Hello Commuting Students,
Events From Our Office Campus Events Commuting Student Fun Fact With all of the snowy, icy conditions, sometimes your car may get stuck in all of the ice, especially in an ill-plowed parking space. Here are some tips to remember if you find your car is stuck in ice or snow:
1. Do not spin your wheels. This will only dig you in deeper. 2. Turn your wheels from side to side a few times to push snow out of the way. 3. Use a light touch on the gas, to ease your car out. 4. Use a shovel to clear snow away from the wheels and the underside of the car.

We have some exciting events happening that you don't want to miss. Be sure to check out our atrium table on Tuesday, February 25th from 1-2:30 p.m. during P.R.I.D.E. week to take a pledge not to text and drive! You may want to bring your running shoes to school on Tuesday, March 4th from 4-5 p.m. as we will be hosting the Commuter Cardio hour at the Mack Fitness Center! We have these events and more below in this edition of the Commuter Connection Newsletter!

OTHER CAMPUS EVENTS
The Division of Student Affairs is sponsoring the fourth annual Hofstra P.R.I.D.E. Week, February 24 - 28, 2014 as they strive to promote Hofstra's P.R.I.D.E. Principles and encourage students to graduate with P.R.I.D.E. Throughout the week, there will be a large number of opportunities for students to get involved and learn more about the P.R.I.D.E. Principles. Each day of the week will represent a letter of P.R.I.D.E. and students are encouraged to attend as many events as possible. Events

The Career Center is hosting some very useful workshops and events later in February. Check them out! Film/TV Workshop This interactive workshop will focus on careers and internships in the film and television industry. Come network with and learn from panelists working in the television and film industry who will cover topics including how to behave on a set, walkie-talkie terminology, and a typical day on set and in the production office! Wednesday, February 26 at 7:00pm in Breslin Hall Room 100 Skills-Based Panel with Zarb Alumni: "What is Business Communication?" The importance of written and verbal communication skills for success in business will be discussed by Zarb Alumni that are currently business professionals. See what it takes to follow in their footsteps! This event is open to undergraduate Zarb students only. Tuesday, February 25 from 5:00pm-6:00pm in The Career Center Mock Interview Nights for Zarb Students Students will be able to participate in a practice 30-minute interview with a Zarb Alumnus. Pre-registration on Pride-CMS is required for this event. This event is open to undergraduate Zarb students only. Tuesday, February 25 from 6:30pm-8:30pm in The Career Center Wednesday, March 26 from 6:30pm-8:30pm in The Career Center

PRIDE Week Social Media Makeovers Express your social media self! Check out The Career Center table as a part of P.R.I.D.E. Week and have your social media profiles reviewed by a career counselor to ensure the effective free exchange of your personal virtual brand! You will receive tips and advice from career professionals on your personal profiles, and have the opportunity to be photographed for a professional headshot to use on your social media accounts including LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter!
