今年藝術節邁進第五十四屆，約 180 場演出涵蓋
音樂、戲曲、歌劇、戲劇、舞蹈、藝術科技及 其他表演藝術創作，精彩多元，引人矚目。
藝術節在二月二十七日以西班牙國家舞劇院著 名舞劇《美麗的奧蒂羅》揭開序幕，在舞台重 現巴黎黃金時代的歌舞昇平，別出心裁。三月 二十七日藝術節閉幕以大型舞劇《牡丹亭》為 壓軸演出，呈獻導演兼編舞黎星對經典愛情劇 目的嶄新演繹。今年的音樂節目陣容強大，匯 聚各傑出鋼琴家獻技，有年輕韓國天才鋼琴家 任奫燦，也有榮獲二零二五年范．克萊本國際 大賽金獎及觀眾大獎的本地鋼琴家沈靖韜，實 在不容錯過。
一如既往，藝術節包羅繽紛多彩的外展及教育 活動。今年的「加料節目」着重豐富藝術愛好 者的文化體驗，加深對世界級藝術家的認識， 對於啓發更多人參與藝術活動，以至鞏固香港 作為中外文化藝術交流中心的定位，極為重要。

I am pleased to congratulate the Hong Kong Arts Festival on the organisation of its 2026 season. This year’s Festival, the 54th edition, features some 180 performances, encompassing music, Chinese and Western opera, theatre, dance, arts technology and a dazzling variety of performing arts productions.
The Festival opens on 27 February with Ballet Nacional de España’s acclaimed operatic ballet La Bella Otero , recreating the glamour of Paris’ golden era on stage. The Festival concludes on 27 March with the large-scale dance theatre production DreaminThePeonyPavilion , directed and choreographed by Li Xing, injecting fresh life into the timeless love classic. This year’s music performances present a number of brilliant pianists, including young Korean piano sensation Yunchan Lim, and Hong Kong-born Aristo Sham, the gold medallist and audience award winner at the 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
As ever, the Festival features a diverse range of outreach and educational activities. This year’s PLUS programme focuses on a wide cultural experience for arts lovers and deeper understanding of world-class artists, contributing to promoting engagement in cultural events and consolidating Hong Kong’s positioning as the East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange.

A warm welcome to the 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival. As a leading international performing arts event, the Festival continues to uphold its mission of enriching our city’s cultural life and promoting the best of the performing arts to different sectors of our community. This year, the Festival brings to Hong Kong more than 1,100 distinguished local and international artists from a wide range of artistic disciplines in over 180 performances of more than 45 programmes, as well as about 300 “PLUS”, outreach and education events.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the HKSAR Government, acting through the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, for its annual subvention and matching grant. My heartfelt thanks also go out to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, our corporate sponsors, charitable foundations and donors for their generous support. Their invaluable contributions empower us to actively advance the community through the performing arts.
My genuine appreciation goes to all our internationally renowned and most talented artists for their creativity and outstanding performances on stage. 第54屆香港藝術節雲集眾多大師級藝術家與傑 出團隊，帶來超過180場的音樂、舞蹈、戲劇、
歌劇、戲曲、藝術科技與跨界創作節目，展示藝 術家的精湛造詣。
今年的其中一個主題，是對「勇氣與和平」的探 索。當全球都因為戰亂、流離、經濟下行等苦難 感到焦躁不安，藝術家以獨特的視角與語言，在 舞台上交織出對世界的回應，提醒我們抱持堅毅 與希望。

The 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival once again brings together great masters and outstanding artists, presenting more than 180 performances across music, dance, theatre, opera, Chinese opera, arts-tech and interdisciplinary creations—showcasing the exceptional craft of leading local and international talent.
One of this year’s themes is an exploration of “Courage and Peace”. At a time when the world is troubled by war, displacement, economic downturns and other hardships, artists respond from their own distinctive perspectives and in their own languages on stage, reminding us of the need to be resilient and hopeful.
Some works in this year’s Festival adopt a minimalistic theatrical approach, enabling us to transcend the constraints of geography and resources. We also continue to embrace arts-tech, using mixed-reality technologies to open up new performance possibilities.
As always, the Festival presents more than 300 outreach and education activities. Our PLUS events feature a curated series of talks, masterclasses, backstage tours and guided cultural walks. Our comprehensive education initiatives tailored for primary, secondary and tertiary students are aimed at enabling students to gain a more in-depth understanding and appreciation of the works we present.

, launched in 1973, is a major international arts festival committed to enriching the cultural life of the city by presenting leading local and international artists in all genres of the as well as a diverse range of “PLUS” and in February and March each year.
non-profit organisation. The total income target for FY2025/26 (including the 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival and 2026 “No Limits”) is approximately HK$159 million. Current Government annual baseline funding accounts for around 12% of the Festival's total income. Around 24% of the Festival’s income needs to be generated from the box office, and around 44% from sponsorship and donations made by corporations, individuals and charitable foundations. The remaining 20% is expected to come from other revenue sources including the Government’s matching grant scheme, which matches income generated through private sector sponsorship and donations. The HKAF actively collaborates with Hong Kong’s own creative talent and showcases emerging local artists. Over the years, the HKAF has commissioned and produced over 250 local productions across genres including Cantonese opera, theatre, chamber opera, music and contemporary dance, many with successful subsequent runs in Hong Kong and overseas.

The HKAF frequently partners with renowned international artists and institutions to produce exceptional works, such as Der Fensterputzer (The Window Washer) co-produced with GoetheInstitut Hong Kong and Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch; Richard III and TheTempest produced by The Old Vic, BAM and Neal Street under “The Bridge Project” with the HKAF as a co-commissioning institution; Green Snake co-commissioned with Shanghai International Arts Festival; Dream of the Red Chamber coproduced with San Francisco Opera; Laila , a co-production with Finnish National Opera and Ballet, and 20,000LeaguesUndertheSea , co-produced with The Central Academy of Drama, China, and Compagnie Point Fixe.
The HKAF invests heavily in arts education for young people. Over the past 33 years, our “Young Friends” scheme has reached around 849,000 local secondary and tertiary school students. A variety of arts education projects serving primary, secondary and tertiary school students have been launched in recent years, featuring activities such as student showcases, pre-performance talks, open rehearsals, opportunities to attend Festival performances, as well as in-school workshops and lecture demonstrations led by international and local artists. Donations to the “Student Ticket Scheme” also make available approximately 10,000 halfprice student tickets each year.
The HKAF organises a diverse range of “Festival PLUS” activities in community locations each year to enhance engagement between artists and audiences. These include films, lecture demonstrations, masterclasses, workshops, symposia, backstage visits, exhibitions, meetthe-artist sessions and guided cultural tours.
The HKAF actively promotes inclusion via the arts to every corner of the community. The “No Limits” project, co-presented with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, was launched in 2019. Through a series of performances and diverse arts experiences for students and the community, “No Limits” strives to create an inclusive space for people with different abilities to share the joy of the arts together.

Ticket holders are strongly advised to arrive punctually. The HKAF reserves the right to refuse the (a) admission of latecomers (whether at the beginning of the performance or after the intermission) and (b) re-admission of audience members who leave the auditorium during the performance.

伍子胥之於我
Wu Zixu and Myself
早年決定寫《伍子胥傳》這粵劇劇本時， 一心以為故事發生在吳越春秋年代，能人
輩出，故事十分豐富，誰知動筆後，才知 是件非常艱苦的事。首先，發生在伍子胥 身上的事件，多不勝數，如何取捨，已經
讓我十分困擾了，雖然最終我都要冒險寫 上下集。
以前時興連台本戲的年代，十集、八集都 見過，例如《封神榜》，但近幾十年已經沒 有上下集的戲出現了。這齣戲演是演了， 但連續力似乎建立不到，有時只演上集或 下集。今次有幸藝術節能容讓這齣上下集 的戲與觀眾再見面，我的確喜出望外。
就讓我說說我寫這戲時的二三事。首先， 伍子胥是位絕世聰明的人，他有謀略、有 戰略、有遠見，明知楚平王不是個納諫的 明君，所以他接到父親伍奢的家書，召他 與其兄伍尚進京時，他已仔細看出家書內 隱含「逃走」二字，其兄長卻盲目愚孝。
他走去吳國借兵報仇，一直輔助吳國的公 子姬光（即後來的吳王闔閭），子胥得吳王 借兵滅楚。之後經歷無數事故後，這位令 我們崇拜的政治家、軍事家、每每洞悉先 機、聰明絕頂的偉人，最後死在由他一手 扶植的吳王夫差、由他力薦輔助夫差的伯 嚭、自己入山尋得的屬鏤寶劍，他明知死 路一條，也要回吳國，因為他心中覺得未 報先王之恩。
書寫過程觸動我對人性的感性，也令我明 白到人的想法各有不同，寫到伍子胥的 死，我心裏十分難過，相信感性的人也該 如是。

When I first decided to write the script of TheStory ofWuZixu, I believed that the story, set in the Wu and Yue states during the Spring and Autumn period, was full of interesting characters and rich in narrative. However, after starting to write, I realised it would be a daunting task. The events surrounding Wu Zixu were countless and deciding which to include proved very troublesome, even though I ultimately decided to risk writing it in two parts.
When serial Chinese opera was popular, we often saw plays with eight or 10 episodes, such as Investiture oftheGods. However, in recent decades there have been no plays with two parts. This play has been performed, but the series has not been continuous; sometimes only one part could be performed. I am truly overjoyed that the Hong Kong Arts Festival can accommodate this two-part play and allow it to again be presented to audiences.
I want to talk about a few things related to the writing of this play. First, Wu Zixu was an exceptionally intelligent man, resourceful and visionary. He knew that King Ping of Chu was not a wise ruler who would accept advice, so when he received a letter from his father, Wu She, summoning him and his older brother, Wu Shang, to the capital, he immediately sensed an underlying urge to escape. However, his brother was blindly filial. He insisted on obeying his father’s request and returning to the capital. Zixu went to the state of Wu to borrow troops for revenge, and assisted Prince Ji Guang of Wu (later King Helu of Wu). He secured the King of Wu’s help to attack Chu. After countless incidents, this admired politician, military strategist and brilliant man, who was known for taking the initiative, ultimately met his end. His demise came at the hands of King Fuchai of Wu, whom he had personally nurtured; Bo Pi, whom he had strongly recommended to assist Fuchai; and the Zhulou sword he found in the mountains. Wu Zixu knew full well that returning to the state of Wu meant certain death, but he still chose to go back, because in his heart he felt he had not yet repaid the former king’s kindness.
The writing process led me to reflect deeply on human nature. I also came to realise that everyone thinks differently. When I wrote about Wu Zixu’s death, I was deeply saddened, and I believe anyone with feeling would be as well.

故事由楚平王囚禁伍子胥之父，迫令其修書 騙兩子進京開始。
子胥與其兄伍尚商議後決定一人進京，一人 遠走，伺機復仇。子胥逃走路上遇上好友申 包胥，包胥雖放子胥脫難，但誓言「你能滅 楚、我能興楚」。由於平王四處以畫像捉拿子 胥，子胥在昭關之前不敢通過，幸遇東皋公 及皇甫訥二人，皋公將其藏於後園小室，七 日不能得脫，子胥日夜憂煎，忽然一夜鬚髮 皆白，反因此得以蒙混過昭關到吳國。
子胥在吳國市上得知公子光路過，故意吹簫 乞食，遂吸引到公子光注意及賞識，並為公 子光設下刺殺當時執政者姬僚之計。子胥引 薦壯士專諸，教專諸到太湖學烹魚之藝，藝 成才以魚藏劍殺姬僚，扶公子光登位，便是 吳王闔閭。繼而借兵滅楚，在陣前放申包胥 一馬，滅楚後得知平王已死，遂起平王之屍 怒鞭三百。
Synopsis
The story begins with King Ping of Chu imprisoning Wu Zixu's father and forcing him to write a letter to trick Zixu and his brother into coming to the capital.
After discussing the situation, Wu Zixu and his brother, Wu Shang, decide that one of them will go to the capital while the other will go into exile to prepare for revenge. On his escape, Zixu encounters his friend Shen Baoxu, who, although letting Zixu escape, swears: “If you can defeat Chu, I can defend Chu.” Because King Ping is searching everywhere for Zixu with his portrait, Zixu dares not go through Zhao Pass. Fortunately, he meets Dong Gaogong and Huangfu Ne. Gaogong hides him in a small room in his back garden. For seven days Zixu is tormented day and night, until his hair and beard turn white overnight. Due to this change in appearance, he is finally able to slip through Zhao Pass and reach the State of Wu.
When Zixu learns that Prince Guang will be passing through the market of Wu, he plays a flute and begs for food, attracting Prince Guang's attention and winning his appreciation. Zixu then devises a plan for Prince Guang to assassinate Ji Liao, the ruler at the time. Zixu introduces the warrior Zhuan Zhu to the prince and sends him to Lake Tai to learn the art of cooking fish. Once Zhuan Zhu has mastered the skill, he uses a fish to conceal a sword and kills Ji Liao, enabling Prince Guang to ascend the throne as King Helu of Wu. He then borrows troops from King Helu to destroy Chu, sparing Shen Baoxu's life on the battlefield. After the destruction of Chu and King Ping's death, Zixu has the king’s corpse raised and lashes it 300 times in furious posthumous revenge.

吳越戰爭，吳王闔閭於戰陣中為越王勾踐射 殺。伍子胥在闔閭死後扶闔閭之孫夫差登位， 吳越戰爭再起，吳滅越擒勾踐於椒山。子胥力 勸吳王夫差殺勾踐除後患，惟夫差一念婦人之 仁，更兼范蠡、文種兩越臣進美獻媚，不單不 殺勾踐，還放回越地；又興師伐齊，更日盡酒 色之娛。子胥眼看不能警醒夫差，失望之餘便 將幼子寄於齊好友家中。
夫差不納忠言，賜劍予子胥自刎，子胥死前囑 咐將其雙目掛於姑蘇城門處。不數月，勾踐率 師滅吳，於秦杭山殺夫差。相傳子胥英靈不 滅，領吳將驅潮攻越，故此錢塘潮每有萬馬奔 騰之勢。
Synopsis
During the War of Wu and Yue, King Helu of Wu is killed by King Goujian of Yue in battle. After Helu’s death, Wu Zixu helps Helu’s grandson, Fuchai, ascend the throne. The War of Wu and Yue resumes, and Wu conquers Yue, capturing Goujian in Jiao Mountain. Wu Zixu strongly urges King Fuchai to execute Goujian and eliminate future danger, but Fuchai, bound by compassion and further swayed by the flattery of Yue ministers Fan Li and Wen Zhong, not only spares Goujian’s life but also releases him back to Yue. He then launches a campaign against the Qi state and indulges in wine and women. Seeing that he cannot persuade Fuchai, Zixu is extremely disappointed. He then entrusts his young son to a friend in Qi.
Fuchai refuses to heed Zixu’s advice and give Zixu a sword to commit suicide. Zixu then takes his own life, asking that his eyes be hung at the gate of Gusu. Within a few months, Goujian destroys Wu and puts Fuchai to death at Qinhang Mountain. Legend has it that Zixu’s spirit did not perish, leading Wu generals to drive the tides to attack Yue—hence the Qiantang River often resembles a stampede of 10,000 horses.

Yangguang, the second son of the Qin Emperor, is banished to Lintong for being in a relationship with handmaiden Shuanghong. Holding a grudge, he grows closer to Hengshan, the Princess of Danyang. As Emperor Wen falls, Yangguang ascends to rule with his relatives’ support. In his third year of reign, he increasingly favours Shuanghong over Princess Hengshan; and is forced to abdicate by Tang Prince Li Yuan and General Yuwen Lühua. After Yangguang retreats to Danyang, Shuanghong persuades him to surrender. Unwilling to betray his country, Yangguang first kills the scheming concubine, Shuanghong, then commits suicide as atonement.

Towards the end of the Western Han dynasty, Wang Mang usurps the throne, but Wu Han’s father refuses to join his court and is slaughtered by Wang Mang. Oblivious to who killed his father, Wu Han grows up and accepts Wang’s daughter Lanying as his wife by decree. His mother later confesses the truth and asks him to kill his wife using the “Sword of Loyalty”, a blade bestowed by the former Han emperor and left in his father’s keeping; then to avenge his father and their fallen country by restoring the Han dynasty.

賈善仁一心將養女如鳳嫁予王爺趙承基，奈 何如鳳與將軍郭文龍兩情相悅，善仁唯有答 應二人婚事。呂公望察悉如鳳是文龍失散之 妹，遂勸文龍另娶承基之妹玉娥郡主，善仁 帶如鳳就親，驚聞婚事生變。喜堂上，如鳳 與玉娥爭夫，文龍不堪刺激，傷心投水自盡。
Jia Shanren has his heart set on marrying his adopted daughter, Rufeng, to Prince Zhao Chengji, but she and General Guo Wenlong fall for each other, and Jia has no choice but to agree to the union. Lu Gongwang discerns that Rufeng is the long-lost sister of Wenlong, and persuades Wenlong to take Chengji’s sister, Princess Yu’e, as his bride instead. Shanren and Rufeng arrive at the venue only to find that circumstances have changed. At the ceremony, Wenlong cannot bear to see Rufeng and Yu’e fight over him and drowns himself from sadness.

忠義情仇 粵劇台上紛陳 Loyalty, Honour and Rivalry: The Rich World of
Cantonese Opera
現年八十歲的知名資深粵劇演員阮兆輝， 年幼時已思考粵劇承傳的問題，「我七歲做 戲時，看見台下全是公公婆婆，我也曾擔 心『我長大了誰來看戲？』」他認為粵劇要 長演長有，必先讓人認識。
Veteran Yuen Siu-fai, now 80, recalls wondering about the future of Cantonese opera even as a child performer. “At seven, I looked out into an audience full of elderly people and thought: ‘When I grow up, who will still come to watch?’” For him, if Cantonese opera is to endure, people must first come to know it.
為推廣不同階段粵劇的演化和精采之處， 阮兆輝自 2025 年起與香港藝術節合作進行 「三年粵歷三百年」計劃，首年以「始」為
主題，上演以官話（中州韻）演出的古腔粵 劇及排場戲；今年則以「傳」為主題，演 出上世紀三十年代至今著名編劇、名伶之 折子戲佳作，以及重演他自編自演的歷史 長劇《伍子胥傳》，全面呈現當代粵劇的面 貌。
阮兆輝解釋，以上世紀三十年代為分界，
是因為當時粵劇演出語言漸漸以白話取代 官話，更直白易懂，使粵劇在廣東地區成 為真正的「地方戲」；粵劇團由全男班改變 成男女同班演出；佈景亦由無變有。題材
方面，「當時民生太苦，戰亂多，人們到了 某個階段便苦得想『吃糖』。」造就生旦談 情、纏綿悱惻的鴛鴦蝴蝶派劇目成為主流。
然而，隨着劇作主題趨向單一，以致生、 旦以外的部分行當日漸沒落，如大花面 （淨角，多飾演奸角 ) 、老旦（多由男演員飾 演的年老女角）等。所以這次阮兆輝除了 挑選唐滌生編劇的鴛鴦蝴蝶派作品《牡丹 亭驚夢》之〈幽媾〉，盡顯人鬼戀的精粹； 還有唐滌生較早期另一風格迥異之作《胭 脂血染戰袍紅》之〈殉情〉；也選了新馬師 曾參考了多個京劇名家後演出的《一把存 忠劍》之〈見娘〉，反映粵劇如何受京劇影 響，同時突顯老旦這個較少人認識的行當 特色。
折子戲的選擇也能窺見師徒承傳的精妙， 阮兆輝將偕南鳳演出其師父麥炳榮開山的 《痴鳳狂龍》之〈拜堂〉；至於《多情君瑞 俏紅娘》之〈遞柬〉，則由藍天佑飾演男主 角，這個角色當年正是由藍天佑的師父林 家聲演出。
為了令粵劇題材更多元化，阮兆輝早在 1971 年已成立香港實驗粵劇團，創作及演出鴛 鴦蝴蝶派以外的作品，表達家國家情懷、 仁義道德等主題。而《伍子胥傳》就是阮 兆輝 2003 年之作。在春秋時代眾多賢能之 士中，他選擇了伍子胥為主角，「這是我寫 過最難寫的劇本，寫到走進了困局。」一來
Since 2025, Yuen has been collaborating with the Hong Kong Arts Festival on a three-year project titled 300 Years of Cantonese Opera. The first season, themed “The Beginning”, presented ancient plays in old Mandarin (also known as Zhongyuan or Central Plains Mandarin) phonology together with traditional formulaic plays. The current season, themed “The Transition”, showcases outstanding excerpts by celebrated playwrights and performers from the 1930s to the present, alongside a revival of Yuen’s own historical epic TheStoryofWuZixu, offering a comprehensive portrait of contemporary Cantonese opera.
Yuen sees the 1930s as a turning point: performances shifted from old Mandarin to vernacular Cantonese, transforming the art form into a true “regional opera”. At the same time, all-male troupes gave way to mixed-gender casts, and sets became increasingly elaborate. As society endured hardship and war, audiences looked for more uplifting entertainment and the romantic, lyrical love stories of the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly literary movement came to dominate.
Yet this narrowed focus led to the decline of other types of roles beyond the leading male (sheng) and female (dan) roles, such as the villainous huamian and the elderly female laodan (traditionally played by men). To highlight this diversity, Yuen’s current selections include Tong Tik-sang’s romantic ghost tale “A Union with the Ghost” from DreamofThePeonyPavilion, his earlier tragedy “Die for Love” from WarCape ofRougeandBlood, and Sun Ma Sze Tsang’s “Reunion with Mother” from The Sword of Loyalty, which drew on Peking opera techniques to showcase the distinctive artistry of the lesserknown character type of laodan
The chosen excerpts also illuminate the passing of tradition from master to disciple. Along with Nam Fung, Yuen will perform “Wedding Ceremony” from AMismatchedCouple, a piece once staged by his teacher, Mak Bing-wing. Meanwhile, “Sending Letters” from Romance of the West Chamber features actor Lam Tin-yau in a role originated by his mentor, Lam Kar-sing.
春秋局勢混亂、人物關係千絲萬縷，需要 大量考證歷史，二來因為他愈抽絲剝繭， 愈不解伍子胥的選擇。尤其是伍子胥歷盡
千辛萬苦，從楚國死裏逃生到吳國，惟後 來吳王夫差繼位後，遭其賜死，「他明知皇 帝是昏君仍去送死，證明那時賢人也未必 有好下場。」阮兆輝慨嘆伍子胥雖然才智過 人，卻把仇恨放得太重，以致愚忠送命。
阮兆輝這次會將劇本更精簡，把伍子胥跌 宕起伏的人生呈現。
即使粵劇在主題、演出形式近百年來不斷 改變，不過阮兆輝強調，「程式不會變， 變了就不成戲曲。我守着梅蘭芳先生說的 『移步不換形』，這個移步是思想的進步， 戲裏點題的地方進步。」他相信，真正吸引 觀眾的，是故事內容，而非官能刺激。

Determined to broaden the repertoire, Yuen founded the Hong Kong Experimental Cantonese Opera Troupe in 1971, creating works beyond the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly school that addressed themes of patriotism, morality and loyalty. His 2003 play TheStoryofWuZixu is one such example. Among the many virtuous figures of the Spring and Autumn period, he chose Wu Zixu as the protagonist: “It was the hardest script I have ever written; it led me into a labyrinth.” The challenge lay not only in untangling the complex politics and relationships of the era through painstaking historical research, but also in confronting the enigma of Wu’s decisions. Having survived persecution in the kingdom of Chu and fleeing to the rival state of Wu, he was ultimately executed by the new king Fuchai. “He knew Fuchai was a foolish ruler yet still sacrificed himself. It shows that even wise men could meet a tragic fate. Wu was brilliant, but his hatred consumed him. A blind loyalty ultimately costed him his life.” This year Yuen will present a distilled version of the drama, tracing Wu’s turbulent life.
While Cantonese opera has evolved in theme and style during the past century, Yuen insists: “The conventions of Chinese opera must remain. If altered, it is no longer Chinese opera. I always follow Mei Lanfang’s dictum: ‘Move your steps but do not alter the form.’ Progress lies in the ideas and themes.” What truly captivates audiences, he believes, is not the spectacle, but the story.

Yuen Siu-fai is a veteran Cantonese opera performing artist. He has been deeply connected with the art throughout his life and has dedicated himself to the inheritance and promotion of Cantonese opera. In 2012, he was made an Honourary Fellow of The Education University of Hong Kong. In 2014, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region conferred on him the Bronze Bauhinia Star. In 2024, he was conferred an Honourary Doctorate by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2025, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council conferred on him the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards (Life Achievement Award).
He is also currently a Visiting Associate Professor of the Department of Music of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Artistic Director of the One Table and Two Chairs Charitable Foundation, Director of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association and museum adviser to the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department (Cantonese Opera).

藍天佑於2011年成立藍天藝術工作室。先後組建 頌先聲粵劇團、天藝宏粵劇團和喜天成粵劇團。於 2023年第51屆香港藝術節，主演及統籌由杜國威編 寫的新編粵劇《竹林愛傳奇》。該劇於2024年獲國 家藝術基金及香港藝術節基金會資助，於香港、廣 州、佛山及珠海巡演；更於2025年獲韓國國際音樂 戲劇節邀請演出。隨後，獲深圳市人民政府邀請參與 2025年深圳「一帶一路」國際音樂季演出。

Lam Tin-yau
Lam Tin-yau is a Cantonese opera artist, specialising in wenwusheng(civil and military male) roles. He graduated from the Guangdong Cantonese Opera School and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
In 2010, he studied under the prominent Cantonese opera artist Lam Kar-sing, who taught him the Lam style of Cantonese opera. In 2011, Lam established the Nan Art Workshop. In 2023, Lam starred in and coordinated the new Cantonese opera Loveinthe BambooGrove, written by Raymond To, for the 51st Hong Kong Arts Festival. In 2024, the production, supported by the China National Arts Fund and the Hong Kong Arts Festival Foundation, toured across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhuhai. In 2025, he was invited to perform at the Korea International Music Theater Festival. Subsequently, he was invited by the Shenzhen Municipal Government to participate in the 2025 Shenzhen Belt & Road International Music Festival.

Coordinator & Cast Keith Lai
Keith Lai is an apprentice of Cantonese opera master Man Chin-sui and celebrated musician Poon Sai-lun. In 2011, he won the Hong Kong Arts Development Council’s Young Artist Award (Chinese Opera), and in the same year, established Canto Op, hoping to promote the genre with fresh takes on classic productions. In 2016, he collaborated with WestK and created the experimental Cantonese opera Farewell MyConcubine, which toured various locations across Asia and won the 2017 Best Experimental Xiqu Award in Beijing. In 2019, he received the Best Actor award at Beijing’s New Arts and Cultural Outstanding Theatre Showcase for his performance in Wenguang ExplorestheValley. In recent years, he has also worked as a part-time instructor at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

少年時於父親梁漢威之漢風粵劇研究院學藝；蒙郭 錦華老師教授基本功、賈君祥老師教授淨角身段， 以及拜高潤權師父門下學習鑼鼓，更隨阮兆輝學習 粵劇傳統排場精粹，近年則專注向丑生行當發展。
梁煒康兼擅台前幕後的工作，經常為各項大型或新 編粵劇製作擔任舞台監督及燈光設計。
2011年，他與黎耀威、龍玉聲及劉芷恩成立「吾 識大戲」，製作及創作多齣不同風格的粵劇。曾於 香港演藝學院戲曲課程擔任客席講師，以及擔任西 九文化區管理局諮詢委員會委員。2023年參與第 51屆香港藝術節《竹林愛傳奇》演出及擔任燈光設 計，2024年在第52屆香港藝術節《神．話》中兼 任編、導、演之職。
Coordinator & Cast Wyborn Leung Wai-hong
As a youngster, Wyborn Leung Wai-hong was a student at his father Leung Hon-wai’s Hon Fung Cantonese Opera Institute. He was also the apprentice of Guo Jinhua for the basics, Jia Junxiang forjing (a role for painted faces such as heroes, generals, villains, gods or demons) and movement, Ko Yun-kuen for gongs and drums, and Yuen Siu-fai for the essence of traditional formulaic plays. He now specialises in chousheng (comic male) roles.
In 2011, Leung established Canto Op with Keith Lai, Thomas Law and Lau Tsz-yan. In 2023, he performed and served as a lighting designer for Cantonese Opera—LoveintheBambooGrove for the 51st Hong Kong Arts Festival. In 2024, he also wrote, directed and starred in TheOracle for the 52nd Hong Kong Arts Festival.

出生於粵劇擊樂世家，家族三代皆為粵樂名家，乃 已故著名粵劇擊樂領導高根先生之子。他七歲入 行，十四歲已擔任由麥炳榮和鳳凰女擔綱的大龍鳳 劇團之擊樂領導，及後隨譚桂華在各大小劇團中實 習。上世紀九十年代開始參與香港藝術節、亞洲藝 術節、神州藝術節等大型粵劇演出，劇目包括《醉 斬二王》、《西河會妻》等。

Ko Yun-kuen
Ko Yun-kuen hails from a family with three generations of renowned Cantonese opera percussionists. He is the son of prominent Cantonese opera percussion leader Ko Gun. He began his career at the age of seven and by the age of 14, led the percussion section of the Tai Lung Fung Cantonese Opera Troupe. In the 1990s, he started performing in large-scale Cantonese opera productions at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Asia Arts Festival and the China Arts Festival.

佘嘉樂是土生土長的年輕粵樂音樂家，自七歲開始 學習二胡，中學畢業後在香港演藝學院修讀中國戲 曲課程。2017年，以一級榮譽畢業，同年獲聘為演 藝青年粵劇團的音樂領導，並在全港各大劇團擔任 音樂設計和音樂領導。2020年成立樂孜聲工作室， 寓意孜孜不倦地傳承粵劇藝術，除了傳統粵劇藝術 之外，也學習西方樂理，望納百家之善。
Ensemble Leader Share Ka-lok
Share Ka-lok, a young musician born and raised in Hong Kong, began learning the erhu at the age of seven. He studied Chinese opera at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2017, he graduated with first-class honours and was appointed Ensemble Leader of the Young Academy Cantonese Opera Troupe. He has also served as Music Designer and Ensemble Leader for major Cantonese opera companies throughout Hong Kong. In 2020, he established the Diligent Voices Workshop, a studio dedicated to the tireless pursuit of the arts of Cantonese opera.

十三歲隨吳惜衣、譚珊珊及粉菊花習藝及北派功架。 1962年參與慶新聲劇團演出《雷鳴金鼓戰笳聲》初踏 台板。1963年拜粵樂名家王粵生為師，學習曲藝。後 在王粵生介紹下參加慶紅佳劇團演出。1994年與阮兆 輝組織鳳笙輝劇團，1995年與龍貫天組織龍鳳劇團， 1999年與李龍組織龍嘉鳳劇團。2001年，參與香港 藝術節演出《曹操．關羽．貂蟬》；同年，應康樂及 文化事務署邀請，於「中國傳奇」藝術節演出《四大 美人》。2011年參與香港藝術節，演出「花旦王」芳 艷芬的名劇。2016年獲香港特別行政區政府頒授MH 榮譽勳章。

Nam Fung (Special Guest)
Nam Fung began her Cantonese opera training at the age of 13 and made her stage debut in 1962. In 1963, she became a formal disciple of Wong Yuet-sang to train in song art. Later, she joined the Hing Hung Gai Cantonese Opera Troupe. In 1999, she co-founded the Lung Ka Fung Cantonese Opera Troupe with Lee Lung. She formed the Tsung Sun Sing Troupe with Yuen Siu-fai in 1994 and established the Tan Fung Cantonese Opera Troupe with Loong Koon-tin in 1995. In 2001, she participated in the Hong Kong Arts Festival, performing ToweringLegendsoftheThree Kingdoms; that same year, she was invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to perform TheFourBeauties for the Legends of China Festival. In 2016, she was awarded the Medal of Honour by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Cheng Nga-ki
Cheng Nga-ki has had a passion for Cantonese opera since she was a child. At the age of 14, she learned opera skills from veteran artist Pei Yanling, specialising in dan(female) roles. In 2008, she graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and majored in Cantonese Opera. In 2011, she established the Nan Art Workshop and the Chung Sin Sing Cantonese Opera Troupe. In 2013, Cheng performed with her senior Yuen Siu-fai in The MoonPavilion, and in 2014, she starred alongside Lam Tin-yau in TheGildedFan at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. 溫玉瑜
自幼酷愛粵劇，於1978年正式投身於粵劇行業，從 基層演員（俗稱「跑龍套」）做起，啟蒙老師為粵劇 名宿陳覺非，後有緣向紅伶羅家英、李寶瑩執弟子 禮，追隨左右且學且演。1980至1990年間，溫玉瑜
親自領軍，先後與陳嘉鳴、高麗、岑翠紅、鄭詠梅等 在星馬一帶演出，更於1990年在新加坡創下二十九 天日夜連演五十八場不同戲碼之記錄，至今尚未被人 超越。近年，溫玉瑜亦大膽嘗試作跨行當的演出，除 擔演小生，還兼演丑生、鬚生、花臉，甚至老旦。

Wan Yuk-yu
Wan Yuk-yu officially entered the Cantonese opera industry in 1978, starting from the grassroots level as an extra in small roles. His mentor was the renowned Chinese opera master Chan Kok-fei. Later, he became a disciple of the prominent performers Law Kar-ying and Lee Po-ying. During the 1980s and 1990s, Wan led his own troupe and performed in Singapore and Malaysia with artists such as Chan Ka-ming, Ko Lai, Shum Tsui-hung and Cheng Wing-mui. In 1990, he set an unbeaten record in Singapore by performing 58 different plays over 29 consecutive days. In recent years, Wan has also ventured into cross-role performances besides playing xiaosheng (young male) roles.

Alan Tam Wing-lun
Alan Tam Wing-lun joined the Hong Kong Children and Juvenile Chinese Opera Troupe at the age of three. He studied under Ng Cheuk-jung, Cheung Bo-wah, Lui Hung-kwong, Cheng Wing-mui, Fu Yuet-wah, He Mengliang and Wang Jialing. Tam also studied singing techniques under Lam Kamtong. Tam later graduated from the Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong specialising in sheng (male) roles. In 2013, he won the Hong Kong Arts Development Council’s Award for Young Artist (Xiqu). In 2014, he was named the Rising Star in Cantonese Opera at the WestK Xiqu Centre and is currently part of the centre’s Tea House Rising Stars Troupe. He also plays wenwusheng (civil and military male) roles in the Hing Wing Sun Cantonese Opera Troupe.

Janet Wong
Janet Wong graduated in 2005 from the Advanced Certificate Programme (Cantonese Opera) of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where she specialised in dan (female) roles and studied under musician Ng Lut-kwong. Since then she has performed with various Cantonese opera troupes and also formed her own troupe. In 2014, Wong won the Outstanding Performance Award at the Rising Stars in Cantonese Opera Showcase organised by WestK Xiqu Centre, as well as the Award for Young Artist (Xiqu) presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Since 2018, she has been the Music Designer of the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe and was named the Outstanding Young Performer at the 2nd Cantonese Opera Golden Bauhinia Awards in 2021.

Xiaoyu graduated from the first Bachelor's degree Cantonese opera cohort at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She specialises in the guimendan (young unmarried female), qingyi (young and middle aged lady), and daomadan (martial female) roles. Xiaoyu achieved excellent academic results at the academy, establishing a solid foundation for her career. Her stage presence is dignified and graceful, with a sweet vocal tone and a broad performance range. She is currently active in various Hong Kong troupes, performing principal roles in full-length Cantonese operas and opera excerpts.

畢業於湛江小孔雀粵劇學校，師 承孔雀屏老師。2010年就讀於香 港演藝學院戲曲系，畢業後獲阮 兆輝伉儷賞識，收為入室義子。
2024年4月與「二度梅」得主、 國家一級演員歐凱明先生結下師 徒緣份。曾於廣東粵劇院青年團 等劇團擔任演員。
2021年榮獲第二屆香港粵劇金紫 荊優秀年青演員獎。

Jim Ho-fung
Jim Ho-fung graduated from the Xiao Kong Que Cantonese Opera School, studying under master Kong Queping. After graduating from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ School of Chinese Opera in 2010, he was honoured to be adopted as a godchild by Yuen Siu-fai and his wife.
In April 2024, he became a disciple of Ou Kaiming, a two-time winner of the China Theatre Plum Blossom Award and National First-Class Performer. In 2021, he was awarded the Cantonese Opera Golden Bauhinia Award for Outstanding Young Performers.

Chan Kei-ting
Chan Kei-ting graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with an Advanced Certification in Cantonese Opera. She was granted a scholarship from the Hongkong Bank Foundation to study in Beijing. Chan apprenticed under her godfather Lam Kamtong and under renowned artists including Poon Sai-lun, Leung Sum-yee and Ng Luk-kwong. In 2016, she was selected as a Rising Star of Cantonese Opera by the WestK Xiqu Centre. In 2018, she joined the WestK Xiqu Centre's Tea House Rising Stars Troupe, specialising in dan (female) roles.

Edgar Ng Lap-hei
Edgar Ng Lap-hei studied singing with Cantonese opera instructor Wong Yee-man and movement with renowned teachers such as He Jiayao and Zhou Zhenbang. He graduated from the Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong and became a disciple of Peking opera master Guan Shizhen. In 2020, Ng won the Award for Young Artist (Xiqu) at the 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. In 2023, he was recognised as the Best Young Artist at the third Cantonese Opera Golden Bauhinia Awards. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Arts Festival is a non-profit organisation. Income from ticket sales and government baseline funding can only partially cover the Festival’s costs for presenting and promoting the best performing arts from around the world. The Festival can only continue its work thanks to the generous support of its donors. Please support the Festival Donation Scheme so we can continue to present world-class international and local artists as well as offering diverse outreach and education activities.
The Hong Kong Arts Festival is a recipient of the HKSAR Government’s Art Development Matching Grants Scheme. Part of the Festival’s sponsorship and donation income will benefit from a dollar-for-dollar match by the Government.* Donations of any amount will make a difference, and are greatly appreciated!
