To achieve success in today’s market, each project must be approached with a focus on balancing scope, quality, and budget as well as creative planning. To achieve this objective, the owner’s participation in the design process is critical. Our design team knows buildings, but only those who manage and operate your existing facilities on a daily basis know every detail of how a new facility will be used. In a dynamic process, we combine your ideas and knowledge about your operation with our expertise and vision of design. The result is a solution that is strategic, affordable, and comprehensive

The Hobbs+Black Interior Design Studio has an award-winning portfolio exhibiting projects from a diverse group of clients that span several business sectors Our ability to successfully resolve and surpass the goals of our clients stems from our approach.

t’s the pizza principle: don’t have meetings arger than you can feed with one pizza Trust & efficiency trend as a result

Bigger ideas in rougher layouts, weeks sooner, results in deeper collaboration.

We believe people must feel something efore they do something It’s why we wrap strategic messages with emotional truth

When you add these people-powered omponents together, your project flies with less jet fuel

trategy should be based on human truths, roject pllars and applied with simplicity

The existing lower-level weight room was repurposed for a new band room, requiring a new addition to relocate the weightlifting space.
Hobbs+Black collaborated with athletic staff to design an accessible, efficient addition with direct access to athletic fields and locker rooms The result was a barrier-free, functional weight room that supports the school’s athletic program
LCHS sought to modernize its outdated auditorium and create dedicated spaces for band and choir programs with improved functionality and acoustics Hobbs+Black led programming, design charrettes, and acoustic coordination to deliver spaces that meet curricular needs while enhancing aesthetics and sound quality The adjacent lobby was also refreshed, resulting in a cohesive and fully updated performing arts facility
Hobbs+Black developed a comprehensive facilities master plan that realigned LCHS’s athletic fields to maximize its 32-acre site and accommodate future growth Implemented in two phases, the plan included a new multi-sport football stadium with track and support amenities, followed by upgraded baseball, softball, and soccer facilities, practice fields, and shared support buildings to enhance the overall athletic experience

The existing building had not seen substantial upgrades since it was built in 1970, and the ISD recognized that it needed to update and reorganize the interior program spaces to create a modern learning environment that would support their operational mission and attract students to the program by providing facilities that mimicked what they would find in a “real world” working environment. Ten major program spaces where analyzed and re-programmed with key ISD staff using design charette style working meetings, the outcome were mutually agreeable schematic designs that allowed the design team to expedite the development of the documents for bidding and procurement in order to meet the construction schedule for summer 2013 The project was completed on time and under budget

The ISD recognized that their Welding, Engineering, and Construction Trades Labs needed to be improved and aligned with current industry standards and practices. Therefore, the decision was made to conduct site visits and programming workshops with staff in order to determine how to effectively and efficiently master plan and budget the project so that is was mutually acceptable to all parties The outcome of the master plan brought the Engineering, Precision Machine and Welding Labs into a centralized location to increase crossover curriculum opportunities and relocated the Construction Trades Lab It was also determined that the work needed to be done in two phases in order to not interrupt classes Phase I relocated the Construction Trades into the existing metal pole barn which was renovated to fit their needs The Welding Classroom was d

The Parkridge Community Center, originally built in 1943, long served as a central gathering place for the Ypsilanti community. After more than 70 years with limited upgrades, a major renovation and 12,000-square-foot addition was initiated to expand services and ensure long-term sustainability. The project includes new space for WorkSkills Corporation, which provides workforce training and helps manage and fund the facility, along with a cultural art museum supported by donated artwork and funding Together, these additions create new job opportunities and strengthen the center’s role in the community Ypsilanti,Michigan

2|42 Ann Arbor is the second campus for the growing community church and was designed around an identity of “community first,” functioning more as a community hub than a traditional church. Building on the success of renovations and additions to their Brighton, Michigan campus, 2|42 recognized the strong connection between their facilities and community impact and sought to bring that full vision to Ann Arbor Site selection emphasized partnerships, visibility, access, future growth, and the adaptive reuse of existing buildings to create an immediate positive presence in the area
The new facility mirrors the Brighton campus in both function and character, offering meeting rooms, indoor play fields, a café, and dedicated auditoriums that are open to the public throughout the week. A shared design aesthetic featuring raw steel, barn wood, shipping containers, and distinct volumes helps define individual programs while creating a cohesive sense of place. Phasing was essential to meet rapid growth needs, with the main auditorium and offices completed first, followed by children’s and youth spaces, and later the café and sports fields
