I would be fine with more trees and at most a nature trail with plaques perhaps describing wildlife or plants/trees in the area I would really love to enjoy this area as a quiet space with a botanic garden - shade trees (deciduous and evergreen) and drought tolerant flowers, shrubs, and grasses. Benches to sit on and maybe a couple of bubbling boulders to create that lovely babbling brook sound in the summer would lend itself to this being a much needed zen zone. There are many kids and adults that would love to play street soccer year long. The only other place in Denver metro area is Garfield Lake Park (quite a drive). Kids need a place where they have soccer nets during the summer, currently soccer nets on grass are only kept out for 16 weeks of the year. 8 in fall and 8 in spring. The only indoor turf facility in our neighborhood in west ridge but it is always reserved. Our kids have always enjoyed the park for its playground and playing fields. It’s why we bought our home, as we back to the park and open space. We do love it as it is, and welcome improvements that improve it. Our youngest son has autism and adhd and he gets so much enjoyment from the playground. The

A garden type environment like town center would be very nice but could make it more into a regional park rather than community. A naturalized dog park. Not a dog park like redstone that’s a big mud pit, but something left natural but fenced in for dogs. Again NO dog park! more individual free-time use spaces (playgrounds/fitness areas) usable year-round rather than ball fields that are seldom/seasonally used. As my house backs to the park, and the mountains, I would like to maintain the peaceful backdrop we currently enjoy, so would welcome all improvements with the exception of community events such as concerts. Civic green park and highland heritage are great for this but our neighborhood park is nice and quiet. Kids playing outside and parents cheering for sports are great! Live music and large crowds, not so much. I would love to see playground improvements. Lighting under the picnic shelter to discourage nighttime activities. Fenced off area for dogs and their owners - perhaps half the size of Digger’s at Dad Clark Park. Great spot for HRCA sports games & a nice break on your bike ride I appreciate the availability of family-friendly spaces and recreational options for children at our parks. However, considering the abundance of parks in proximity that cater primarily to children & families, I believe it would be beneficial to also incorporate more outdoor fitness amenities specifically designed for adults such as a community garden or pickleball

Would rather the proposed area simply be more natural and perhaps improve the existing park with upgrades. I love the structure I would like it if we left the wildlife alone and just made due with the land we have already plowed I would love to see some more game type things - like bocce or cornhole, or a better basketball court, or maybe outdoor pingpong. Things you could walk over and just play informally. It would also be nice if some of it could be left wild. Or planted to look wild with some walking trails through it. Even just grass with shade trees would be nice. So many options! I would love to see some pickle ball courts added to Toepfer Park. Tennis courts, fun obstacle type course for a bigger playground The only change I that heard about as as possibility that I am in favor of is the addition of play equipment appropriate for physically disabled children to make it somewhere that they, too, can participate in the fun of a children’s playground. Other than that, I am 100% satisfied in the park as it is. This is Highlands Ranch, the premier community in North DougCo. This park currently has a vault toilet that is thoroughly inadequate as a sanitary restroom. We need a properly plumbed restroom with separate men/women/family facilities. Although you refer to this as a neighborhood park as opposed to a community park that is a specious description. Often, scheduled youth athletic competitions include teams that have travelled from other counties. People completing a long drive need a sanitary restroom, for sure. But so do my grandchildren and my neighbor’s children and grandchildren. Even, immediately after a cleaning the vault toilet is a disgusting experience, particularly for a woman or girl. As I have travelled to parks, playgrounds and athletic fields throughout our state I have observed many communities of much less quality that HR providing far superior sanitary facilities. Something akin to the facility at the ballfields at Redstone (minus the concession stand) is more that adequate. I like the current park and walk there on an almost daily basis. I would prefer that whatever upgrades that are done would not cause a lot of extra traffic on Venneford Ranch road. I usually walk through the park. It would be nice to beautify with gardens and benches. Maybe a skate park for kids. A reason to linger instead of just pass through. I walk around Toepfer Park about three to four times per week and enjoy it a lot. My two concerns are the poor drainage near the restroom and the periodic vandalism of this restroom. Most of the open area west and south of the restroom drains directly into it causing sediment and dirty water to make it inaccessible. This problem can be easily solved with some simple grading, and pipe or chase drains under the crusher fines path. The flows could then be allowed to slowly spread out and seep into the soils. The vandalism is a more difficult problem. Possibly several monitoring cameras would help to discourage or else identify the vandals. I have witnessed the aftermath of the flooding and the vandalism twice in the last three years. I would first off prefer for the space to stay as open space. Alternatively, a nature play and education area with small trails, trees, plants, etc would be fun and beautiful! Would like there to be a large buffer from any development and the homes near Weatherstone circle. Distance and trees would be preferred. We enjoy our quiet park and would love to keep it that way! No dog park or large structures, PLEASE!!! I would love for the park to update the children’s playground so we are still able to walk to a park from our home. A playground that provides lots of shade via trees and shade structures would be amazing! That is very important to us. I would love some flat trails to walk along (not so hilly) I would love to see running water added. In the summer a water fountain would be huge as there is little shade on the trails nearby. Also many delivery drivers use the restroom at the park. I’d love to see the bathroom expanded to handle that volume and

flush toilets would be huge to keep the bathroom pleasant. I would love to see the playground updated in a way that is respectful to the natural surroundings and open space that it sits next to. I would not like a pickle ball court. I would prefer NOT to have a skate park nearby. I also think we need to keep the size of the parking lot in mind if the park is expanded for other purposes. We do not want parking to be a problem which pushes cars into the neighborhood areas I’d love to see elements that would enhance the vision and heart of Jim Toepfer (my grandfather) included in the additional space. I AM pleased that housing/multi family housing does not appear to be on the plate. Colorado is getting hotter and hotter. That was one of our saving graces in Arizona during hot days. Our family loves this space! Thank you for your hard work to keep, expand and improve it!! A sandbox would be great. Also, a parent and child swing would be a great addition. We’d like to see a merry go round to toughen our kids up. My kids want a bigger zipline. The trees were foolishly placed on the south-east side of the play area. Being coniferous rather than deciduous the shade caused by the trees retards snow and ice melt during our many fine winter days when the playground could be fully enjoyed but instead is ice and snow laden. The poor placement of the trees was a whole lot of people making a collective mistake. - There appears to be adequate land area for at least one additional baseball/softball/general outfield use playing surface. There is always a shortage of such playing surfaces. The parking and traffic at this park isn’t conducive to significant expansion and use by sports leagues. We live adjacent to the playground and hear the nite activity - 6 Doug Co sheriff deputies made a visit to our house about 2 weeks ago (late Sept 2023) at 10pm on a Sunday nite - they had gotten reports of what sounded like a young girl screaming behind our house (no children in our household) - consideration should be given to some type of security lighting that does not affect surrounding homes. - Also, I feel that there has been some ‘activity’ at the bathroom - drugs?, defacing?, etc since it is in a well hidden area -I don’t know a solution as it should not be closer to homes, but maybe security lighting there also? We live in the neighborhood and worry about increased traffic. We love it. Very happy about this move. We love the current Toepfer park as it is. It is perfect for our kids!! We love the park and use it twice daily walking our dog. During rain we see a lot soil running down the slope, might need a diversion to avoid it washing out the baseball diamond. It’s great to see the park well used by the community kids for sports and swings. It would be nice to have few benches for walking people to sit and enjoy the views. We LOVE the trees that surround the playground. They keep the park so nice in the hot months and let us play all morning there without getting too hot and tired. We love that the whole play equipment isn’t too tall and everything is manageable for small children. I have observed that when the playground is understated like this one, it leaves so much room for children’s imaginations to get really creative in how they play. We walk our daughters dog around this park almost every day, it would be lovely to have an off leash area for her to play in! We walk through the park every day and appreciate having it available; as a note, it would be advantageous to have distance markers on the walking paths with exit name signs (signage as to how far it is walking from the park to other locations, such as the rec center and other path exits along the way) We would prefer no new soccer fields.
