Historically, NOAH Scholars have proven to be leaders – young adults of distinction who are committed to academic excellence. NOAH Scholars have made major contributions both to the Hofstra University community and to the surrounding communities through their participation in outreach programs. By promoting academic excellence and community service, the NOAH Scholars program instills social, political, and cultural awareness in our students, as it continues to mean a new day for our students and our community.

Hofstra University’s commitment to diversity is reflected in its more than 50-year commitment to the NOAH Scholars program, the original model for New York state’s Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program.

The words of abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass capture the spirit and character of NOAH Scholars, who are among Hofstra’s most distinguished students, campus leaders, community advocates, and alumni.
