Our ship will be passing through an international time zone at 2:00 am Monday August 18, 2025. We’ll be switching our ship’s time to one hour forward. Please remember to set your watches and devices accordingly. When in doubt, check the Royal App for the correct ship time.

Safety 1-2-3

In compliance with our Youth Evacuation Plan, children will be given colored wristbands that correspond with their muster stations. In the event of an emergency, Youth Staff will escort all children participating in Adventure Ocean activities to their muster stations for reunification with their parents/guardians.

Children’s Personal Flotation Devices (PFD)

For the safety and wellbeing of children, children’s swimming pool personal flotation devices are available free of charge at the pool deck areas. Personal flotation devices (PFDs) are for use onboard the Independence of the Seas and cannot be taken off the ship.

Animal Sighting Advisory

Occasionally, animals may find their way onboard our ships. For your safety, if you encounter any animals onboard, it is prohibited to interact with or touch them. We ask that you please report any sightings or encounters to any of our Officers or Crew.

ONBOARD EXPENSE ACCOUNT

Setting Up Your Account

If you did not set up an account during Online Check-In or during boarding in the cruise terminal, you can do so in the Royal App or at the Guest Services Desk on Deck 5. Onboard Expense Accounts can be set up with a credit card, a debit card, or cash. Our ships utilize a cashless system, so your SeaPass card will be the only way to make purchases while onboard. Please note that a temporary hold of $99.75 USD will be placed on your card to verify funds. Onboard purchases over $100 USD will generate additional holds. The hold will be released within 3 to 5 business days after your cruise ends, but can take up to 30 days, depending on your bank. You may add other guests to your expense account by visiting the Guest Services desk. A daily limit can be placed on arcade spending. All charges can be viewed in the Royal Caribbean App. Printed receipts will be provided for each onboard purchase, and a preliminary statement will be delivered to your stateroom on the last morning of your cruise. A ﬁnal statement will be e-mailed to you within 24 hours of departing the ship on the last day of your cruise. Guests on a cash account will need to settle their account at Guest Services prior to disembarking the ship.

Specialty Dining reservations can be made through the Royal Caribbean App. You may also dial [7000] on your stateroom phone and select the restaurant you wish to dine in or visit the restaurant and make a reservation with the Maitre d' outside. Continental breakfast is complimentary. Both the All-Day Menu and American Breakfast will have a delivery fee of $7.95 USD plus an 18% gratuity for each order. How much are gratuities?

If not already pre-paid, an $18.50 USD gratuity ($21.00 USD for Suite guests) is added to each guest's onboard account daily to help recognize superior service from crew during your cruise. This gratuity is shared among dining & culinary services staff, stateroom attendants, and other hotel services teams working behind the scenes. In addition to daily gratuities, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to all beverage, mini bar items, specialty dining, and spa & salon purchases.

Bruges (Zeebrugge) Port Information

The terminal (located in a building called the ABC-Tower) has a variety of services, including transportation desk, public toilets, and a security checkpoint. Walking in or out of the port is forbidden because of safety reasons as a working port. The port authorities provide a port shuttle free of charge to the cruise terminal only. There are taxis available beyond the terminal entrance. Shore Excursion tour buses wait just beyond the ship’s gangway. There is also a separate shuttle service to/from Bruges to guests who wish to go to the city. Drop off point is next to tranquil park Bargeplein, from there it's about 15-minute walk to the main street. A return ticket costs: adults $38.00 per person; children (ages 3-6) $20.00 and can be purchased onboard. Pier sales available only cash or credit cards. Infants under 3 years are free of charge. Transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.

Shore Visits For Minors

Parents or guardians: If a minor (under the age of 18) is in your care, they must have adult supervision leaving and entering the ship.

Local Port Agriculture Regulations

Local port regulations prohibit the addition or removal of agricultural items such as food, fruits, plants, flowers, sea shells, bulbs, and rocks to or from the ship.

Europe - High Volume Awareness

Ports visited often attract guests from other cruise lines and vacationers, leading to crowded sites, heavy traffic, and long lines at monuments and attractions with entrance fees. Please keep this in mind when exploring with Royal Caribbean or independently.

Skjolden, Norway Port Information:

The ship will dock in Skjolden Cruisekai Pier and it’s located approx. 1.3 km or a 18 minute walk to the center of the charming village of Skjolden, which is called the «Gateway to the national parks» due to the short distance to no less than three of the most iconic national parks in Norway – Jotunheimen, Breheimen and Jostedalsbreen. The village is a 30-minute drive from Northern Europe’s highest mountain pass, Sognefjellet Mountain Road. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of Breheimen and Jotunheimen – including the 20 highest peaks in Scandinavia. The approach is by the picturesque Lustrafjord, the innermost branch of Norway’s longest and deepest fjord – the Sognefjord. The fjord has a distinct emerald green color owing to melting water from the glaciers. Along the shoreline, you will see beautiful villages and lush cultural landscapes.

Olden, Norway Port Information

The ship will dock in Olden Cruise Pier and it’s located approx. 1 km or a 15 minute walk on the right to the center of the village where you will find shops and amenities, tourist information, a small cafe and numerous souvenir shops. This port is well known for it’s outdoors, access to the Briksdal and Kjenndalen Glaciers, you can take a trolley train ride around the town or enjoy the view from the Skylift Cable Car.

The cruise port in Haugesund is located on the small island of Risøy that is attached to the mainland and downtown Haugesund by the Risøy Bridge. The ship will dock at the pier Garpeskjær 2, approximately 15 minute walk from the downtown. Haugesund is one of the best places you'll find to explore the Viking period, regarded as the home of Viking kings for centuries. The city has a lot of cafés, museums, galleries, and attractive streetscapes. Taxi’s are available outside the ship.

As part of the UK Government's mission to protect the food sector and farmers, there are new emergency rules to protect the country from the threat of foot and mouth disease (FMD). While FMD poses no threat to humans, it is a highly contagious livestock disease that could devastate farm businesses, food security and the wider economy. The UK Government have significantly stepped up bio–security measures to protect from the risk of a potential outbreak. Individuals found violating these rules by bringing food, plants and meat back from abroad could face severe penalties, including fines of up to £5,000 in England.

Dry Off and Drop Off

Don’t forget to return your pool towels back to the designated Towel Station when you’re done! A $25 replacement fee will be charged to your SeaPass card for each unreturned towel.
