Agenda of the Senate Hofstra University Student Government Association March 27, 2025 Hofstra University Call to order Meeting Called to order at 6:51pm EST A. Quorum Call a. Quorum set to 27 B. New Business a. Senator Finklestein moves to open the gallery i. Motion seconded ii. Motion passed b. WELCOME SAAC! i. President Claire: Student Athletic Advisory Committee is geared towards making college fun and creating community, morale, and comradery for student athletes. Some teams practice 40 hours a week, and on top of that they have their class load and any other extracurriculars. We want to make sure students have things other than sports to enjoy. We have fundraisers, spikeball and pickleball tournaments, and more. Usually, the money goes towards other SAAC events, or we donate to charity. We have to get 4,000 community service hours within our organization, and we have events like Pie your Coach and Beach cleanup. We show up to each other's games, called “Pride Cup,” to make sure we are all supported. We have awards at the end of each year to encourage participation. ii. Secretary Jackson: Of course, morale is a big part, but I like to think that we are the SGA for the athletes. We advocate for them. All schools have a SAAC for their athletic teams. Athletes bring concerns to us, maybe coach issue or playing times, and we help get things done. iii. Senator Finklestein: What can SGA do to you? 1. President Claire: We really want people to come out to our games. We know we aren’t a big sport school compared to some bigger ones, but we want to start building partnerships and themed events
