Agenda of the Senate Hofstra University Student Government Association February 27, 2025 Hofstra University Call to order ​ Meeting Called to order at 6:56pm EST A.​ Quorum Call a.​ b.​ Quorum set to 27 B.​ New Business a.​ Senator Projects Presentations i.​ Thomas Callahan: Restoring RSR Opportunities 1.​ Chair Jacob: You mentioned interviewing and getting the RAs involved, can you elaborate? a.​ Senator Callahan: I think the RA should be more involved in the hiring process. They have a better idea of student needs. I don’t think our current process is personal enough. 2.​ Senator Miranda: Do you know why the position was taken away before? a.​ Senator Callahan: My understanding is that the university didn’t have the budget to continue the day time RSR. I don’t think the cuts needed to be as severe as they were. My initiative is to bring some of these backs, particularly for first year students on the weekends. 3.​ President Anniballi: Why bring back RSR instead of a more meaningful student employment opportunity? a.​ Senator Callahan: Some of the non-RSR jobs are coming back. For example, the Playhouse has Ushers again for the first time since COVID. These jobs are the perfect entry level positions to gain work experience. The university should take a leading role in helping students get jobs. 4.​ Chair Young: This goes off of Lincoln’s question; my life got easier after the RSR’s were removed. Why not think of jobs you
