Provost Riordan: I have a couple of remarks but I want to keep them brief so I can hear from you all. Anything that I touch on that is on your mind, it is a great opportunity to have a conversation. I am starting my fourth year at Hofstra and my background is in chemistry. I spent 25 years before here at University of Delaware mainly as a chemistry professor and doing research with undergraduates. At Hofstra my role is all of the academic programs at Hofstra. I work with deans, faculty, and department chairs to make sure all students have opportunity to grow and expand. We are very focused on preparing you for your careers. Once you graduate from Hofstra, it is likely you will have multiple jobs and kinds of careers, which is exciting and scary. One of the things we think about a lot is that the typical student graduates around 22 years old. You will be out working and contributing to society for 40-60 years and when thinking about how to best prepare for that, it can be daunting, as we do not know what careers and jobs will look like. A study suggested by 2035 that around 70-75% of jobs that will exist then do not exist now. A majority of the jobs will look different and that presents both opportunities and challenges. We are
