Mahatma Gandhi lo dijo perfectamente: “El día en que el poder del amor sobrepase el amor al poder, el mundo conocerá la paz”. El amor y la gratitud van mano a mano. Es muy cierto en las relaciones. Actualmente la fotografía está considerada como un arte más, esto es, la cámara fotográfica al igual que el pincel y el lienzo se ha convertido en una herramienta imprescindible para que muchos artistas expresen sus emociones. El joven fotógrafo venezolano, Gerardo Briceño, es sin dudas, a sus 22 años de edad, una de las más brillantes promesas en el mundo de la fotografía de moda. Se abre paso a nivel internacional retratando bajo su lente a las más destacadas figuras latinoamericanas en la industria del entretenimiento. Gerardo Briceño ha fotografiado a personalidades como Scarlet Ortiz, Juan Pablo Espinosa, Bebsabé Duque, Camila Canabal, Willy Martin, Ligia Pettit, Daniel Elbittar, Sabrina Seara y un sin fin de celebridades que buscan la agudeza de su ojo para ser inmortalizados por este artista visual. Briceño, quien descubrió su pasión por la fotografía a los 15 años, y quien ha cursado estudios de Comunicación Social, es un autodidacta, que ha aprendido el uso y manejo de lentes y luces por ensayo y error, descubriendo una técnica personal y única que lo separa del amplio mundo fotográfico internacional, poniéndolo en la cúspide de este competido mundo. La mega fiesta a la que solo tuvieron acceso ciertos invitados VIP fue organizada por Jorge Perez, fundador y presidente de The Related Group, desarrolladora que llevó a cabo y comercializó el emprendimiento, y Sam Nazarian, creador y CEO de Sbe, el hombre detrás de las marcas SLS y Hyde. La velada no dejó de sorprender a los asistentes con innovadores destaques como drones sobrevolando las piscinas llevando bebidas a los asistentes y la actuación estelar de el cantante pop Boy George quien ofreció un show repasando sus más conocidos hits de los años ochenta. El famoso diseñador de interiores Philippe Starck, el arquitecto Fort-Brescia y los chefs Jose Andrés y Michael Schwartz, todos piezas claves del éxito de la torre, también se hicieron presentes para el espectacular evento que dio que hablar por varias semanas. La propiedad de 55 pisos de altura, diseñada por Arquitectónica, cuenta con 124 habitaciones de hotel administradas por el grupo Sbe y 450 residencias de condominios que fueron adquiridas por compradores provenientes mayoritariamente de Sudamérica. Los residentes de SLS Brickell y los huéspedes del hotel tienen acceso a múltiples amenidades y servicios, como un espectacular gimnasio, tres piscinas, bar al aire libre, una sala de proyección privada y salón de juegos, además de un amplio espacio para eventos. En el piso 10 se encuentra Ciel Spa, el cual ofrece todo tipo de tratamientos de belleza y relajación. La terraza ha sido reservada para uso exclusivo de los propietarios e inquilinos que habitan el área residencial de la torre, desde donde se puede nadar en una tranquila piscina con vistas panorámicas de Brickell, Downtown y la bahía, disfrutar la puesta del sol o de una velada romántica desde las alturas.
El inconfundible estilo de Philippe Starck es protagonista en cada esquina y principalmente en los sectores sociales y habitaciones del hotel, en donde sus originales e inesperadas piezas han sido colocadas estratégicamente a lo largo del complejo denotando ese toque alternativo y moderno que caracteriza al diseñador. En tanto la fachada exterior capta la atención inmediata de todos los transeúntes por su vibrante y colorido mural de 40,000 pies cuadrados, obra del artista alemán Markus Linnenbrink. Por su lado la artista suiza Katja Loher llevó a cabo una fascinante instalación de seis videos que se encuentran ubicados sobre el techo en el ingreso vehicular del edificio, una distinción de bienvenida a los visitantes que inmediatamente levantan su cabeza para admirar las imágenes proyectadas. La gastronomía es otro plato fuerte del SLS Brickell, que por primera vez en Miami ha logrado reunir bajo un mismo techo a dos chefs ganadores del prestigioso premio culinario James Beard Award: Jose Andrés y Michael Schwartz. Jose Andres, opera como director gastronómico del hotel y recientemente acaba de abrir las puertas de “Bazaar Mar” en sus instalaciones, un amplio e imponente restaurante especializado en frutos del océano complementado por sus orígenes españoles, y cierto enfoque en la cocina de Miami y el Caribe. El sitio es un deleite en estilo y decoración obra de diseño interior by Starck que vale la pena visitar. Bazaar Mar es el segundo restaurante en Miami de Jose Andres, quien lleva con éxito “The Bazaar” en el SLS South Beach. Por su parte, el reconocido chef y empresario Michael Schwartz, incursiona por primera vez con un restaurante italiano localizado al lado del lobby del hotel. Fi’lia se encuentra abierto durante el desayuno, almuerzo, cena y también sirve aperitivos por la tarde. De su horno de barro salen las más exquisitas pizzas naturales, sus panes y pastas son producidos in situ utilizando mayoritariamente productos naturales provenientes de granjas locales. Su luminoso salón, otro proyecto ideado por Starck, es cálido y acogedor, invitando a quedarse por horas tanto en su barra como en las numerosas mesas dispersas en su interior.

Superyachts It’s no secret that superyachts are pricey. It’s a hobby for the rich and famous for sure. The world’s largest private vessel, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Azzam, reaches an astounding 180 meters (590 feet) and cost $600 million to build. The annual upkeep costs can also reach into the seven figures. Gas prices, general maintenance, taxes and crew salaries are typically the biggest sources of added expenditure for owners. Towergate estimates that annual dockage fees run for $350,000, insurance averages $240,000 and maintenance and repairs can be in the millions, as can crew salaries. Gas prices for example for a a 71-meter yacht using 500 liters of diesel few per hour, can cost around $400,000 per year.

Descubrí este lugar en las fiestas pasadas y lo encontré especialmente pacífico, súper limpio y sencillamente hermoso. Una vía totalmente saludable de vivir que ofrece a los vacacionistas un gran lugar para desintoxicarse de las vidas agitadas. Caminar es de hecho el pasatiempo favorito aquí.
Es perfecto para un tranquilo escape romántico y especialmente grandioso para aquellos con niños. Si te gusta pasear en bicicleta, nadar, ver el atardecer con hogueras en la playa, y todo a distancias que se pueden caminar, te encantará Seaside y los niños disfrutaran la libertad de la que pueden gozar en esta segura comunidad.

Esta mezcla la frotas por tus labios friccionando suavemente, lo que va a exfoliar tus labios removiendo cualquier residuo de piel muerta y activando los vasos sanguíneos lo cual estimula su regeneración, luego de este paso aplica cualquier bálsamo para labios o simplemente un poquito de aceite de coco. Este último se recomienda aplicar durante lo largo del día y el proceso de exfoliación se recomienda máximo dos veces por semana.

illennial, Millennial, Millennial! Is the one word we hear very often these days, especially when it has anything to do with beauty, health and fashion trends. So what exactly is a ‘Millennial’? Are you one? Am I one? Well sadly, I have to admit I am not. Millennial (also known as Generation Y, Generation Me, Echo Boomers, Peter Pan Generation) are people who are born between 1995 and 2004, making up most of our youth and currently high school students. Millennials today have a keen fashion and food sense that helps define their generation. They enjoy fueling new food trends and look for food items that are fresh, creative and made just for them. In other words, they are not interested in

their grandmother’s old fashioned meat loaf. So what better way to get a better idea of what these food trends might be than to go to the direct source? I had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Michael Krop High School who happens to be a magnet school and offers many different award-winning programs, one which happened to be the Culinary Arts. By talking to some of Dr. Michael Krop High School students about food trends, I noticed they enjoy making fashion statements and expect their choice of food to express their own personality. Ditching the three-mealsa-day standard, Millennial are reshaping how we as adults are eating whether we realize it or not. They rather choose to eat several snacks or small meals throughout the day
than your traditional 3 meals per day which by the way as a nutritionist, I advocate for. People who eat more than three times a day tend to weigh less, according to University of Massachusetts Medical School research. Plus it helps maintain your sugar levels balanced while increasing your metabolism. Burgers may still be king, but bowls are fast becoming the preferred vessel for everything from rice, noodles, and salad to quinoa, acai and poke. I can clearly see why millennials are becoming our fashion and food trendsetters. Perhaps it’s time we learn something from our younger generation.

Esto ocurre cuando la mente se considera ajena al campo de inteligencia o conciencia del cual proviene. El principal objetivo en Ayurveda es erradicar las enfermedades a través de purificar la mente y el cuerpo, de manera que alcancemos nuestro máximo potencial humano. Para lograrlo, el estrés tendrá que ser eliminado de nuestra vida diaria. Bajo estrés, nuestro corazón late más rápido; nuestra presión arterial aumenta; nuestra respiración se acelera; los niveles de azúcar en la sangre aumentan; producimos cortisol y adrenalina; nuestra digestión se entorpece. No es casualidad que el estrés crónico acelera nuestro proceso de envejecimiento y nos hace más vulnerables a enfermedades más severas como padecimientos cardiacos; alta presión arterial; cáncer; ataques de pánico y ansiedad; deficiencia inmunológica; depresión; úlceras gástricas; fatiga crónica; y migrañas. Una de las prácticas más efectivas para reducir el estrés es la meditación. Su práctica cotidiana ayuda a superar turbulencias, reducir el estrés, la fatiga y la agitación emocional. La meditación nos hace experimentar nuestra conciencia pura, en quietud. Al meditar, nuestras reacciones corporales son exactamente opuestas a aquellas del estrés: nuestra respiración se vuelve más lenta, la presión arterial disminuye y los niveles de hormonas de estrés se ven reducidos. Tomarse el tiempo para aquietar la mente ayuda a estar más centrado y equilibrado en situaciones donde las cosas no salen como queremos. Cuando respondemos conscientemente, en lugar de sólo reaccionar, satisfacemos nuestras necesidades más efectivamente. Yo siempre recomiendo a mis clientes tomarse entre 15 a 30 minutos por la mañana y por la tarde, para cerrar los ojos y sólo enfocarse en su respiración. Pueden alternar esta práctica con sentir los latidos del corazón y practicar agradecimiento. Esta es una técnica simple pero muy efectiva que practicada diariamente, puede convertirse en la mejor medicina para equilibrar tu salud y tu vida. No wonder why chronic stress accelerates aging and makes us more vulnerable to serious illness, including heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, panic attacks, immune deficiency, depression, stomach ulcers, chronic fatigue, and migraines. One of the most effective stress-relieving practices is meditation. A regular practice helps you go beyond turbulence, releasing stress, fatigue, and emotional turmoil. Meditation gives you the experience of pure, restful awareness. As you meditate, the bodily reactions are exactly the opposite of the stress response: your breathing slows, blood pressure decreases, and stress hormone levels fall. Taking time to quiet your mind will enable you to stay more centered and balanced when things do not go the way you want. When you respond consciously, rather than reacting angrily, you more effectively meet your needs. I always recommend my clients to take between 15 to 30 minutes every morning and every late afternoon to close your eyes and focus on the breathing, alternating with feeling the heart beat and practice gratitude. This is a simple but effective technique that with regular practice, could become your best medicine to balance your health and your life. 1) ¡¡Ya cumplen 17 años juntos!! Se dice fácil, pero nos imaginamos que ¡contarlo no tanto! ¿Cuál es el secreto de ustedes como pareja, una de las más consolidadas del espectáculo? Scarlet: bueno pues si tenemos ya diecisiete años juntos. Para el tiempo que estamos viviendo está difícil, que una pareja dure tanto, ¿no? lamentablemente creo que se ha perdido un poco esto de las uniones largas, ¿no? Pero en nuestro caso, bueno nos ha ido muy bien, ¡todavía! Yul: Fíjate que siempre me preguntan cuál es el secreto, y siempre digo algo diferente, porque en realidad no existe un secreto, yo creo que existe el deseo de querer hacer algo, y Dios te lo da, Dios nos dio esta relación, esa hermosa niña que anda por ahí….nosotros tenemos el deseo de estar juntos y Dios nos dijo “ahí va, ahora aguanten” jajaja… Scarlet: Siento que últimamente se ha perdido mucho la tolerancia en las parejas, una vez una señora me dijo, “antes, cuando algo se dañaba uno lo arreglaba y seguía usándolo”, y yo creo que igual con las parejas, si hay algún problemita yo creo que hay que conversarlo y seguir adelante. Tiene mucho que ver con la tolerancia, con la paciencia, con las ganas, y últimamente, sí, hay una falta de tolerancia muy grande, y ya cuando se da la primera discusión o el primer percance, pues ya hay una separación, y no…se trata de entenderlo, de hablarlo y ver que somos dos personas distintas viviendo juntas y tratando de acoplarse, de llevar las vicisitudes de la vida, y con una hija más. 2) Siempre hemos sabido a través de los medios que no le dan mucha importancia al matrimonio… ¿eso ha cambiado? ¿Algún día veremos a Scarlet vestida de novia en la vida real? ¿Y a Yul esperándola en el altar? Scarlet: ¡No sabemos todavía! Yul: Es que ya tenemos 17 años juntos, conviviendo, se hace difícil, hace unos años decíamos, el día que nos casemos se va a empavar la relación…Hoy en día ya no, yo creo que ya hemos pasado muchos niveles como pareja y si se da, si esa niña lo pide, la complacemos. 3) Si retrocedemos unos años atrás, ¿qué cambiarías, si hubiese hecho esto o aquello? Scarlet: no…es que no lo sé. Yo siento que todo lo que hemos vivido, ha sido por un motivo, porque así lo quiso Dios, el destino, el universo, y por algo, yo siento que todo tiene una razón en esta vida, y si a Yul y a mí nos ha tocado pasar por distintas etapas, ¡es porque así tenía que ser! y tal vez por eso y debido a eso, es que estamos hoy aquí. Así que ¡lo que está bien, no se toca! 4) Yul ¿cómo equilibras la familia, la actuación, la esposa que también es actriz, tu vida personal, todo? Mira no es fácil…Yo creo que uno tiene que tratar de soltarse, que tampoco es fácil soltarse, ante la vida. Yo soy muy de familia, me preocupo no solamente por mi hija y mi esposa que son mi familia, construida por mí, sino por mi padre, por mi madre, mis hermanos, siempre estoy muy atento de que las cosas siempre estén bien… como un buen libra siempre estoy tratando de buscar el balance de todo… O sea, trato de darle un poquito a cada quien. Yo me entrego por completo a cada una de las cosas que quiero, pero no las uno por completo. Lo bueno es que nosotros nos entendemos perfectamente porque somos del medio, y lejos de ser un problema, nosotros no… Más bien nos apoyamos, nos damos la mano. 5) ¿En alguna oportunidad ha habido algún roce, por alguna novela o algo por el tema de profesión, entre ustedes dos? Scarlet: No. No porque como lo dijo Yul ahorita, nosotros, primero nos respetamos mucho nuestro espacio, y segundo respetamos la profesión que tenemos, los dos somos actores, conocemos el horario y el oficio, entonces al contrario, él me apoya y yo lo apoyo. Por ejemplo ayer yo tenía una serie de entrevistas en un hotel y le digo “mi vida me dieron habitación, me voy esta noche, me quedo en la noche para mañana estar todo el día, y así descanso” y él me dice: “¡Claro! Vete. No hay ningún problema” Y él se encarga de Bárbara, de llevarla al colegio, hacerle desayuno…y eso es muy importante… entonces ese apoyo que influye en nuestra profesión, igual a mí me pasa con él. Si él tiene que viajar o hacer algo, yo voy a estar ahí. 6) Algún papel que le hayan dado a ustedes que no le haya agradado al otro…. Scarlet: ¡Yul no ve escenas de amor! Él decidió hace muchos años no ver mis escenas de amor. Yul: yo lo que no veo son las escenas de cama. Ahora veo un besito, pero cuando son escenas de cama no. La gente siempre me había visto con cara de buena, muy dulce, me veían muy dulce y les encantaba verme llorar, pero ahora si vengo con un papel de villana. En “La Fan”. Ahora comienza. ¡Ya me tocaba!

8) ¿Y la comedia? ¿Cómo te has sentido haciendo este papel de villana con ese giro de comicidad? El hecho de estar haciendo el papel de villana en una comedia, se me ha hecho ¡muy divertido!, pero sumamente divertido. Porque hago mis maldades y ñaca, ñaca, ¡bien exagerado!, porque es una comedia muy exagerada y subida de tono, pero al mismo tiempo ella ha sido víctima de ella misma, de su ego, porque interpreto a una actriz con un ego enorme, entonces esto es una especie de crítica a el medio de la actuación, de cómo los actores a veces nos dejamos dominar por el ego. He venido durante no sé cuántos años siendo la que llora, ahora ¡me toca a mí hacer llorar a la protagonista! 9) Hace unos instantes escuchábamos a tu niña cantar, que le encanta cantar. ¿Les gustaría a ustedes, como padres que esta profesión tan difícil sea seguida por Bárbara? O ¿preferirían una carrera tradicional? Yul: Yo no quiero guiarle a ella una vida. Yo quiero que ella decida su camino ella sola. Si ella mañana quiere ir a la universidad, haremos todo lo posible porque vaya a la universidad, como tambien si quiere ser actriz o bailarina… Scarlet: yo pienso que lo importante es que ella sea feliz. The Salmon Platter, house citrus-cured salmon, cucumber, tomato, capers, and red onion, served with bagel and cream cheese looks terrific. Seafood lovers can enjoy Blue Point Oysters and they have a Seafood Sampler featuring shrimp cocktail, 6 oysters and 2 stone crabs. Definitely on that bucket list! There are a number of specialty cocktails but I loved their Juniper-- a Puree of cucumber and yellow bell pepper, Hendrix gin, St. Germain and lime with a cumin rim. It’s very refreshing and I guess you can say on the healthy side minus the booze, no? On my list of top favorite drinks right now.
As an avid “Sunday Bruncher,” I can definitely say that this is a great spot to get together with family and friends on the weekend. They have a well-rounded brunch menu that offers everything from salads and starters like pork-belly hash or the restaurant’s popular fried calamari to entrees like a vegetable frittata, cheddar chorizo frittata, steak and eggs, salmon eggs Benedict and the scrumptious lobster eggs Benedict--my favorite: The lobster Benedict comes with lobster chucks, two poached eggs over a polenta cake, asparagus, and hollandaise sauce. Aside from the freshness and quality of the lobster, the polenta is a perfect combination as it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the lobster—it’s divine. My second favorite: the Lobster, roll. Fresh Maine lobster (makes all the difference in flavor), mayonnaise, siracha, celery, cilantro, truffle fries. The picture below says a thousand words. The Mahi tacos are delicious too. Fresh caught Mahi, corn tortilla, tomato, poblano peppers, red onions, ancho chili aioli. Nice portion too. Now being the foodie that I am, I looked around and saw some amazingly prepared dishes that I have on my bucket list to try: Shrimp & Grits--creamy polenta, shrimp, crispy bacon, chives, and gravy. I’ve tried the polenta here before and it’s superb so, this should be an outstanding dish. Very popular is the Juniper BLT made with thick-cut bacon, arugula, plum tomato, and Dijon aioli served on a toasted brioche bun. Afrodisíaco: Maracuyá o fruto de la pasión • 1 ½ oz de licor de tequila • 2 rodajas de lima • 5 frambuesas • Jugo de maracuyá • 1 chorrito de licor Chambord
Afrodisíaco: fresa 1 1/2 tazas de agua fría 1 taza de jugo de naranja 2 cucharadas de jugo de limón 30 fresas congeladas 2 tazas de hielo Sal para escarchar 1 limón 177 ml de tequila
Coctel de Chocolate
Preparación: Coloca todos los ingredientes en una coctelera con hielo y agita enérgicamente. Cuela en una copa de cóctel con el borde previamente sumergido en chocolate y espolvorea con cacao en polvo.

Preparación: Machaca la lima junto con las frambuesas en un vaso alto. Añade el licor de tequila y completa el trago con el jugo. Vierte un chorrito de Chambord y lleva toda la preparación a una coctelera con hielo. Agita enérgicamente hasta que esté bien fría, cuela y vierte el cóctel en el vaso.
Preparación: Licuar todos los ingredientes excepto el limón y la sal. Hasta formar una mezcla homogénea. Escarchar las copas martineras poniendo en un plato suficiente sal y mojando con el limón la orilla del vaso para que se pegue la sal. Vertir la mezcla en los vasos escarchados y servir.

The Flamingo Ball, named after the beautiful birds that inhabit Hialeah Park’s infield lake, was first held in 1965 on the eve of the Flamingo Stakes horse race at the racetrack. This year’s lavish pink social confection paid tribute to when Hialeah Park first opened for horseracing in January 1925, with a roaring twenties theme. In the ‘70s the gleaming gala grew into one of the most glamorous and legendary parties in Miami attended by the rich and famous, powerful families, dignitaries, city and government leaders, equestrians and socialites. PUCKERING UP WITH YOUR PET Do you like to smooch your pooch and kiss your kitty? Sometimes people who are sick and or elderly should refrain from puckering up with their pets until they recover. Actually the millions of kisses received over the years from your pet builds your immunity from getting an infection. My Mommy loves her cats sandpaper slobbery kisses. It’s best to know where your pets have been you wouldn’t want a puppy or kitty kiss after we were Sherlock Holmes sniffing in not too fragrant places. Make sure your pets do not have an infection and their snouts and whiskers are all clear of unsanitary residue. Dogs and humans have a lot of bacteria in their mouths. It’s very rare to become sick, however humans can get parasites like hookworm, roundworm and giardia through dogs licking. Salmonella also. A virus such as a cold cannot be transmitted either way. If you have an open wound you really should not let your pet kiss you’re boo boo. During the time of ancient Egypt people believed that their dogs licking their wounds would heal quicker. Research now suggests that dog saliva may have antimicrobial properties. Dog saliva contains Lysozyme, Histatins and a
protein Nerve growth factor all three that kills certain bacteria, prevents overgrowth in the mouth and cuts healing time. The movement of a dog lick could also be instrumental in healing wounds as it loosens any debris that may be on the surface of the wound and attach to the saliva cleansing the area of the wound. King Tut may have been short of a wound care doctor however your dog’s saliva is not always beneficial. Cats and dogs mouths contain a bacteria called Pasteurella that could cause a skin infection called cellulitis in humans if transmitted onto a wound. Not to rain on your pet puckering parade but there are circumstances whereby one could become infected with Capnocytophaga Canimorus, a bacteria found in the mouths of cats and dogs. This can cause amputations once the infection has spread. If your pet’s saliva was as magical as the Egyptian pyramids I am sure it would have been bottled up by now and sold to big Pharma. I don’t care on Valentine’s Day I will be giving or should I charge for my puppy kisses after all I was a Valentine’s Day puppy present. A little pucker never hurt anybody.
