Beverly Ann Johnson is an American model, actress, singer, and businesswoman. Beverly’s remarkable three-decade career began when she took the modeling world by storm in the ‘70s. Johnson rose to fame when she became the first African-American model to appear on the cover of American Vogue in August 1974.
In 1975, Johnson became the first black woman to appear on the cover of the French edition of Elle transcending race & appearing on more than 500 magazine covers & thousands of editorial pages through the 1990s.
Beverly didn’t limit herself to print – she also worked the runway for Yves St. Laurent, Valentino, Calvin Klein and Halston. Ever the over-achiever, Beverly also appeared in feature films & television programs, including her reality TV show Beverly’s Full House on OWN.
