Active Adult Programs & Services LIVING WELL AND AGING WELL IN HIGHLANDS RANCH
SEPTEMBER IS HEALTHY AGING MONTH It has been a busy spring and summer as we enjoyed trail walks on and off the ranch. Programming also took place in our local parks, where picnic lunches and social hours were followed by outdoor games of corn hole, bocce ball and table tennis. September will offer additional activities in celebration of Healthy Aging Month. This annual nod to staying active, engaged and connected offers free introductions to indoor and outdoor recreation and concludes with a park ranger-led trail walk and picnic at Fly’n B Park. Information is posted at highlandsranch.org/aaps. For availability and to register, please visit highlandsranch.org/signmeup. Trouble registering? Call 303-791-2710 and our staff will be happy to assist you.

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU? Q: If I need a ride to the doctor, grocery store or other places around town, is there transportation available to me? A: Yes. There are several private and county-directed services that can help you with transportation needs. Contact Jodie at jmccann@highlandsranch.org or 720-240-4922. Q: I am a caregiver for my parent who still lives in their home. Are services available that could step in when I cannot be there or to give me an occasional break? A: Yes. A licensed non-medical in-home care agency can provide companionship, light housekeeping, meal prep, transportation and more. Agencies are bonded and insured. There are also county-directed services and benefits that provide these services, giving you the support and break you need so that you can continue to be a healthy and involved care provider. Q: I am new to Highlands Ranch and would like to meet new people, find activities and take classes. What is available to me and where do I find the information? A: The Metro District’s Active Adult Program & Services (AAPS) provides activities, lifelong learning and social opportunities to help you meet new people and feel connected in the community. Visit highlandsranch.org/signmeup and click on the Active Adults (Seniors) box. AAPS Coordinator Jodie McCann can direct you to other local lifelong learning classes.
