Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court (⅓ the size of a tennis court) with smooth paddles and a special whiffle-type plastic ball. Most Pickleball is played as doubles and the game has a friendlysocial nature that can also be a fast-paced competitive sport. The sport is low-impact and is played by people of all ages.

WELLNESS & FITNESS
DON'T LET A SPORTS INJURY
SLOW YOU DOWN! Athletes, Fitness Fanatics or Weekend Warriors, Got pain?? Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, frozen shoulder, knee pain, hip pain, soreness from a workout or competition?? We’ve got a solution to improve your performance, reduce pain, inflammation and speed recovery for you!
PULSE THERAPY or (PEMF) Every sport includes some risk of getting injured. The most common cause of injuries stem from overuse and poor training methods. The reality is, athletes still train and compete with injuries, big or small. Being sidelined can be frustrating for any athlete; and is why trainers and coaches put so much emphasis on injury prevention. Along with the fundamentals of rest, stretching, and diet, the addition of PEMF to an athletic regimen can take your performance to the next level.
Why PULSE therapy? PEMF therapy is used by athletes to maximize
performance and at the same time reduce the risk of sports injury. Pulsed electromagnetic fields increase the uptake of oxygen into muscle. An increase in oxygen can significantly enhance muscle performance and stamina. The body’s muscles are able to perform harder, longer and recover faster with PEMF Therapy. After a workout, muscles become sore and sometimes tensed. A well-known effect of PEMF therapy is to reduce muscle tension and soreness/pain. Feel better, perform better, naturally! Call 770-345-2990 to schedule your free trial. Limited time only.
DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE A
HYDRO-MASSAGE BED?? AND IT’S FREE FOR MEMBERS TO USE!
Hydro-Massage is an incredible way to warm up the muscles before a workout or loosen your muscles to prevent soreness after resistance training or high intensity group exercise classes. Deep tissue options for the water pressure will relieve tightness and knots in muscles from previous workouts, or simple everyday stresses. The Hydro-Massage bed is a convenient, dry, full body massage that uses heat and pressurized water. Simply lie down in the open design bed, fully clothed, and feel the immediate benefits of the traveling jet system, which delivers an “all sides” body massage. The bed can be easily customized to put pressure exactly where you need it most. COME GIVE IT A TRY!

NUTRITION TESTING TEST DON’T GUESS
What do you need to enjoy better health or to stay healthy? Many people choose to take nutritional supplements, but guess as what supplement will work best. GEORGIA GOLF PERFORMANCE JUNIOR ACADEMY At Georgia Golf Performance our #1 Goal is to instill a love of the game of golf in your child. We do this by creating a learning environment that is rooted in outcome-based activities for our young juniors in a fun, safe, and interactive environment, which transforms at our highest level to learning what it takes to become a professional golfer. Juniors learn the game with their peers and meet new friends while learning valuable life skills and core values that are inherent to the game. In the program sessions, our students develop skills, run challenges, and enjoy healthy team competition to make learning the game of golf fun and effective. Our junior programs consist of multiple levels of instruction in a series of four sessions per month: Two sessions concentrate on teaching skills and athletic development, one session is for course practice, and one session is devoted to evaluating each child’s progress. GOLF NEWS BMAC- MGA PLAYER OF YEAR UPDATE After 7 events in the BridgeMill MGA Tournament Schedule, we’ve got a tight race: Results as of 7/28/2019... 1st- Bob McCulloch- 36 Points 2nd- Jack Quigley- 36 Points 2rd- Hank Hannon- 36 Points 4th- Lenny Reeves- 34 Points Make sure to follow the tightly contested battle at bridgemillmga.com. GAME OF THE MONTH- NINES – 5-3-1- 3 MAN GAME After your contentious match last weekend where Bryan’s driver was tomahawked over your group’s heads, you find yourself one player down and need a game to keep your interest. It's tough to find good games for three players but this one might be the best. There is a total of nine points available on each hole (a point has a predetermined dollar amount). The player with the low score on a hole gets five points. The player with the second-lowest score gets three. And the worst score on a hole gets one. If there are ties, you simply divide the points by the number of players tied. For example, two players tie for the best score on a hole. That means they split the first- and second-place points (5+3/2=4 apiece). UPCOMING EVENTS September 7th-8th – BMAC Member-Member September 14th-15th- BMAC vs. Eagle Watch (Invitational) September 17th- Greens Aerification October 12th-13th – BMAC Club Championship October 19th-20th – BMAC vs. Lake Arrowhead October 26th- 8 Inch Cup for a Cause- MGA Charity Event MGA SATURDAY GAME - Our goal is 10-12 tee times per week (40-48 golfers). Singles are encouraged to call the clubhouse to book. Groups will be formed from the list of singles, or singles will be used to fill out foursomes. We have an optional Gross Skins game that you can opt into. The pro-shop will email out the groupings and tee times on Friday. Hope to see you out there in our next game. Call the clubhouse to sign up! For more information on the BridgeMill MGA Tournament Schedule or the Saturday Game, please visit the MGA website at bridgemillmga.com.

8 INCH CUP FOR A CAUSE UPDATE October 26th Our most popular and fun-filled event of the year, the 8 Inch Cup for a Cause, provides the BridgeMill MGA an opportunity to honor its pledge to actively pursue a philanthropic endeavor in the community. As many of you are aware, we suffered a tragic loss this year with the death of Luke Maurer. Luke’s Father, Dan, is an active part of our golf community and the MGA is honoring Luke’s memory by joining forces with Cherokee FOCUS. Cherokee FOCUS is a 501(c)3 collaborative that exists to improve the lives of the children and families of Cherokee County. The collaborative is a partnership of organizations, agencies civic clubs, the faith-based community, law enforcement, business, education, families and individuals. We’re also continuing our affiliation with the Cherokee County Special Olympics. Mark your calendars and open your wallets to help with this worthwhile cause. More details to follow on the BMAC website!

FALL JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM The junior program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of all our junior players starting at age 5 and up and recreational to advanced tournament players. The goal of our program is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age. All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner.
EXCEL FUTURE STARS – DEVELOPMENT GROUPS 5-7 years – This group is for our youngest juniors with little or no tennis experience. Our goal in the program is to help children learn and enjoy the game of tennis while improving their overall athletic skills. We focus on basic motor skills like throwing, catching, running and jumping but also learn fundamental racket skills. Classes are 45 minutes. 8-11 years - These classes are for juniors with little or no tennis experience. We focus on developing athletic skills, fundamental stokes and learning how to play points and keep score. Classes are 1 hour Development groups will begin the week of September 9th. Class schedule will be available in the Tennis Pro Shop. 12-16 years – This group is for players with little or no experience. Players will be taught every shot, how to score, how to play a match. This group is great for those aspiring
to play on their high school teams and know what they are doing. 6 week commitment. Check with the Tennis Pro Shop for the next session start date.
EXCEL ACADEMY The Academy group is for intermediate to advanced players, ages 11 & up, who are committed to improving their game. This high energy group of players is striving to play tournaments, high school tennis or working to get a college scholarship. The Head Coach of the academy is Jennifer Pourchier who is also the Head Coach for the Reinhardt University tennis teams! One unique benefit of this is that Academy players often get to hit and train with the college players! Players are divided by ability level and age. BRIDGEMILL SIXES SERVICE LEAGUE BSSL SEPTEMBER 2019
by Molly Mayer
Together, we can make a difference
Happy Fall Y’All! Yes, it is still warm in North Georgia, but that does not keep the BridgeMill Sixes Service League (BSSL) from coming together every month to plan activities and events to raise money for Cherokee County charities. Our Golf FORE Charity was a big success thanks to the leadership of Aaron and Lynn Weimer and their group of volunteers. These ladies and gentlemen came together to plan an event that raised money for the charities that we support and for that we are so grateful to BridgeMill Athletic Club and all of the golfers that came together to make this day a memorable one. Give a Kid a Chance (GAKAC) is one of the charities that our club has supported for years. This year, chaired by Lynn Weimer, we packed 200 hygiene bags. These bags were given out on Saturday July 13th at The First Baptist Church of Canton along with a backpack filled with the school supplies needed for success in the upcoming new school year. See photos below of the groups that were responsible for packing the bags and passing them out. It takes a lot of volunteers to reach success with our events and our club has the best members that are always ready to come forward to lend a hand.

BRIDGEMILL SIXES SERVICE LEAGUE Over the summer we also packed 2500 lunches for the Summer Lunch Program. Led by Susan Gaines, Linda Emore, and Judy West, our members, friends, family members, and neighbors gathered every other week to pack 500 lunches for children of our community. August 15th was our monthly meeting after a short summer break in June and July. President Julie Rosenberg led the meeting as we discussed the many events coming up in the next few months. Want to be a part of this amazing organization? Attend our September meeting on September 19th at 7 PM at the Terraces in BridgeMill. Contact our membership chair: Mary Weichert at 404-431-3777 for additional information.
