Paired Influence: MFA Student’s

Selections from the University Collection

January 7 - February 20, 2026

In Paired Influence, Hite Institute of Art + Design MFA Candidates select artwork from the University Collection that shares their creative interests—through materials, style, or concept. Those pieces are then paired with their own work so viewers can explore the overlapping themes and concepts present amongst the groupings. Exploring how artists are influenced by and react to each other’s work, Paired Influence offers a glimpse at the universal styles and ideas that unite artist across time and the world.

Featuring work by students, Nahla Joy, Oliver Krueger, Kristine Moss, and Michaela Weick, alongside collection pieces by Edward Glannon, Paul Klee, Barry Moser, Ad Reinhardt, Utagawa Toyokuni, Sylvia Wald and more.

Little Fictions

January 15 - February 20, 2026

Drawing from the University’s rich art collection, Little Fictions explores the role of storytelling in the visual arts. Over centuries artists have used their craft to bring myths and histories to life, explore abstract ideas, or use a landscape to reflect the mood, values, and culture of the time.

MISSING: When East Village Artists

Came to Main Street

March 20 - May 2, 2025

Reception: Friday March 20 | 5-7 PM

MISSING: When East Village Artists Came to Main Street, is an exhibition that returns to December 1985 when five New York artists traveled to Louisville to stage an unlikely show in a vacant building at 600 East Main Street.

Mounted as a fundraiser for Kentucky’s Child Victims’ Trust Fund, the 1985 Missing Children Show featured new work by David Wojnarowicz, Judy Glantzman, Rich Colicchio, Kiely Jenkins, and Futura 2000. Dubbed “the new irascibles,” this group of artists defined New York’s new East Village avant-garde scene with a mix of graffiti, painterly expressionism, social commentary, and impassioned advocacy. MISSING brings these artists back to Louisville’s Main Street for an exhibition of 1980s art alongside photographs and ephemera from the historic Missing Children Show.
