle the transformations.

How has investor psychology changed, and what do you do when fear overrides a client’s plan?

Investor psychology hasn’t changed. What’s changed is the machinery exploiting it — 24/7 news, social media, push notifications, all designed to provoke a reaction. When a client calls in a panic, my job is to slow things down and ask: “What has changed in your life? What are you really afraid of?” Often, the fear isn’t about the market at all. The best tool we have is preparation. If a client knows in advance how they’ll react to a 20% decline — because we’ve modeled it and built a plan that accounts for it — they’re far less likely to panic when it happens.

What single principle has made the biggest difference in your career?

Relentless devotion to doing the right thing for clients. I walked in as a 22-year-old intern with no clients, no credentials, no connections. Instead of chasing the largest payout or fanciest title, I chased impact — making consistent deposits in what I call the trust bank, which compounds over time. I thought you had to be the smartest person in the room to succeed. Being smart is just the price of entry. Real success comes from being the most consistent and authentic person in the room — for a very long time.

Building Impact in the World of Acoustics

The Venezuelan entrepreneur behind the growth of D&C Acoustic and some of Florida's most demanding acoustic projects.

From managing car dealerships in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, to leading high-complexity acoustic developments across Florida, César García's story is one of vision, resilience, and reinvention. After building businesses in design, advertising, and retail alongside his wife Fanny Zacarías, he emigrated to the United States in 2017 amid Venezuela's deteriorating political climate.

Starting over in Miami, he began with carpentry and furniture fabrication before finding his way into the acoustics industry — a field that quickly became a passion. He rose fast, earning a reputation for technical precision and the ability to execute complex projects. Among his most significant achievements: leading the full acoustic installation for the iconic theater at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, including the design and production of its signature suspended-ceiling cubes.

In 2023, he co-founded D&C Acoustic USA with partner Donovan Jackson, offering premium acoustic solutions that integrate design, custom fabrication, and specialized execution. The firm serves corporate offices, recording studios, private home theaters, cinemas, and large-scale commercial developments across the country.

Growth has been swift: 32 projects in 2024, 66 in 2025, and over 40 already active or completed in 2026. D&C Acoustic currently works with firms such as City Construction, Origin Construction, SkyCon Group, and JRM Construction Management, and has an active presence in Brickell, Coral Gables, Tampa, Orlando, and West Palm Beach.

Those who know César's work point to an obsession with detail and quality that sets D&C Acoustic apart — not just executing plans but elevating the technical and aesthetic standard of every project. He represents a new generation of Latin entrepreneurs who have turned discipline, experience, and vision into real, measurable growth in the American market.

My parents came to Miami from El Salvador at barely eighteen, with a dream and not much else. Like many Latino families, they built their lives around small businesses — restaurants still open today under the name El Atlacatl. That foundation is the reason I do what I do.

For years, I watched my mom run her business on paper: schedules, deliveries, payroll — all by hand. She did it well, but it cost her hours she never got back. A few years ago, I helped her go digital. Then came AI. I watched her go from drowning in paperwork to spending her evenings at home.

I come from marketing, where results took time. What drew me to AI was the speed of its impact. I review a business's daily operations, identify what can be handed off to automated systems or AI agents, and my team builds a personalized solution. A clinic I work with spent over twenty hours a month on insurance processing alone. We cut that dramatically — shorter waits, better follow-up, less paperwork.

I have been fortunate to guide friends, family, and business owners along the way, which has taken me to Univision and several podcasts. This column is the next step, and the one I am most excited about, because it brings that help to more of our community.

The biggest myth I encounter: AI is not too complicated for you, and it is not just for big tech companies. I see this fear in people I love — my parents, my aunts and uncles, the generation that built businesses from nothing. It is for them too. The tools are accessible, and those who learn to use them will have a real advantage.

Here is what I want you to do this week, and it is free: open ChatGPT or Claude and just play. Ask it to write an email or organize your schedule. The goal is not to master it — it is to get a feel for it, because once you do, the ideas come on their own. Notice the small repetitive tasks in your day. Those are usually the first things AI can take off your plate.

That is my promise: in every edition of HL Magazine, I will answer your questions and show you real ways to bring AI into your business. No hype, no jargon — just practical help from someone who learned this to help his own family first.

My parents crossed an ocean for an opportunity. The least I can do is make sure this one does not pass our community by.

MEN of IMPACT

Tomlinson Realty Group

Three Decades Selling Miami's Most Coveted Waterfront Addresses

Jeff Tomlinson, CEO of Tomlinson Realty Group, was a pilot in his early 20s. When he left the airlines and began selling luxury waterfront homes and condos in 1986, he launched a career that now spans 37 years. In his early years, he managed over 80 agents at the largest and highest-producing real estate company in Aventura throughout the 1990s. After opening his own firm in 2005, he has surpassed $1 billion in gross sales, placing him in the top 1% of realtors nationwide.

Together with his wife Kaitlin — a licensed broker and registered appraiser — they run a boutique office with 6 to 10 agents fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Russian, covering all aspects of international and residential sales and relocations. Jeff advertises aggressively, spending up to 1% of the listing price to market each property — which is why he has not had an expired listing in over 30 years.

Jeff's advice to clients: buy single-family waterfront homes, or at the very least, homes within any luxury community east of Biscayne Boulevard (US-1). Typically, these properties experience consistent appreciation, and even during market downturns, they tend to recover quickly—especially in well-established neighborhoods from the 1950s and 60s, where new development isn’t possible, leaving only options for teardowns or renovations.

The market is currently quieter than usual, with interest rates elevated and condo assessments at an all-time high due to depleted reserves due to the rising insurance costs. As we move into the winter of 2027 and current global conflicts wind down, rates are expected to ease, which should drive a meaningful increase in sales.

Familia. Valores

Purpose. Family. Values

One day, his children will ask how it all began. The answer is one thousand dollars, an unshakeable faith, and a father who refused to quit. Jorge Fajardo, J.D., is a Miami-based entrepreneur, investor, speaker, and one of the most trusted Latino voices in wealth creation. As Co-Founder and CEO of Keystone Property Investments — and the driving force behind its private equity arm, KPI Capital Partners — he has built an eight-figure portfolio spanning multifamily real estate, large-scale development, and strategic energy investment, with backers from Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. He made history as the first Latino entrepreneur to interview Sophia, the world’s most recognized humanoid robot, at the Global Family Office Investor Summit in Dubai. A regular contributor to network television, he has spent more than 20 years helping families, entrepreneurs, and professionals take control of their finances and build wealth that will outlast them.

For this special Father’s Day feature, we sat down with Jorge not to talk about deals or energy funds, but about the children watching it all unfold.

Your story is often told through success — KPI Capital, Dubai, Sophia, the Energy Fund. But if your children were telling your story one day, what part of you would you hope they remember that the public never sees?

J.F. — I hope they remember the father who loved them deeply, worked hard, and tried to lead with integrity. Behind every business decision and every risk was a simple purpose: to create a better future for the people I love.

More than anything, I hope they remember that their father lived with faith, humility, and courage — and taught them to believe in themselves, even when no one else does.

You started KPI Capital with just $1,000. What lesson do you hope your children take from that — not about money, but about courage and believing in yourself before the world believes in you?

J.F. — Success did not start with money — it started with faith and the courage to keep going when the path was uncertain. Believing in yourself matters, but staying humble enough to keep showing up matters just as much.

Never be afraid to start small. Never stop believing even when no one else does.

“Never be afraid to start small and never stop believing even when no one else does.”
— J.F.

As a father, what has building wealth taught you about what money can never replace?

J.F. — Success means very little without purpose behind it. What matters most is living with intention, staying grateful, and creating something that outlives you — not just for yourself, but for the lives you touch. That is what legacy is about.

— J.F.

Has becoming a father changed the meaning of legacy for you — from something you build in business to something you live every day at home?

J.F. — The challenges and setbacks shaped my character, taught me resilience, and reminded me to stay humble. Legacy, to me, is about changing my family’s generational trajectory — giving my children the foundation to be better than me in every way. I think that is what we all want: something more for our children than what we had for ourselves.

Who has fatherhood forced you to become? What has it taught you that business never could?

J.F. — Titles and achievements are only a small part of the story. What matters is who you become along the way and how many lives you positively impact. Victories and setbacks both carry lessons — gratitude, resilience, humility — and they remind you that purpose is always bigger than personal success.

“Purpose is always bigger than personal success.”

You’re investing in AI, clean energy, and data centers. When you look at your children, what world are you really trying to build for them?

J.F. — Never measure your life by what you accomplish — measure it by who you become and how you treat people. Dream big but stay grounded. Be ambitious, but let your purpose always be greater than your ego.

Life will test you. There will be moments when no one understands your vision. In those moments, keep your faith, protect your character, and keep going. The greatest legacy is not just what we build — it is the values and beliefs we pass to the next generation.

What is the one principle you hope your children carry forward — even if they choose a completely different path from yours?

J.F. —We are all here for a purpose — to grow, to overcome, to serve, and to leave something meaningful behind. True fulfillment comes from knowing your life created impact; that your children are stronger because of what you built, and that you helped change the trajectory of those who come after you. That is what gives life its deepest meaning.

When your children stand beside you for this Father’s Day cover, what do you want that image to say without words?

J.F. — We are all capable of more than we realize — especially when life tests us. The most defining seasons are not the easiest ones. They are the moments that shape us, strengthen us, and reveal who we truly are.

Never stop believing in what is possible. Stay true to your values, keep your faith, and remember: the greatest things we build often begin with the courage to keep going when others would quit.

Israel Tech Week Miami:

The AI Revolution Happening in Our Own Backyard

I spent last week at the recently held Israel Tech Week in Miami. I left with a clearer picture of where artificial intelligence is heading than I’ve gotten from any conference, podcast, or industry newsletter all year.

The event took place at The LAB Miami in Wynwood, drew more than 1,500 attendees, and brought in hundreds of founders and investors from Israel. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava opened the proceedings. But what stayed with me wasn’t any single panel or keynote. It was watching Miami step fully into a role it has been quietly building toward for years.

This city is becoming the bridge between Israeli innovation, Latin American capital, and the U.S. market — and it is doing so with intention. Israel has earned the “Startup Nation” designation for good reason, and more than 400 Israeli companies already call Florida home, many of them in Miami-Dade. When that level of technical talent meets Miami’s expanding investor base and its deep, historic ties to Latin America, the result is something genuinely distinct. An event of this caliber does not land here by accident. It lands because the money, the talent, and the ambition are already here.

The thread running through it all was AI — but not the AI most people are tired of hearing about.

The Israeli approach to artificial intelligence is markedly different from what dominates the conversation in Silicon Valley. These founders are not building AI to impress other technologists. They are building AI that solves one specific, painful, expensive problem — and then gets out of the way. The focus is on measurable outcomes, not momentum or narrative.

The most striking example I encountered was a company called xREI.co, which uses AI to prequalify entire residential real estate markets and surface

investment opportunities in seconds. They have automated deal screening — historically the slowest, most labor-intensive phase of real estate investing, one that has traditionally required hours of expert analysis. I sat down with their founder, Itai, at The LAB Wynwood, and one thing became unmistakably clear: the next wave of AI is not chatbots. It is vertical AI embedded so deeply into a single industry that it makes the old way of working feel not just slow, but indefensible.

That theme surfaced everywhere. Cybersecurity founders demonstrated AI that detects and responds to threats in real time, allowing security teams to stay ahead of attacks rather than perpetually react to them. PropTech founders showcased tools that simplify financing and building management for operators long bogged down by friction. Health tech founders presented AI that handles administrative tasks in clinical settings — not to replace staff, but to give them back time with patients. In every case, the pattern was identical: remove the friction, elevate the human.

For Latino business owners, this matters more than it might appear. The Israeli model — lean, focused, industry-specific AI tools built to solve real problems — is precisely the kind of opportunity our community can act on right now. You do not need to be a technology company to benefit from this. You need to understand what is possible and be willing to move.

The fact that all of this is unfolding in Miami — not New York, not San Francisco — is not a footnote. It is the story. The bridge between global innovation and our community is being built in our own backyard. The businesses that thrive over the next five years will not be those that tracked AI from a distance. They will be the ones who got in early, got specific, and got to work.

ESCAPADAS EN FLORIDA

SanAgustín:ElVerano queNoTePuedesPerder

St. Augustine: The Ancient City Has a Summer to Remember

St. Augustine is 460 years old and showing no signs of slowing down. This summer the nation’s oldest city is hosting one of the most compelling cultural calendars in Florida — and the Fourth of July has never looked quite like this.

Less than four hours north of Miami, America’s oldest city has quietly put together a summer worth planning around — chamber music inside a 250-year-old cathedral, fireworks over a Spanish colonial bayfront, and the unhurried pleasure of a city that has never needed to shout to get attention.

St. Augustine Music Festival

The St. Augustine Music Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary season this June, and the lineup is as strong as the setting. Inside the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine — one of the most breathtaking sacred spaces in the country — world-class musicians perform chamber works that fill the vaulted ceilings the way they were always meant to be filled.

The season runs through the last week of June with five concerts, each distinct in character and repertoire. On June 20th, Mozart and More opens with an intimate evening of piano quartet music featuring masterworks by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Robert Schumann — two composers at the height of their expressive powers, in a space that honors every note. The following evening, June 21st, Elegance and Fire: Masterpieces of the Classical Spirit brings works by Edvard Grieg and Joseph Haydn to the cathedral stage in a program that moves between refinement and intensity with the ease of truly great music.

On June 26th, Chamber Virtuosity: The Art of Ensemble showcases musicians performing in close collaboration — the kind of performance that reminds you why live classical music reaches places that recordings never quite can. June 27th brings 250th National Celebration: American Landscapes, a special concert honoring America’s musical heritage through works that capture the spirit, diversity, and beauty of American life. In the nation’s oldest city, as the country marks its 250th birthday, there is no more fitting place to hear it.

The season closes on June 28th with the landmark 20th Anniversary Concert — a celebration two decades in the making, bringing together distinguished artists and celebrated repertoire for an evening the festival’s loyal audiences will not soon forget.

Then on July 3rd, the festival moves outdoors to the Castillo de San Marcos itself, partnering with the National Park Service for a special open-air musical celebration that launches the Fourth of July weekend in the most historic way possible.

El4deJulio

The Fourth

St. Augustine does Independence Day the way only a city steeped in five centuries of history can. Fireworks Over the Matanzas draws thousands to the bayfront each year, and this summer — with the nation marking its 250th birthday — it carries extra weight. The All-Star Orchestra opens at 6:00 p.m. in the Plaza de la Constitución with two hours of Big Band and patriotic music. At 9:30 p.m., 5,000 shells light up the sky over Matanzas Bay in a display that rivals anything on the East Coast. The Castillo de San Marcos glows in the background. The Bridge of Lions frames the view. It is, by any measure, a night worth planning around.

The Stay

Come for a long weekend — or better yet, plan two trips and catch both the Music Festival and the Fourth. The city rewards slowness. A morning walk along the bayfront, an afternoon browsing the galleries and shops of St. George Street, dinner somewhere with a water view. The Lightner Museum, housed in the former Alcazar Hotel, could occupy an entire afternoon. The ghost tours at night are never a bad idea. The seafood is always fresh and always good.

St. Augustine is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you waited so long. Book the room. Make the drive. The Ancient City is having its moment.
