Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam

Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who has dedicated her career to patient care, oncology clinical trials, and promoting health equity. Over the years, she has worked in a range of healthcare settings, including academic, private, and government roles. She remains dedicated to providing effective treatment for people with cancer while seeking to reduce gaps in care for those who are underserved. Throughout her professional journey, she has been involved in over 40 oncology clinical trials, working with various types of tumors. Her career is shaped by the conviction that research and clinical practice should mutually support one another. By combining direct patient care with research and virtual consultations, she aims to expand access to specialized oncology services, both in the United States and internationally. She also offers pro bono second opinions to cancer patients in South Asia, aiming to support those who have limited resources or fewer treatment options. Her background includes practice in Southern California, Atlanta, and Washington D.C., as well as service at the FDA, NIH, and VA. This experience enables her to address patient care, science, and equity from multiple perspectives. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Brown University and completed her Doctor of Medicine at Meharry Medical College. Her residency in Internal Medicine was at Tufts-New England Medical Center, followed by a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. She has held clinical and research positions at various institutions, assuming leadership roles and facilitating access to clinical trials for patients with cancer. She served as a principal investigator and has been recognized for her work with awards and research grants. In recent years, she has provided inpatient care at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and joined the VA Medical Center in Washington, DC, where she cares for veterans.
