Agenda of the Senate Hofstra University Student Government Association March 13, 2025 Hofstra University Call to order ​ Meeting Called to order at 6:54 pm EST A.​ Quorum Call a.​ Quorum set to 28 B.​ New Business a.​ Judicial Panel Report i.​ Chief Justice Bowles: Thank you for having me tonight. I am Sara, the chief justice of the judicial panel. I will be giving you our decision based off a report that we received regarding a senatorial action from your last meeting. The opinion will be made to all of you in the manner decided by the executive board. The complete set of decisions and opinions will be attached to the minutes. After careful deliberation and discussion, including the final stance of each justice, that SA.2025.89.020 - Election SA PS is affirmed as constitutional as written. Upon our review, the argument presented to us did not cite a specific area of the constitution in which we could compare to the removed clause. Upon a lengthy discussion, the majority feels that there is not enough substantial evidence to rule this change unconstitutional. This change to the Policy Series follows precedent, and does not specifically counter any of our interpretations of the Constitution, including that of those that stood prior to this amendment. During the Senate meeting on March 6th, 2025, multiple changes were made that made this change consistent with the Constitution. Please refer to the entirety of the attached opinion document for specific areas of this action, the Policy Series, and Constitution that the justices utilized in order to come to this conclusion, including but not limited to the specific rules regarding total eligibility of this action and its changes. ii.​ We suggest, if any further concerns around this matter arise, proposing senatorial actions and/ or constitutional amendments concerning the
