Processing Black Skin in Film and Through Film

Professor Dorsett will present findings from Tone s, a practice-based study of exposure and lighting approaches for filming Black skin, grounded in interviews with industry professionals and controlled lighting tests. The discussion frames cinematography and color science as social justice concerns.

Sekiya R. Dorsett is a GLAAD Award-winning filmmaker and assistant professor of Radio, Television, Film at Hofstra University whose work centers on Black queer and Caribbean stories through documentary, hybrid, and experimental forms.
