SOCIAL SHOPPING: IS THIS THE NEXT BIG OPPORTUNITY FOR THE TROPHY AND AWARDS

RETAIL INDUSTRY?

The retail landscape is evolving faster than ever, and social media is no longer just a marketing tool — it’s becoming a shopping platform in its own right. Social shopping, where consumers discover, engage, and purchase products directly through social apps, is transforming the way people shop and connect with brands. For the trophy, awards, engraving, and personalisation sector, this shift presents a unique opportunity to reach new audiences and drive sales in innovative ways.

What is Social Shopping?

Social shopping combines entertainment, social interaction, and e-commerce. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Pinterest now allow businesses to showcase products in feed posts, stories, live streams, and shoppable videos — and most importantly, customers can buy without ever leaving the app.

This creates a seamless, engaging, and highly visual shopping experience — perfect for the trophy and awards industry, where products are not just items but symbols of achievement, recognition, and personal meaning.

Why It Works for Personalisation and Engraving

The personalisation sector thrives on visual appeal and storytelling. Seeing a trophy engraved live, or a customised medal displayed beautifully, creates an emotional connection that drives purchasing decisions. Social shopping allows brands to:

Showcase live demos: Short video clips of engraving or assembly highlight craftsmanship.

Highlight personal stories: Share customer stories or award ceremonies to build community and trust.

Offer instant purchase: Shoppable posts let interested buyers act immediately, reducing friction.

Incorporating Social Shopping into Daily High-Street Operations

Social shopping doesn’t replace brick-and-mortar stores — it enhances them. High-street retailers can integrate social selling into daily operations in practical ways:

1. In-store live demos: Stream engraving or customisation sessions live on social platforms while customers watch and shop online.

2. Shoppable displays: Feature products in-store with QR codes linking directly to social shopping posts, allowing customers to buy items instantly even if they aren’t ready to take them home.

3. Interactive consultations: Use social platforms to schedule appointments, showcase design options, or consult on custom pieces — bringing the in-store expertise online.

4. User-generated content in-store: Display customer photos from social channels alongside products, reinforcing authenticity and encouraging more social engagement.

By integrating social shopping with in-store activity, retailers can drive footfall, boost online sales, and engage a wider audience, creating a seamless omnichannel experience.

The Global Reach Advantage

Social shopping removes geographic barriers. A small engraving studio in London can now reach clients across Europe, Asia, or the Americas — offering customised trophies, medals, and awards to a truly global audience. For high-street businesses, this is an opportunity to expand reach without expanding physically, while still maintaining the tactile, personalised experience that in-store customers value.

Final Thoughts

For the trophy, awards, engraving, and personalisation industry, social shopping is more than a trend — it’s a new way to connect, present, and convert.

By combining visually engaging content, live demonstrations, and seamless in-app purchasing with daily high-street operations, businesses can meet their customers where they are: scrolling, engaging, and ready to celebrate achievements online.

The next step for ambitious brands? Think of your social channels and your shop floor as a unified showroom — one that reaches both local and global customers at the same time.

Piattaforme come Instagram, Facebook,

I prodotti personalizzati prosperano grazie alla narrazione e all’impatto visivo.

Portata globale

Il social shopping elimina i limiti geografici, consentendo a studi locali di raggiungere clienti internazionali mantenendo l’esperienza personalizzata in negozio.

Considerazioni finali

HPC LASER OPEN DAYS PROVE A BIG HIT!!

Following the success of its first Open Day in November 2025, HPC LASER recently hosted its second event, which proved to be another outstanding success. The company welcomed a strong turnout of visitors from a wide range of industries. Throughout the day, attendees explored a broad selection of laser systems on display, including CO2 laser engravers and cutters, laser welders and cleaners, and Bodor fibre laser cutters. This gave visitors the opportunity to see first-hand the breadth of HPC LASER’s product range and understand how different machines are suited to specific applications.

Live demonstrations across multiple systems were particularly popular. Visitors enjoyed seeing the machines in action and valued the chance to ask questions and have open, practical discussions with the HPC LASER team. The informal format created a relaxed environment where conversations flowed naturally, allowing attendees to take their time without pressure.

A key part of the day focused on communicating the vital importance of exceptional service and ongoing support when investing in a laser machine. Conversations covered installation, training, aftersales care, and long-term reliability, reinforcing that a laser purchase is not just about the machine itself, but the support behind it. HPC LASER prides itself on providing expert guidance before purchase and dependable support long after installation.

Of course, no Open Day would be complete without with some decent grub, and the pork pies (aka Gowlers up North) with mushy peas and mint sauce went down a treat, all adding to the friendly atmosphere of the day.

Commenting on the event, Managing Director Steve Cockerham said:

“I was really pleased with the number of visitors who came along and helped make both days such a success. It was fantastic to see so much interest in our machines and to have so many great conversations with customers about their projects and needs. We live in an increasingly digital world, but the day really reinforced the value of hands-on demonstrations and face to face conversations. For all these reasons and more, I can confirm we’ll definitely be holding more Open Days in the future!”

For those interested in attending a future Open Day, HPC LASER invites inquiries via marketing@hpclaser.co.uk or by calling 01422 310800 to find out upcoming dates.

CUSTOM MEDALS: MAKING EVERY ACHIEVEMENT PERSONAL

Whether it’s crossing a finish line, winning a school competition, or taking part in a charity challenge, receiving a medal is a moment that matters. Today, custom medals are helping organisers turn those moments into lasting memories by creating awards that feel personal, meaningful and made just for the occasion.

Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all medals. Modern custom medals can be designed to reflect the spirit of each event, from fun runs and sports tournaments to corporate challenges and community celebrations. Shapes, colours, finishes and ribbons can all be chosen to match an event’s theme or branding, ensuring the medal feels like part of the experience rather than an afterthought.

Designed to Suit Every Style

Custom medals are available in a wide range of materials, making it easy to achieve the right look and feel.

Traditional metal options such as zinc alloy or brass offer a satisfying weight and premium finish, while aluminium provides a lighter alternative for large participation events. Acrylic and wooden medals are also growing in popularity, particularly for modern, familyfriendly or eco-focused events, offering a fresh and distinctive appearance. Finishes can be bright and polished, soft and matte, or even antique-style, allowing each medal to feel truly unique. Combined with colourful, printed ribbons, the final result is an award participants are proud to wear and keep.

Personalisation That Means More

What truly sets custom medals apart is personalisation. Adding a participant’s name, event date, finishing time or distance instantly turns a medal into a personal keepsake. For many recipients, these details bring back memories of effort, achievement and celebration every time they look at it. Custom ribbons printed with event names or messages add another layer of meaning, making the medal feel complete.

Why Custom Medals Matter

For participants, a custom medal is more than a reward — it’s recognition. It shows that the organiser has taken the time to create something special, which can make people feel valued and appreciated. This emotional connection often leads to medals being shared on social media, displayed at home or kept for years, extending the life of the event well beyond the day itself.

Sustainable Choices for Modern Events

Many consumers are also increasingly aware of sustainability. Custom medals can now be produced using recycled metals, responsibly sourced wood and environmentally friendly ribbons and packaging. These options allow events to celebrate achievement while reducing their environmental impact — a message that resonates strongly with today’s audiences.

A Lasting Memory

Custom medals bring together design, personalisation and purpose. They celebrate achievement in a way that feels genuine, thoughtful and memorable — ensuring that every participant walks away with something they’ll treasure long after the event ends.

EURO TROPHEX 2026: A NEW ERA OF INTERACTIVE TRADE ENGAGEMENT

Live Interactive Event | 6–8 October 2026

The stage is set, the buzz is building, and a new era of exhibition experiences is here. From 6th to 8th October 2026, Euro Trophex 2026 returns— bigger, bolder, and more interactive than ever before. Long established as the premier event for the trophy, awards, medals, engraving, and personalisation industry, Euro Trophex is now redefining how trade exhibitions connect buyers and exhibitors. And now, the moment many have been waiting for has arrived: exhibitor registration is officially open.

The way people buy is changing—fast. Social shopping is no longer a trend; it is a proven, powerful way for businesses to combine engagement with commerce and drive real-time sales. Buyers no longer want static brochures or passive catalogues. They want live, interactive experiences where they can see products demonstrated, ask questions, and make purchasing decisions instantly. For the trophy and awards sector, this shift presents a huge opportunity—and Euro Trophex is leading the way.

Euro Trophex Goes Live and Interactive

For 2026, Euro Trophex has been reimagined as a live interactive online event, bringing together exhibitors and buyers from across the globe in real time. This is not a virtual catalogue or a simple online listing—it is a fully immersive platform designed to replicate, and often surpass, the impact of a physical trade show.

Exhibitors can host live product demonstrations, answer questions instantly, and hold one-to-one face-toface meetings with buyers, all within a single seamless environment. Buyers, in turn, can explore products, engage directly with suppliers, and place orders in real time—creating an experience that is efficient, engaging, and commercially effective.

The Trade Show Experience—Reimagined

The new Euro Trophex format delivers the excitement and interaction of a traditional exhibition, combined with the advantages of global reach, digital flexibility, and reduced costs. Exhibitors can take part from their own offices, studios, or showrooms, removing the need for travel and complex logistics while maintaining meaningful, personal connections with buyers.

What truly sets Euro Trophex apart is its simplicity and accessibility. All that’s required is a laptop, desktop, or mobile phone with a camera and internet connection.

There are no complex technical setups, no specialist software, and no steep learning curve—making it easy for businesses of all sizes to participate confidently and professionally.

A Cost-Effective Way to Exhibit

Euro Trophex 2026 offers a highly cost-effective alternative to traditional trade exhibitions. Delivered as a live interactive event over three days, from 6th to 8th October 2026, it provides all the immediacy and visibility of a physical show—without the expense. By eliminating travel, accommodation, shipping, and stand build costs, exhibitors can significantly reduce their investment while still engaging directly with buyers in real time.

The value doesn’t stop when the live event ends. The Euro Trophex platform remains open for up to six months after the three-day event, allowing exhibitors and buyers to continue conversations, showcase products, and do business long after the live dates. This extended access transforms Euro Trophex into a long-term sales and engagement tool, maximising exposure, lead generation, and return on investment.

Designed for Real Engagement

Euro Trophex 2026 is built around interaction. Live demonstrations, real-time conversations, networking opportunities, and instant feedback are all central to the experience. Exhibitors can track engagement, respond immediately to enquiries, and tailor conversations to individual buyers—creating more meaningful connections and more informed purchasing decisions.

For attendees, the experience is intuitive and compelling. Buyers can watch live showcases, ask detailed questions, compare products, and place orders instantly. In a sector where craftsmanship, design, and visual impact are critical, seeing trophies, medals, and personalised awards demonstrated live online can be just as powerful—if not more so—than seeing them in person.

Effortless Registration and Full Support

Joining Euro Trophex 2026 is straightforward. The all-new Exhibitor Registration website allows companies to choose between Tier 1 and Tier 2 packages, then customise their showcase to suit their brand and objectives. Full guidance is provided on setting up interactive show spaces and streaming presentations, ensuring even first-time virtual exhibitors can present with confidence and professionalism.

The Future of Trade Is Here

Euro Trophex’s live interactive format is not simply a response to changing market conditions—it is a bold statement about the future of the industry. Trade engagement is becoming increasingly digital, interactive, and customer-centric, and Euro Trophex is at the forefront of this transformation.

For exhibitors, the benefits are clear: wider reach, lower costs, stronger relationships, and a platform designed to convert engagement into real business. Those who embrace this new model now will position themselves as forward-thinking leaders in a rapidly evolving marketplace.

The message is clear: for those ready to embrace the new era of trade and retail, Euro Trophex offers the platform to connect, present, and convert—all online.

Register Now

Exhibitor places are limited, and demand is building. Companies that act quickly will secure visibility with key decision-makers and ensure their brand is part of this exciting new chapter.

Visitor registration will open early June 2026.

Laser Engraving: PRECISION, VERSATILITY, AND PERSONALISATION REDEFINED

How Does Laser Engraving Work?

Laser engraving has become a cornerstone of modern craftsmanship and customisation, blending cutting-edge technology with creativity to produce intricate designs, durable markings, and highly personalised items. Its versatility and precision have positioned laser engraving as a preferred method across industries ranging from manufacturing to art. Let’s explore the fundamentals of laser engraving, its applications, and why it has grown into a pivotal tool in today’s world.

What is Laser Engraving?

Laser engraving is a technique that uses concentrated laser beams to etch designs, text, or patterns onto a surface. The laser beam vaporises the material’s surface, creating permanent marks that are resistant to wear and tear. Unlike traditional engraving methods, laser engraving is contactless, ensuring exceptional precision and minimal risk of damaging the material.

The process involves three main components:

1. Laser Source: This generates the high-energy beam needed for engraving.

2. Controller: Software controls the movement and intensity of the laser, enabling complex designs to be replicated with high accuracy.

3. Material: The surface being engraved, such as metal, wood, glass, leather, or plastic.

During the process, the laser heats the material’s surface to a point where it evaporates or burns away, leaving behind a design that is both precise and permanent. This level of detail makes laser engraving ideal for intricate customisation projects.

Applications of Laser Engraving

Laser engraving is used across a wide array of industries and for various purposes:

Trophies and Awards:

Laser engraving is a crucial tool in the trophy and awards industry, enabling precise customisation of names, dates, and achievements on plaques, medals,

and trophies. This technology ensures a polished and professional finish, enhancing the value and significance of each award while catering to the growing demand for personalised recognition.

Personalised Gifts:

Items such as awards, jewelry, glassware, and photo frames, are often engraved with names, dates, or messages to create meaningful, one-of-a-kind keepsakes.

Industrial Marking:

Companies use laser engraving for serial numbers, barcodes, and logos on tools, machinery, and electronic components. These markings are durable, ensuring long-term traceability.

Signage and Branding:

From custom business signs to branded promotional products, laser engraving ensures sharp and professional results.

Art and Craft:

Artists and crafters employ laser engraving to create intricate designs on wood, acrylic, and other materials, elevating their work with a professional touch.

Memorialisation:

Headstones, plaques, and memorial items often feature laser-engraved text and imagery, ensuring lasting tributes to loved ones.

Advantages of Laser Engraving

1. Precision: Laser engraving can achieve incredibly detailed designs, down to fractions of a millimeter.

2. Durability: The markings are permanent and resistant to fading, scratching, or wear.

3. Versatility: It can be used on a wide variety of materials, including metal, glass, wood, leather, and plastic.

4. Efficiency: Modern laser engraving machines are fast, producing high-quality results in a fraction of the time required by traditional methods.

5. Eco-Friendly: Since it’s a contactless and chemical-free process, laser engraving is more environmentally friendly compared to other marking techniques.

Emerging Trends in Laser Engraving

1. 3D Engraving:

Advanced laser engraving systems are now capable of creating threedimensional designs, adding depth and texture to projects.

2. Integration with Personalisation Trends: The demand for personalised products continues to grow, and laser engraving is at the forefront, enabling consumers

to customise everything from everyday items to luxury goods.

3. Sustainability:

Many businesses are opting for laser engraving on eco-friendly materials, aligning their practices with sustainability goals.

Challenges and Limitations

While laser engraving is a powerful technology, it does have some limitations:

Material Restrictions: Certain materials, such as transparent glass or highly reflective metals, can be challenging to engrave without specialised equipment.

Cost of Entry: High-quality laser engraving machines can be expensive, making the initial investment a barrier for some small businesses.

The Future of Laser Engraving

As technology continues to evolve, laser engraving is poised to become even more versatile and accessible. Innovations such as AI-driven design software and portable laser engraving tools are likely to redefine the possibilities for businesses and individuals alike. Whether for personalisation, industrial applications, or artistic pursuits, laser engraving will remain a vital tool for crafting lasting impressions.

Laser engraving isn’t just a method—it’s an art form that merges precision and creativity. Its ability to transform ordinary items into extraordinary keepsakes or essential tools highlights its enduring relevance in a fast-changing world.

BOXFORD: PRECISION TECHNOLOGY POWERING THE TROPHY AND AWARDS INDUSTRY

In the trophy, awards and personalisation market, precision is everything. From intricate engraving and detailed logos to consistent repeat production, today’s customers expect high-quality finishes delivered efficiently and reliably. Boxford, one of the UK’s most established manufacturers of laser and CNC machinery, has become a trusted partner for trophy and engraving businesses looking to meet these demands with confidence.

With more than 70 years of engineering heritage, Boxford designs and manufactures advanced laser cutting, laser engraving and CNC systems that enable trophy retailers and manufacturers to produce professional results in-house. Built and assembled in the UK, Boxford machines are known for their reliability, ease of use and long-term performance — qualities that are essential in a fast-paced, custom-led industry.

Precision Where It Matters Most

For trophy and awards specialists, accuracy and consistency are critical. Boxford’s CO2 laser cutters are widely used for engraving on acrylic, wood, coated metals and laminates, making them ideal for plaques, signs, award panels and decorative components. Fibre marking lasers add another level of capability, allowing businesses to engrave directly onto metals such as stainless steel, aluminium and brass with sharp, permanent results. These systems are perfectly suited to logos, serial numbers, QR codes and fine detailing that elevate the finished product.

Boxford’s advanced camera positioning systems and intuitive software simplify alignment and setup, reducing errors and saving valuable production time. This allows engravers and trophy makers to focus on creativity and customer service, rather than machine complexity.

Supporting Customisation and Growth

As demand for personalised awards continues to grow, Boxford technology enables businesses to respond quickly and flexibly. CNC routers and machining centres allow for the production of custom bases, components and display elements, giving trophy suppliers greater control over design and materials. By bringing more processes in-house, businesses can reduce lead times, improve margins and offer customers a wider range of bespoke solutions.

Boxford’s machines are designed to be accessible to users at all levels, making them suitable for small independent trophy shops as well as larger manufacturing operations. Training, technical support and aftersales service are central to the Boxford offering, ensuring customers are supported long after installation.

Built in the UK, Trusted Worldwide

Manufactured at Boxford’s Halifax facility and certified to ISO 9001 standards, every machine is built with quality and longevity in mind. This commitment to engineering excellence has earned Boxford a strong reputation not only in education and industry, but increasingly within the awards and engraving sector.

A Technology Partner for the Future

As the trophy market evolves, with increasing emphasis on personalisation, sustainability and digital design, Boxford continues to innovate. From versatile laser systems to robust CNC solutions, the company provides the tools that allow trophy professionals to stay competitive, creative and efficient.

For businesses looking to enhance their engraving capability, expand custom offerings or invest in reliable, UK-built technology, Boxford delivers precision that truly makes a difference.

BRINGING PRECISION TO EVERY WORKSHOP: THE HPC FIBRE LASER ENGRAVER (LSE110)

“With the HPC Fibre Laser Engraver, professional-grade precision is no longer limited to large, fixed workspaces.”

Filling the Gap in the Market

In today’s fast-moving manufacturing and design sectors, precision, versatility, and value are more important than ever. The HPC Fibre Laser Engraver delivers all three in a compact, highly capable package. Positioned between standard laser engravers and fully customisable high-end fibre systems, this Laser Engraver is designed to fill a critical gap in the commercial engraving market,

offering professional grade marking without the high cost or complexity of large-scale systems.

Versatility Meets Value

The HPC Fibre Laser Engraver stands out as a versatile alternative to CO2 cutting machines, which are unable to process uncoated metals without the use of a ceramic marking compound, and to costly custom fibre engravers. Its fixed cabinet design accommodates smaller items, typically under 200mm cubed making it ideal for workshops, manufacturers, and educational facilities seeking reliable metal marking at a competitive price point.

“It delivers the precision and reliability of a full-size engraver, in a compact and accessible format.”

UK-Built Quality You Can Trust

As with all HPC machines, this Laser Engraver is assembled, tested, and CE-certified in the UK, reflecting the company’s commitment to quality and compliance. It engraves directly onto uncoated metals without ceramic marking compounds, providing crisp, durable results while reducing consumable costs

The machine comes as standard with a 110 × 110mm focus lens, with alternative lens options, available for larger marking areas. HPC’s technical team works closely with customers to select the optimal configuration for each application, ensuring maximum accuracy and performance.

Designed for Safety and Efficiency

User safety and operational ease are key priorities. A protective enclosure with an integrated safety door switch ensures secure operation, while a motor-driven Z-axis with dual red-dot pointers allows fast, precise focusing. The drilled and tapped bed makes installing jigs and rotary devices simple, and an external fume extraction fan keeps workspaces clean. Optional features like a foot switch and visible laser tracing enhance workflow efficiency, streamlining the engraving process.

Precision, Speed, and Flexibility

The HPC Laser Engraver is powered by a 30W or 50W fibre laser, achieving marking speeds of up to 3000mm/s with a working accuracy of ±0.002mm. It supports QR codes, barcodes, and a broad range of file formats, including AI, DXF, DXP, LAS, and PLT, all controlled through the

brilliant Lightburn software, which is both powerful and intuitive.

“Compact, robust, and versatile, the HPC Fibre Laser Engraver is built to perform wherever precision marking is required.”

HPC Support Provides a Complete Solution

Backed by HPC’s nationwide support team, professional delivery and installation by experienced engineers,

and lifetime technical assistance, this laser engraver is more than just a machine, it’s a complete, professional grade solution. Each system includes hands-on training, either on-site or free of charge at HPC’s Halifax showroom, ensuring customers get the best possible start, with ongoing email and telephone support always available.

Across Markets

At its simplest level, a magnetic photo frame allows a standard printed image to be inserted and displayed easily on any metal surface. This instantly makes the product relevant across multiple sectors:

Retailers can offer ready-made personalised gifts that suit every budget.

Photographers and studios can upsell framed prints from shoots, school photography, or event packages.

Event organisers can supply branded keepsakes or takeaway merchandise.

Promotional product suppliers can offer corporate clients an affordable but effective branded item for staff or client gifting.

This breadth of use helps position magnetic frames as a year-round revenue generator, not a one-season product.

The collection includes classic magnetic frames in multiple sizes (from compact 90 x 60mm to larger and popular photo formats like 6x4 and 7x5) supplied in pack quantities suited to trade buying. These sizes cater to a variety of photography formats and end-user preferences, whether customers want a small fridge display or a larger frame for office doors, lockers or desks.

For those businesses seeking a more premium finish, the range also features acrylic magnetic photo blocks: modern, free-standing units that hold images between polished panels with embedded magnets. They’re ideal for retail shelves, higher-end gifting, and display-led environments.

Simplicity Meets Profitability

One of the biggest advantages of magnetic photo frames is their straightforward assembly and speed of production. Businesses simply print the

customer’s image at the correct size, slot it into the clear protective cover and secure it within the frame — no expensive machinery, training, or specialist skills are required.

This simplicity lowers the barrier to entry, allowing even smaller operators to introduce personalised gifts with minimal setup.

From a profitability standpoint, magnetic frames are extremely attractive. With pack

purchasing and tiered pricing, they support strong returns, particularly when ordered in larger quantities, and their broad appeal helps keep stock moving throughout the year.
