Senior Center Community Open House View a selection of project boards shared during the community open house on Thursday, Feb. 24 at Mountainview Christian Church, 40 E. Highlands Ranch Parkway. Numbers on the boards respresent the station where they were located. More than 200 people attended the open house to learn about the future Senior Center from the project team. SENIOR CENTER FUNDING • One-time capital funding for construction: Cash on hand, generated from system development fees and interest earned on those fee collections. System development fees are paid by the developer at the time of construction. • Ongoing operations: User fees and property taxes. The long-term financial forecast for the Metro District does not anticipate any change to mill levy rates to fund operations of the senior center.

• Senior Centers serve as a gateway to the aging population and connect older adults to vital community services to help them stay active and independent • Participants can learn to manage and delay the onset of chronic disease and experience measurable improvements in their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, mental and economic well-being • 75% of participants visit their center 1 to 3 times per week, and spend an average of 3.3 hours per visit Source: National Council on Aging
