It is with deep appreciation and admiration that we announce the well-deserved retirement of Dr. Pete Favini, whose dedication has touched countless lives over his 43-year career as an Emergency Medicine physician and leader.
Dr. Favini embarked on his medical career at the Temple University Medical School and completed his residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Emergency Medicine and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
He was the Emergency Department Medical Director at Pocono Medical Center for 25 years before coming to St. Luke’s Anderson Campus in 2013, initially as a staff physician, but was quickly recognized and encouraged to return to a leadership role. In 2014, Dr. Favini was named the Network Vice-Chair of Emergency Services, a position he held until 2020. In 2016, Dr. Favini successfully opened the St. Luke's Monroe Campus Emergency Department as the Chief of Emergency Medicine and has led the team through unprecedented growth while also serving as the President of the Medical Staff at the Monroe Campus.
The impact of his work extends far beyond the walls of our hospital. As an advocate for community health, Dr. Favini has served with distinction in various roles. He has been a Medical Command Physician since 1984, an EMS Medical Director since 1988, a Pre-Hospital Physician since 2000, the Medical Director for the majority of Monroe County Ambulance Corps., the Medical Director of the Monroe and Pike County 911 Control Centers, the Medical Director for the Monroe County EMT Program, Medical Director for the Delaware Water Gap National Park Service, and has provided medical leadership for several local marathons and triathlons.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Favini has been more than a colleague he has been a leader, confidant, adviser, role model, and genuine friend to all. His unwavering commitment to excellence in medicine and compassionate care has left an indelible mark on all of those who Dr. Favini has worked with over the years, as well as the communities he has so passionately served. He has earned the respect and gratitude of patients, families, and fellow professionals alike. His legacy will continue to shape our organization and the broader medical community for years to come.
Though Dr. Favini will be greatly missed by all, we celebrate his remarkable career and wish him much happiness, health, and fulfillment as he begins this next chapter of his life.
Don Seiple President,
St. Luke's Monroe Campus
